There's a difference between being a Christian and someone wrapped up in religion.
Christian: to follow Christ's teaching; to believe in God.
Religion: while it's a belief in a supernatural power or higher belief, it's more so a system of structure and belief.
You're confusing being a Christian with getting too tied into religion. Being a Christ follower is just a more explanatory version of saying I'm a Christian.
IF YOURE NOT ROOTED TO YOUR FAITH YOU WILL GET SO LOST! FOOLS! ANY DAY IS FINE TO WORSHIP CHRIST JESUS. THE WEARING OF SUNDAY BEST IS A PERSONAL CONVICTION TO LOOK BEST FOR THE LORD AND NOT TO MAKE EVERYONE IN CHURCH NOTICE YOU!DUH. YOU GO TO CHURCH TO LEARN GROW AND FELLOWSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER. READ THE BIBLE AND GET TO KNOW THE TRUTH. PFFFFT.
actually Jesus says you should get rid of everything valuable , EVERYTHING. and only wear clothing made of one material. otherwise you are not following his word.. good luck with that lol.
"Christian no more?" So what are you now? A "Christ Follower"?
I don't get it. Just changing your label from "Christian" to "Christ Follower" doesn't do anything to you or your lifestyle. Seriously what is this, I ... *sigh*
Long story short, you're portraying the wrong message, here.
Acts 11:26: "Now it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians."
Why one would want to get rid of that wonderful name all Christ followers were called for centuries? I understand your point, but mocking other people is not not "christfolloweresque", do not you think?
All Christlans will go to Hell! They will burn forever. Whenever their skin will get burn. God will bring unto them Fresh Skin! The Hell-Fire is so unbearable that if it was to come JUST onto your ankles your brains will boil, and your screaming will be an awful one! All those who associate partners with Allah (Yes God in Arabic means Allah so those who call Allah the devil have no real knowledge) will go to Hell FOREVER. Convert to Islam the true Religion. Prophet Jesus PBUH is ours!
@daaaaaaify Not that it is bad, but it is not important. It depends on what you know about "church", as the word "church" in the Bible refers to the community of Christians, not a specific place or building where the believers gather.
@daboomerang319 You hate me ? You don't even know me. At least hate people You know starting with YOURSELF. You're a pathetic waste of life. GET LOST !
I find the idea of a god existing quite impossible. Even though there were several thousand of them made by man I still think none of them exist. Even if I did believe in a god, then I would be denying another god in some way. If I believed in Zeus then I would be denying Yahweh. If there is a god then he wouldn't mind me changing my mind to believe in him/her/it if I do end up going to their heaven.
@DuykRuyk I'm not going to judge you, but is it all just a considense (did i spell that right?) that we ended up on the planet with animals, plants, water and everything else we need to survive? Just think about that for a little while.
@Manateecutie Really? This is truly a pathetic question to ask anyone. Asking this question is assuming that they believe in abiogenesis which many do not. This question is similar to the arrogant and ignorant question of, "So you think everything came to be because of random chance?" Also, the fact that you had to say, "I'm not going to judge you" says a lot. I accept science and its current explanation of things which will be changed and refined unlike bronze age myths.
this is problem with a lot of modern churches people that do things reputation not because of God or that they actually want to do things going to chruch doesn't make you a Christian its your relationship with God
Religious fundamentalism, especially that, which is borne from a particular church or clergy, is, at best, off-putting, and, at worse, dangerous, and many people have come to avoid some organized religion for that reason. Theological interpretations should be found through one's own study and spiritual intuition, not from blindly-following others.
This campaign seems like a clever way to reconnect people of faith with a congregation that avoids political manipulation and other corruptions.
Ok.... Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Jesus tell us we were going to be hated for "His name sake"? So it seems to me if we change our name so the world no longer hates us or If we change our name so the world more readily accepts us, aren't we doing something wrong here? Not that we are trying to make anyone hate us but we shouldn't water anything down either.
these parodies=my right hand plucking my left foot because it doesn't help write letters... my ears telling my nose it needs to listen more... my tongue telling my knee it's useless because it couldn't taste the lobster bisque I had for lunch... SILLY
You open your mouth to criticize the assignment God gave YOUR BROTHER (if in fact you are a follower) and cause confusion about what Christ is really about.
Jesus said, by this men will know that you are My disciples: that you love one another.
@willdude85 Are they not judging each other here? Passively? I think so. Oh and don't instruct me to study anything, you judgmental ignoramus: God has been a part of my life since the day I was born, and I have had more of a struggle with Him than you can ever understand.
