Good for him, a *man* of his prosperity should pass along his wealth.BTW did you happen to read the Official Military version of their visit? I did. It was a tad bit different than printed above. @1139u2 Why are these comments marked as SPAM. Who changes a comment. Her father was killed in VN, and you call Doug a hero. This has got to be frustrating to someone who has served, that her comments are marked SPAM. WHY? Doug suddenly was a VN vet after 9/11. Some of you take his word for it. Cannot understand this. It's as if you drank the kool aid, and believe everything he says. This is a big mistake. Simply give the dates of service. Simple enough, even for him.

@1139u2 I cannot understand why this is marked as spam, also do not understand why he will not give the dates on his service in VN! That is a disservice to all the veterans. I've known him since high school. Doug people are saying you are a hero. Acknowledge this by simply giving your dates of service, and where stationed in VN. A veteran knows when and where they were stationed. It is ridiculous all these are marked spam. You owe people a reply.

Doug, a great American who I appreciate as a man, a veteran and of course a singer. I didn't know that he was a sargent in Nam. Some folks in America are afraid to stand up for Lady Liberty and I gotta tell you it's a dang shame-but let me say that any man that will not stand up will be taken down at some point. @1139u2 Everything I've heard and read said that Doug enlisted and rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam war. Where he served and what he did, I'm not privy to that info. If he wasn't telling the truth, by now, someone would have said something. I have no reason to not believe him.

@rockinredneck57 PART 1--- Point 1, Check the date this 3 part series video was posted (2007). 2) If you’ve read all the comments on all the 3 pages, you’d see Doug is being QUESTIONED already on the truth of this subject besides me. 4) Your post sounds as if it is verbatim off of a Search Engine site, as what are found are specific interviews with Doug. 4) There is NO reference to his service on ANY official Military site AT all, not even the Army’s. YES, this info CAN be found on line.

I love these guys still the same. I'll never change their minds so I might as well move on to a better future respecting the good things they did in the past.

@hansboofer Thank you for your kind remark about Toy's serverce in the USMC & I know George served in the USNAVY, Tommy was in the USMC, completeted bacic training and was discharged with a Medical Honorable Discharge. These are facts.

IMO Doug Gray was the weakest member of the band. He had a voice but no other talant. The Caldwells were the heart and soul of this band. Mr. Gray's comment RE: Irag, show his ignorance.
