@zoupie2 with fiber-weave mixed in the concrete, 2 people made it easier and quicker to spread the concrete and because it's slower and more difficult to spread that type of concrete with just one person..
And mesh is not necessary when the concrete is mixed with fiber-weave - which makes it rated at 3500psi..
Though section 7.12 "Shrinkage and Temperature Reinforcement" of ACI 318 (the Concrete Code) is intended to apply to structural slabs, it's not a bad idea at all to use the minimum required reinforcement for soil supported slabs on grade, especially when expansive soils and freeze-thaw conditions are present.
I had the slope scraped and leveled and a layer of 'crush and run' spread over the clay base and compacted by an excavator about 2 weeks before the concrete was poured..
There were section 'cuts' etched into the entire driveway for natural breaks that I didn't post in the video..
That it can.. The top 1/3rd (next to my deck I'm standing on while filming), I made into a sitting area separating the rest of the driveway with a folding privacy fence.
wow my back hurts looking at these guys.

what the hell weres the rebar or at least wire mash??????
tkmy0lisma 11 months ago
@tkmy0lisma It's 3500psi 'Fiber-weave' concrete!
Rebar and wire mesh is not required with this type of concrete..
rvr2 11 months ago
@rvr2 so you basically could have a truck parked there without risk of cracking?
bozzza69 6 months ago
@bozzza69 Depends on the weight of the truck I guess..

@tkmy0lisma lol...better not think of jacking a car up on that driveway

rvr2, if you don't mind me asking...how did the cuts get placed? Is it a saw that cuts after the cement is hardened?
EC14U2C 2 years ago
Not a problem..
They were etched in by hand by the workers using some sort of etching tool and cushions for knee pads to prevent any unwanted indentations.
The etches were made about 1 inch deep on the surface and as it cured, cracks appeared in the etched cuts after about 3 weeks..
rvr2 2 years ago
thanks again. I'm just about to do my pad, it's not quite as big, but your vid has definitely made it possible. I appreciate it.

It's still holding up nicely after 3 1/2 years

your driveway is huge. like you could park 5 -7 cars easily.

It's really held up well to this day!

Thanks for the vid! I am getting free concrete from my mother-in-law's boyfriend, left over from previous job. Now I know what to do.

Around 4 Grand..
After 10 years of a gravel driveway, I still have no regrets.

Fiber doesn't replace rebar. It makes it a little stronger, but really it isn't worth the money.
chadinem 3 years ago
Well, it's been 3 years now and not a crack yet (except where the 'cuts' in the concrete were etched, but those were predicted)..
Plus I got a Great Deal on it cause my brother-in-law was a lead supervisor for the company..
rvr2 3 years ago
Man you've done allot of work, just to drive up that hill on concrete has got to be night and day. Good investment.
SC515 3 years ago
It's been nearly 3 years and not a single crack yet..
The 'fiber-weave' pre-mixed in the concrete, replaces the rebar.
rvr2 3 years ago
Cool. I stand corrected. Hadn't heard of fibre weave in mix.
Oody61 3 years ago
I never seen any steel in there, or any expansion joints.I'd be amazed if you don't have loads of cracks soon. Good luck.