@octoberboiy Me to! I go to the SDA highschool in my town and me and one of my freinds are gonna to this for a chapel, and so we looked it up in drama class to watch it, we were like "WOA! Another SDA!" When we read the comments. :)
Church is not a physical structure. Church is anywhere Chriatians meet to learn about god, whether that be Sunday at the sanctuary, or Wednesday in your living room. Christian fellowship, is the church. Also, looking your "Sunday best" while isn't bad in it's entirety, it generally puts emphasis on how others think of you, and you're going to God's house; so their opinion shouldn't be your priority.
wait didn't the first guy say he's getting ready for church as well, but if it's saturday and the first guy doesn't like church on that day, why is he ready for church? A little mistake there, otherwise good skit.
would Christ divide his Church and patronize a different 'clique' of His believers using pop commercialism to portray the message? in my opinion, both of the two options are far from being like Christ. rather than strive to be 'Christ-like', the Christian is too concerned with dabbling in pretentious formality. Rather than 'Following Christ', the 'Christ Follower' is preoccupied with corporate fads and his own vanity of being more socially acceptable than the Christian.
@miseriaykretek Religion has always been about social acceptance, in a couple hundred years we'll have some space age shit religion that people will be jumping on after they realize we weren't created by a lil man in the clouds.
@miseriaykretek I never met the guy Jesus, I hope I spelled that right. Whats he like? Do I need to know him? If I know him what will happen to my life style? Will it change? Will I hear the guy talk to me? I heard Jesus enforced a book his dad wrote. But I also heard his dad didnt write it some guys wrote it over the course of about 100 years or more. I heard pages were missing as well. I wonder what those pages said? I just dont get religion, then again maybe bad people need it?
@miseriaykretek I think you need to lighten up. They're making fun of the difference between Christians, in the way they approach God: I thinks it's good to be able to laugh at yourself, not take yourself too seriously. Maybe your more like "Christian" maybe like "Christ Follower" both have their + and - points. For some people dressing up for church is about respecting God: I get that and for some people by dressing differently you are separating out your religion and your life I get that too.
"And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch." - Acts 11:26. If it was good enough for them, it's good enough for me. I am a Christian.
@bslaybaugh .... Paul never use that term in his writings to the church so why are we using it today? You can not find support for believers in the NT being called Christians.
Actually, I don't see a significant difference between those two. Perhaps, one on the right has a hope for recovery. And one on the left needs a psychiatric intervention.
i look at this way, dress your best regaurdless if your best is street clothes like fresh jordans and clean jacket or nice suit it really dosen't matter as long you give best to God, because we can't say that he or she is not trying cause they don't dress the typical church goer and at end of the day where is heart is what we as body should be concern about. Isaiah 29:13
that being said, i wear my best when i go to church not because i have to, not because i think God thinks i would look trashy in sweats, out because i try my best to please God, getting up early and dressing speacially shows that i take the time to present the sinfull me to the HOLY God
Pleasing God= Living your life to bring glory to Him. Living and Breathing His Word, and living it out... Pleasing God is not done by what you wear....but how you live
Great video man! I am rolling! That's why I don't go to church with the lemmings. Its not fair to them all, but it is apparent when you get into a church who is real and who is fake. A lot of people think that by going to church on Sunday no less will make up for all the crappy things they did during the week. Ever see a person in church that gave you the finger on the way because you cut him off? Thats the type right there! God is inside us, not in a church.
When you investigate with an open mind, God is really a pretty easy to get guy. I think that's what makes it the hardest...or maybe it's the fake Christians. Anytime you want to really know about anything you should read it from a good source, and investigate. I mean even thomas doubted and i reckon he was a brave and very smart guy.
I agree, I have found that God has put an open line of communication in all of us and you just have to tune in to it and you can walk with the spirit. When you finally get it, it is all so dam SIMPLE!!!! It makes me smile when I realize how much we care about what doesnt matter, and how little focus we put on what really matters. :)
I like this play, cuz it shows that u dont have to be a holier than thou to serve God. To the ppl who have a problem with our faith, it's ok to feel that way but i'm sorry to tell you that God is real. I really hope you get to know Him soon. It really makes no sense arguing about Christ. Ready or not He's coming back.
These videos are teaching us to mock real people...
Some of these souls are dying and going to hell, because they still trust in religious tradition instead of Christ alone.
And has your love for them grown or diminished since being encouraged to laugh at them?
