Linux mint is truly that, MINT! this is one of the nicest ubuntu based distros in a long time. Still dont know if it compares to Ubuntu Ultimate Edition (UE). Still, Mint is a bad ass.
Mint is Ubuntu-based, so they are quite the same. Some things are just working out-of-the-box in Mint(for example mp3 codecs). But all of the preinstalled things in Mint, you can install at Ubuntu as well. Mint just saves some time ;) But if you want to learn more about your OS, you should do this things yourself and choose Ubuntu.
I really wish this was the current look to linux mint. I miss it!!

arrww it looks lush but i love windows 7, one day i shall try that...when i get mac i shall get bootcamp, then i shall own ^_^
