I don't think it is beneficial for future relations between the community and the police if they are trying to segregate themselves from each other. He should have explained his thoughts and feeling to the chief of police before kicking out a police officer just for being a police officer. This might be a good cop, but it's the actions of others who wear the same uniform that causes him to be seen as a discomforting presence... It may have been silly to turn away a friendly customer - but in the end it is the property owner's right to make poor decisions. And, the customers have the right to disagree and shop elsewhere in the future if they prefer.

i was running to catch my train from work a cop pulls over in his car and stops me. he then proceeds to question me on why im running and that i looked 'dodgey'. he is told WHY (trains run on a timetable) and is also told i have to wait 1/2 hour for the next train, which meant i was late for rugby training and disciplined according to team rules. he laughed and told me to get a haircut. WTF all because i have long hair and a beard. it should be legal to uppercut dickheads for shit like that.

Ever see what happens when cops come into a restaurant were everybody was laughing and joking just prior. The first thing is everyone goes silent, dead silent all the laughing and joking stops. Everyone becomes paranoid and then they just end up leaving, I have seen it a ton of times. I don't blame this guy one bit, he said his customers did not feel safe, and that's the truth. One wrong move or word and you could be tasered or beaten, I'd do the exact same!
I think what the shop owner did was smart. If a cop is in line or present in your store people get nervous and buy less stuff (Even though nobody did anything wrong). Other phenomena occur one reminds me of "white coat" syndrome a lot of people get when they enter a hospital only in this case "blue coat" and effects most people in any location. People get nervous in traffic when they see police and it often causes people to make driving mistakes. Police can be good but usually bad for business.

Ever see what happens when cops come into a restaurant were everybody was laughing and joking just prior. The first thing is everyone goes silent, dead silent all the laughing and joking stops. Everyone becomes paranoid and then they just end up leaving, I have seen it a ton of times. I don't blame this guy one bit, he said his customers did not feel safe, and that's the truth. I think what the shop owner did was smart. If a cop is in line or present in your store people get nervous and buy less stuff (Even though nobody did anything wrong). Other phenomena occur one reminds me of "white coat" syndrome a lot of people get when they enter a hospital only in this case "blue coat" and effects most people in any location. People get nervous in traffic when they see police and it often causes people to make driving mistakes. Police can be good but usually bad for business.