Those of us who have truly come to know Christ personally should be praying for them and not making fun of them. They're people, and many of them are perishing for lack of knowledge... like we were.
too many preachy people who think they are Pastors trying to force religion and think we need saved cause we dont follow the path of Christ. Now that is what I call true bigotry. cause im not christian doesnt mean i'm a bad person. I have morals and values very similar to christian beliefs. I try my best to be a good person and follow my heart...so im going to "Hell"
The ten commandments are laws against human nature.. do not perform the 7 deadly sins. gluttony, lust, greed, despair, wrath, envy and pride. these 7 deadly sins are what we do every day it is human nature we can't help it. So God doesnt want us to be human. Then why did he created us humans if he doesnt want us to be humans....chew on that
they were more like guidelines, especially given that they were issued around 1200 BCE.
I mean, I agree that it's human to want to covet or to dislike a neighbour, or even to want to kill; but half of the commandments are a set of principles and morals to live by, even if you don't really subscribe to the christian faith. Christianity (the core of the philosophy, not the modern Western view on it) is made to better a person, not make them perfect.
The same goes for What is written in the The Muslims book. and the teachings of Buddhism. all religions are a way to set ones own morals and values. thats why I dont partake in labeling myself to just any one religion.
You do realize that the seven deadly sins have NOTHING to do with the 7 deadly sins right? You know that the 7 sins were not part of the bible, that they were created by a monk in the 4th century, right? You realize that the 10 commandments are basically rules like, "don't kill people" and "respect your parents", and considering that pretty much every society has rules or they devolve into complete anrachy, I fail to see how this is a bad thing. Chew on that.
Directly NO. but Indirectly Yes. So the 7 deadly Sins were created in the 4th Century. But The foundation of today's laws. including the 10 Commandments. do have roots within the 7 deadly sins. in each of the commandments you can see the correlation it has with a deadly sin.
How can the 10 commandments have roots in the 7 deadly sins if the sins weren't created until centuries later? Roots have to come first... that's why they're called roots and not leaves. Just to be clear: 10 Cs were part of the old testament (which has to be BC). 4th century is AD. Thus, sins came AFTER comandments. Also, if you're saying that "today's laws... have roots within the 7 deadly sins" you're JUST proving my point. Are you actually suggesting that rules are bad things?
So I got my words backwards..thanx for pointing that out. I guess what Was trying to say, and no rules are not bad. (who wants anarchy) anywhodoodle, I was trying to say that the 7 deadly sins and The Laws (10 commandmets) are connected. Well the Bible wasnt created in BC. it was created in AD. so that would be arguement
The bible was written in AD,but the events of the Old Testament took place in BC and (even if we assume it's just a story and not an actual history) were passed down orally for centuries. So yes, the 10 Cs do come from BC. And I still fail to see how the two are connected... the 10 Cs are a set of rules, which you've already said aren't bad. The sins are vices, and only apply to a small group of Christians (Catholics) anyway. And are you saying people should act on wrathful, or envious impulses?
your putting words in my mouth. Im not saying we should act any such way. you want me to break it down for you command and vice. if you read the second commandment it state god is a jealous (envy)god.. All im trying to say is that the seven deadly sins can be seen within some of the commandments. im not saying that the 10 C's are bad.
Not putting words in your mouth: in the first post I replied to, you said that the 7 deadly sins "are what we do every day it is human nature... so God doesn't want us to be human" So either (a) you think being human means we should feel free to commit angry, lustful, etc. acts (b) you think it is human nature to feel these sins but we shouldn't act on them (pretty much the same thing that God is saying, so what's your complaint?) or (c) you don't have any idea what you're saying... which is it?
okay so I exaggerated a little about the first post. but I would go with option B. and I am not complaining anymore. I just like to light a fire under people and get them going. and question themselves. and second point about eht commandments and deadly sins. Im not trying to say they have a deep connection only that a sin can be associated with some of the commandments...(I should have said this in the beginning lol)
Well as long as you know you're just trying to get people going I guess... haha... originally I was just trying to correct what I thought was a mistake about the bible since it was written in a way that made it seem like you thought that one of the comandments was "do not perfrom the 7 deadly sins"... and I would argue that you can pretty much match up one of the sins with any law ever written, not just the 10 Cs (assault= wrath, DUI = gluttony, prostitution = lust, etc.) they're pretty vague
Sin was around when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge. And that was way before the 10 Commandments. The laws are our way (or God's via 10 Cs) of trying to correct the sin we see present in both our own lives and our socieites.
Right...right, except that god lied about the tree, and then got scared of mankind. So, I'm not sure why sin even figures in. After all, god would've had to have sinned first, regardless. Shouldn't he at least live up to his own standards?
