think about the biggest names in MMA, Silva, GSP,Penn, and (as much as I hate it) Lesnar. all are very strong well rounded fighters, Maia is a very strong ground fight, Silva knows this, and isn't going to let it go to the ground, Maia has no chance of victory.

Anderson Silver outstrikes Marquart easily, and Marquart really hurt Maia. Dan henderson is also a damn well qualified ground fighter, and Silva submitted him. This fight is heavily stacked against Maia in my opinion due to silva's much better standup.

Comparing Dan Henderson's groundgame to Maia's is pretty ridiculous. Give credit where credit is due. There's no doubt Anderson Silva will tool Maia if it remains standing. Maia has no chance standing up with A Silva. But to even compare their jiujitsu is dumb. Maia is LIGHTYEARS ahead of Silva. The gap between their striking is the same as the gap between their groundgame, but in favor of Maia.

Maia still is one of the best BJJ fighters around. Top 10 in the world right now easily.

Yes Maia is good on paper at Jiu Jitsu, but he hasn't had any huge name submissions. And Dan Henderson coaches the U.S Wrestling team, and has notable wins over many great fighters. Silva's groundgame is not weak, recall the luter fight and henderson fight of course. He is also very intelligent, recall the Thales Laites (sp?) fight. I s tack this fight heavily towards silva.

Uh yeah, because Maia hasn't been in MMA nearly as long as he's been doing Jiujitsu. Two time ADCC champ, multiple time CBJJ and CBJJO champ. And all I remember in the Leites fight was that Leites kept trying to pull guard unsuccessfully. Maia has notable judo and I believe is a black belt in judo as well.

Silva's ground game is weak compared to Maia's. It's that simple. Maia excels in Silva's biggest weaknesses; takedowns and ground-game. Like I said, Maia is one of the top ten grapplers.
