That's the holy flame that can weaken Kaikou, the Mana god the people of Hanuda worshipped. I'm sure it can purify (read: 'kill') the shibito completely, and Suda/Howard use it to clean up the village anyway.

Miyako was said to be the "fruit" they would give Kaikou in order for their lands to survive or something. It's one of those old plot devices about a creepy village having to sacrifice a certain girl in order to prevent their god from destroying them all.

I love this ending. I've not achieved the other one yet (because I've been busy with work) but I doubt it'll surpass this one on the freakin' rulez meter, anyway.

There were other postings of this ending, but this one seems to be the best quality (it's brighter and less pixelated than most of them).

It fits perfectly. One of the pieces of backstory you can pick up is something about a young student killing 33 people in a village which, after the massacre, merged with Hanuda.

That, and Kyoya Suda was basically chosen to do fight the Shibito, which is what he's doing here.

SPOILERS:

In the past, there was a serial killer: a boy who went insane one night and killed the entire village, it was then when this village (who name is not mentioned in the game) was completely eradicated and deserted, and later it was merged with neighbouring village Hanuda. Kyoya Suda (in the video) exactly mimics the actions of the serial killer, but the reason is unclear to me. It does however happend for real in the game, it's not a dream or anything.

@philipinoidiot Sort of...the village SHOULD have been abandoned when Kyoya showed up. It had been for decades. However he somehow wound up in the past. As a result of gaining the ability to kill shibito and deciding to wipe out the entire village of them, he became the legendary killer who slaughtered the village. No one every found him because he's still stuck in time.

@philipinoidiot Yeah, they're dead. They're people who have been made to drink the red water filling the lakes. There are stages to being a shibito. The first stage, they look mostly normal. They will go about daily tasks like mowing the lawn or something until they see you. At this point, they'll attack. You can't kill them normally. If you hurt them enough, they'll curl up on the ground and rapidly heal.

After a time, they begin to mutate into uglier things.

Also, I don't know what do you mean by death scene. A lots of characters die in the game, but you don't get anything special for killing the main characters, just a mission failure screen.