To hold, as mans sin, a fact not open to his choice is a mockery of morality. To hold mans nature as his sin is a mockery of nature. To punish him for a crime he committed before he was born is a mockery of justice. To hold him guilty in a matter where no innocence exists is a mockery of reason.
alright to those of u who does not understand this parody, it simply just states that you don't have to be formal and looking like you love jesus as long as your heart is with him i'm stating that formal isn't a bad thing i'm just stating its not what worshiping jesus is all about
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
theres no evidence that jesus existed at all. other than in mythological stories plagarized fro the Egyptian ones. So everyone just shut the fuck up now. .
Oldschool: perhaps it's precisely because Christianity is a flawed cult that it has been "failing" for the last 2000 years.... Christ came to redeem the flawed not the perfect. Part of the point of the video is that religion came never be perfect because it is not what God desires in the first place.
the christ follower makes the christian look stupid and the christian makes the christ follower look arrogant. theres no way to escape the spirit of human ego. eitherway its still flawed.. God bless
Religion has a history of changing and subdividing when enough people object to its flaws. If it must change to remain popular and profitable proves: it is imperfect.
This series of cutesy commercial clones promotes just one more illusory bifurcation in an inherently flawed cult; a commercially-branded sub-species: "Christ followers."
Changing "flat-earth theory" will NOT make it correct.
Nor will false distinctions improve a failing sect.
Excellent clip, and more truthful than you might at first imagine. If I said I worship on a Saturday because Jesus worshipped on a Saturday, and because he was resurrected on a Saturday night (already risen by Sunday morning), and because He is "Lord of the Sabbath" [explicitly Saturday] then we might be onto something interesting. And can we accept that this clip may hint at a raw and unusual theological honesty few I doubt today would really contemplate. Well done.
Yet, in the early church they worshiped on Sunday. This is verified by Justin Martyr and the Didache.
There is no evidence for Jesus having risen on Saturday night. And the case for it is incredibly weak. They found the empty tomb early in the morning on Sunday, likely 6 AM, that leaves six hours for him to have risen that morning. Not to mention he was to have risen on the third day. Jesus died on Friday. Sunday would be the third day.
Interesting. Accurate, but is it wise to squabble amongst ourselves when Atheists continue to seek to destroy our way of life? Granted, the hard-liner Christians do provide them with plenty of ammo sometimes.
So, asking you to stop bombarding me with your theistic sentiments is stifling you?
I don't care what Christians do at home or at church, or what stupid bumper stickers they want on their cars, but that's not enough for them. They want to force everyone to join them at school and in the town square.
Christian: "Do you really think Jesus would worship on a Saturday?'
Christ Follower: "Actually yeah; he ...nevermind".
(for those who may not have gotten the joke, he's saying that he's a Jewish guy who follows Christ's teachings; and that Christ, being Jewish would also have woorshiped on a Saturday )
You are talking about Jewish Sabbath, the day God rested. Just question did Jesus really do anything that the Jews thought was right? And another question do you worship on Saturday? We worship on Sunday because it was the day our Lord was resurrected. I believe if Saturday was that important to worship on, Christ would have died on Thursday and rose on Saturday. Nice try on trying to be funny and cute, I guess you are one of those Christ Followers that never follow Christ. Fisher of Men!
Look the fact is if God exists theres no way he could punish some one for not believing in a particular rligion because there are so many and theres no way to know which one is right. I believe in God but I also believe if you just live well and act well no God would punish you.
On a side note your beliefs are fine martin and I respect your opinion but theres no reason to be such a FUCKING DOUCHBAG about it and instult every one else try having an open mind about things idiot.
Gods do what they're told to do by the priests who control them. They're not answerable to you. Many gods (especially the one-and-only gods) do punish people for all eternity for nothing more than not worshipping them. Your beliefs cannot change reality. If there is a psychobastard god waiting for you when you lose the power to run away and hide believing in gentle Jesus will do you no good. Gods once invented can never be uninvented. Nothing is as eternal as fear of the unknown.
Well no you werent stopping any one but you were coming off as pretty offensive. What your saying is true about who knows what kind of god is awaiting us if there is one but theres no way of knowing and no point in wondering. Lifes too short to devote it to the unknown.
Declaring that you know what cannot be known does not change that.
What is more offensive than being told that you and your species are cursed for the actions of a mythical couple of people who never lived and you will be tortured for all eternity for not believing in patent nonsense? What is more offensive than being called a fool by knuckle-dragging rednecks or carpet-kissing goat-shaggers who think ultimate goodness is all about trading in their daughters' hymens and not asking questions?
this is quite interesting and misleading.i know it is in fun but it is deceiving. first of all christian means little christ so someone who is regenerate isnt only a christ follower but they have put on christ and are christians
I love how these videos are trying to "de-mystify" the Christian lifestyle, where most people believe that going to church on Sunday is all it takes, go in, sing a few songs, and you're good for another week, where that is actually farther from the truth than people like MartinJ where they atleast truly believe in something, God says that lukewarm people should be vomited out of his mouth, better to be hot or cold than putting on your happy face and ignoring the real issues going on
Haha wow I'm a Christian and this guy representing us make us look bad. All the things he was doing and wearing was all for show. Hey, we know you're a Christian, you don't have to shove it down everyones's throat. It's though act's and not being a show off
The guy representing us? Are you really that stupid? Don't you know what a parable is? This video is a parable, every aspect of it is fictional, it has never happened in reality, every word, every pose, every "event" has been made up to "prove" the point of the person inventing the parable. Parables can prove anything they set out to prove. Imagine that X, Y and Z happened, doesn't that prove A, B and C? No, not in the slightest. Fiction can't prove anything no matter who writes it.
So four people have decided that fiction can prove something but they don't want to explain how it does it. It is indefensible and they know it.
Parables are fictional stories, as fictional as this video. Nothing can be proved about reality from the plot of any parable. All parables start from the "moral lesson" and invent bogus facts to "prove" that lesson.
If you think parables can prove something just try using one to defend yourself in court and see how far it gets you.
there are all sorts of churches for all sorts of different people. as long as the gospel is preached, that's what matters.
instead of stressing what clothes to wear, formal or relaxed, why not stress the highest truth of Christ? i don't think it's any better to point out a relaxed outfit than to make a stand on wearing formal clothes to church.
stop the pointless arguments with each other. one God, one love, one faith, and one baptism into that faith.
The highest truth of Christ is a lie. Religion libels humanity. The creation myths of ignorant misogynistic bronze age shepherds insult the universe.
All monotheism leads to arrogance and intolerance. Faith combined with monotheism leads to totalitarianism, which leads to studied ignorance, unchallengable lies dressed up as truth with a capital T and the persecution of "heresy".
Jesus is more real than anything else in my life. he completely turned my life around, gave me hope, love, and grace in abundance, and continues to heal people all over the world (both physically and spiritually).
Your imaginary friend is more real to you than reality. And you boast about this. The really sad part is that you are used to people thinking better about you for making such shocking and absurd statements.
You should try living in a civilized country, there you will find people drawing back and thinking that you are mentally ill for making such claims, as you would from somebody making such claims about any other invisible imaginary being who brings peace to the lives of morons.
Truth doesn't need protection, defenders, capital letters, inquisitions, a tenth of your income or faith. Truth looks after itself. Lies on the other hand need protection to remain, to flourish and to pass to the next generation. Lies need to be called The Ultimate Truth. Lies need regular weekly retelling in buildings where no contrary view may be expressed. Lies need telling to children before they develop the power of reason. Lies need defending by their victims voting down the truth.
I've gone to Catholic school up until middle school. Almost everyone I went with is either atheiest, or a completely other religion. So, that wasn't a good point you just made. And all I said was that it's stupid devoting yourself to bashing a religion. You should use that energy to find what you believe in and follow it wholeheartedly.
So they're failing in their attempted indoctrination, that doesn't prove it's not attempted indoctrination. There's no such thing as ex-Catholic, only recovering Catholic.
Stopping religion having an easy time of it is what I believe in. Faith is the enemy. I will not allow religion to go unchallenged as they go spreading lies and calling them truths that save. All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. No chance mate. Man has been afraid of the dark long enough.
uh, yea there is such a thing a an ex-catholic. kinda like how an ex-husband ends up with another woman who he likes more than his first wife. And I also speak modern slang english. not high class "stick up my ass" english
I use English, its my language. I am not trying to be something that I am not. I will not fake being stupid, illiterate, badly educated or American for your benefit.
Nobody is ever cured from being a Catholic just as nobody is ever cured from being an alcoholic. There is permanent damage to the psyche. Those scars never heal completely. Just as with virginity, one prick and it's gone, nobody is ever the same after having been a Catholic and nothing can change that.
I doubt that you talk to people like this in real life you stupid limey. You can't forget a part of life, but you can ovecome it. like rape victims and kids who were molested. And religion gives people something to believe in when they are at their lowest, just deal with it. there will never not be a religon in the world.
I have no doubt that there will always be religion, however that is a million miles from accepting that there is some kind of duty to let religion lie unhindered and unchallenged. If you spout crap and brainwash your children I am not going to say that's just fine and dandy and I'm not going to keep silent.
If you want to spout nonsense without anybody having a right to reply stay in church. In the real world you don't get to ask people to leave because they're challenging your myths.
Even if that is what you believe, then let others believe diffrently. People are lied to all the time, and a lot of the time it is to make them feel better about something. I'll admit, w/out religion I would be able to live life more freely, but it also gives me something to give me something to stand on when i'm down
I am not stopping anybody from believing anything. All I am doing is attempting to ensure that as many people as possible know that belief in irrational pre-scientific Hebrew tribal myths is a choice not a requirement.
Try telling a Mormon they're free to believe whatever they want to believe but they should just keep quiet about it because people like their current comfortable myths. If missionary work and evangelism is acceptable for the religious why not for the non-religious?
You have labelled your own courage as something external to you. You are a traitor to yourself and your species, as is everybody who has shown approval to your act of betrayal and submission to irrationality.
And regarding the second part of your comment: it is, by nature, fallacious to judge a belief system based off of the people that follow it. i can't judge a band's music based off the people who like the band, can i? no. i listen to the music, and judge it based off the music.
when one reads all of scripture in context, he doesn't see a woman-hating, arrogant, or intolerant Jesus. on the contrary, he sees a grace-filled, loving, nice guy, who preaches (and acts in) humility, LOVE, and truth.
@timmyeatsfood ... did you know that a band is not a belief system? and it gets better/worse, belief systems may be effective in causing change, so there are rational, logical reasons to judge the way you say people shouldn't. True, Jesus and many other Jews may not want to be judge by how Jews of His time behaved, but now the Christians are in the same boat ... but there isn't another flood coming, as for the coming of a Moshiach ... :)
also, pretty much all of my good, genuine Christian friends are very kind, loving people. they don't act "arrogant" or "intolerant", and they certainly aren't totalitarians! haha.
i'm sorry if you've run into any Christians who don't act the way that Jesus commanded us to (which is, in love). and if you go to a good church, then you can find some pretty cool people there, actually! :D
Timmyeatfood, thanks. Its nice to know that a fellow Christian can stand up for himself. And MartinJ, all I can say is, if you refuse to believe then go your way, but don't act like a jerk to us Christians. Timmyeatsfood here was being tolerant, kind, and very open about what he believes. You on the other hand were offensive, intolerant, and very unopen minded. What does this show?
We As Christians live for peace and love, I'm sorry if any Christians ever offended you.
Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Christ-follower and the other a Christian. The Christ-follower stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this Christian. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
"But the Christian stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
You mean the Parable of the the Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:10-14) Jesus starts talking in verse 10: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
- sorry but I have to cont. my comment to another box to fit it all
13"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' 14"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
that's a good Parable (The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector)! Although you have the people wrong and you forgot verse 14. Read my comment on the vid. to get it right.
I've recently met some of these "christ followers" and the thing is, when pressed on the issue of being born again, they don't believe you have to be saved to follow Christ. The concept of this heresy is that sinners too can follow Christ without repentance. Mark 16:16 states that you must repent and be saved. But sicne we are doing away with the un-pc term "christian" we might as well conclude that we're all just children of God. Garbage!!! I'm a Christian.
Yes, you can go to church in casual dress, but it is respectful of Christ to dress well, After all, you are dressing well for Him. And the whole issue on Saturday/Sunday worship is silly. Would Christ really care what day you worship on as long as you worship? I don't think so.
Well, actually, Jesus wore rags, so he doesn't care what you wear, and the reason why the staurday/sunday thing was funny is because saturday is actually the day of rest, not sunday. We made it our day of worship, but God never said it was.
if Jesus wore rags, why were the soldiers casting lots to see who got his cloak? Jesus worked up until his 30s as a carpenter and he was given fine gifts

The Hell-Fire is so unbearable that if it was to come JUST onto your ankles your brains will boil, and your screaming will be an awful one!

This campaign seems like a clever way to reconnect people of faith with a congregation that avoids political manipulation and other corruptions.
zideaz 1 year ago

Church is not a physical structure. Church is anywhere Chriatians meet to learn about god, whether that be Sunday at the sanctuary, or Wednesday in your living room. Christian fellowship, is the church. Also, looking your "Sunday best" while isn't bad in it's entirety, it generally puts emphasis on how others think of you, and you're going to God's house; so their opinion shouldn't be your priority.

would Christ divide his Church and patronize a different 'clique' of His believers using pop commercialism to portray the message? in my opinion, both of the two options are far from being like Christ. rather than strive to be 'Christ-like', the Christian is too concerned with dabbling in pretentious formality. Rather than 'Following Christ', the 'Christ Follower' is preoccupied with corporate fads and his own vanity of being more socially acceptable than the Christian.

MyFartsRock 1 year ago
@miseriaykretek I think you need to lighten up. They're making fun of the difference between Christians, in the way they approach God: I thinks it's good to be able to laugh at yourself, not take yourself too seriously. Maybe your more like "Christian" maybe like "Christ Follower" both have their + and - points. For some people dressing up for church is about respecting God: I get that and for some people by dressing differently you are separating out your religion and your life I get that too.

TheAmericanMason 2 years ago
When you investigate with an open mind, God is really a pretty easy to get guy. I think that's what makes it the hardest...or maybe it's the fake Christians.
Bless the Lord, O my soul.

You could never be a truly good person; your heart, thoughts and deeds are evil, perverted and sinful.
When someone breaks the law, the government doesn't ask about how nice the person is or what their friends thought of them. So it is with God.
God ain't no sleaze. He doesn't just let lawlessness sliiiide, cuz he loves us.
We have broken God's law, and justice must be executed: either upon the guilty or upon the Savior in our place.
ProstrateBeforeHim 2 years ago
The ten commandments are laws against human nature.. do not perform the 7 deadly sins. gluttony, lust, greed, despair, wrath, envy and pride. these 7 deadly sins are what we do every day it is human nature we can't help it. So God doesnt want us to be human. Then why did he created us humans if he doesnt want us to be humans....chew on that
poisonsting8404 2 years ago
uhm...
they were more like guidelines, especially given that they were issued around 1200 BCE.
I hope that helped, dude.

poisonsting8404 2 years ago
You do realize that the seven deadly sins have NOTHING to do with the 7 deadly sins right? You know that the 7 sins were not part of the bible, that they were created by a monk in the 4th century, right? You realize that the 10 commandments are basically rules like, "don't kill people" and "respect your parents", and considering that pretty much every society has rules or they devolve into complete anrachy, I fail to see how this is a bad thing. Chew on that.
Passerine212 1 year ago
Edit: - the *ten commandments* have NOTHING to do with the 7 deadly sins right- sorry about that
Passerine212 1 year ago
Directly NO. but Indirectly Yes. So the 7 deadly Sins were created in the 4th Century. But The foundation of today's laws. including the 10 Commandments. do have roots within the 7 deadly sins. in each of the commandments you can see the correlation it has with a deadly sin.
poisonsting8404 1 year ago
How can the 10 commandments have roots in the 7 deadly sins if the sins weren't created until centuries later? Roots have to come first... that's why they're called roots and not leaves. Just to be clear: 10 Cs were part of the old testament (which has to be BC). 4th century is AD. Thus, sins came AFTER comandments. Also, if you're saying that "today's laws... have roots within the 7 deadly sins" you're JUST proving my point. Are you actually suggesting that rules are bad things?
Passerine212 1 year ago
So I got my words backwards..thanx for pointing that out. I guess what Was trying to say, and no rules are not bad. (who wants anarchy) anywhodoodle, I was trying to say that the 7 deadly sins and The Laws (10 commandmets) are connected. Well the Bible wasnt created in BC. it was created in AD. so that would be arguement
poisonsting8404 1 year ago
The bible was written in AD,but the events of the Old Testament took place in BC and (even if we assume it's just a story and not an actual history) were passed down orally for centuries. So yes, the 10 Cs do come from BC. And I still fail to see how the two are connected... the 10 Cs are a set of rules, which you've already said aren't bad. The sins are vices, and only apply to a small group of Christians (Catholics) anyway. And are you saying people should act on wrathful, or envious impulses?
Passerine212 1 year ago
your putting words in my mouth. Im not saying we should act any such way. you want me to break it down for you command and vice. if you read the second commandment it state god is a jealous (envy)god.. All im trying to say is that the seven deadly sins can be seen within some of the commandments. im not saying that the 10 C's are bad.
poisonsting8404 1 year ago
Not putting words in your mouth: in the first post I replied to, you said that the 7 deadly sins "are what we do every day it is human nature... so God doesn't want us to be human" So either (a) you think being human means we should feel free to commit angry, lustful, etc. acts (b) you think it is human nature to feel these sins but we shouldn't act on them (pretty much the same thing that God is saying, so what's your complaint?) or (c) you don't have any idea what you're saying... which is it?
Passerine212 1 year ago
okay so I exaggerated a little about the first post. but I would go with option B. and I am not complaining anymore. I just like to light a fire under people and get them going. and question themselves. and second point about eht commandments and deadly sins. Im not trying to say they have a deep connection only that a sin can be associated with some of the commandments...(I should have said this in the beginning lol)
poisonsting8404 1 year ago
Well as long as you know you're just trying to get people going I guess... haha... originally I was just trying to correct what I thought was a mistake about the bible since it was written in a way that made it seem like you thought that one of the comandments was "do not perfrom the 7 deadly sins"... and I would argue that you can pretty much match up one of the sins with any law ever written, not just the 10 Cs (assault= wrath, DUI = gluttony, prostitution = lust, etc.) they're pretty vague
Passerine212 1 year ago

821tach90 1 year ago
Sin was around when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge. And that was way before the 10 Commandments. The laws are our way (or God's via 10 Cs) of trying to correct the sin we see present in both our own lives and our socieites.
821tach90 1 year ago
Right...right, except that god lied about the tree, and then got scared of mankind. So, I'm not sure why sin even figures in. After all, god would've had to have sinned first, regardless. Shouldn't he at least live up to his own standards?
DarkDDexter 1 year ago
To hold, as mans sin, a fact not open to his choice is a mockery of morality. To hold mans nature as his sin is a mockery of nature. To punish him for a crime he committed before he was born is a mockery of justice. To hold him guilty in a matter where no innocence exists is a mockery of reason.

Well done.
messageweek 2 years ago
Yet, in the early church they worshiped on Sunday. This is verified by Justin Martyr and the Didache.
There is no evidence for Jesus having risen on Saturday night. And the case for it is incredibly weak. They found the empty tomb early in the morning on Sunday, likely 6 AM, that leaves six hours for him to have risen that morning. Not to mention he was to have risen on the third day. Jesus died on Friday. Sunday would be the third day.

You are talking about Jewish Sabbath, the day God rested. Just question did Jesus really do anything that the Jews thought was right? And another question do you worship on Saturday? Look the fact is if God exists theres no way he could punish some one for not believing in a particular rligion because there are so many and theres no way to know which one is right. I believe in God but I also believe if you just live well and act well no God would punish you.
On a side note your beliefs are fine martin and I respect your opinion but theres no reason to be such a FUCKING DOUCHBAG about it and instult every one else try having an open mind about things idiot.
CappsGrad 2 years ago
Gods do what they're told to do by the priests who control them. They're not answerable to you. Many gods (especially the one-and-only gods) do punish people for all eternity for nothing more than not worshipping them. Your beliefs cannot change reality. If there is a psychobastard god waiting for you when you lose the power to run away and hide believing in gentle Jesus will do you no good. Gods once invented can never be uninvented. Nothing is as eternal as fear of the unknown.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
Well no you werent stopping any one but you were coming off as pretty offensive. What your saying is true about who knows what kind of god is awaiting us if there is one but theres no way of knowing and no point in wondering. Lifes too short to devote it to the unknown.
CappsGrad 2 years ago

It's though act's and not being a show off
Aeryn22 2 years ago
The guy representing us? Are you really that stupid? Don't you know what a parable is? This video is a parable, every aspect of it is fictional, it has never happened in reality, every word, every pose, every "event" has been made up to "prove" the point of the person inventing the parable. Parables can prove anything they set out to prove. Imagine that X, Y and Z happened, doesn't that prove A, B and C? No, not in the slightest. Fiction can't prove anything no matter who writes it.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
So four people have decided that fiction can prove something but they don't want to explain how it does it. It is indefensible and they know it.
Parables are fictional stories, as fictional as this video. Nothing can be proved about reality from the plot of any parable. All parables start from the "moral lesson" and invent bogus facts to "prove" that lesson.
If you think parables can prove something just try using one to defend yourself in court and see how far it gets you.

stop it! stop the divisions in the church!
there are all sorts of churches for all sorts of different people. as long as the gospel is preached, that's what matters.
instead of stressing what clothes to wear, formal or relaxed, why not stress the highest truth of Christ? i don't think it's any better to point out a relaxed outfit than to make a stand on wearing formal clothes to church.
stop the pointless arguments with each other. one God, one love, one faith, and one baptism into that faith.
timmyeatsfood 2 years ago 3
The highest truth of Christ is a lie. Religion libels humanity. The creation myths of ignorant misogynistic bronze age shepherds insult the universe.
All monotheism leads to arrogance and intolerance. Faith combined with monotheism leads to totalitarianism, which leads to studied ignorance, unchallengable lies dressed up as truth with a capital T and the persecution of "heresy".
Doubt sets you free.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
Jesus is more real than anything else in my life. he completely turned my life around, gave me hope, love, and grace in abundance, and continues to heal people all over the world (both physically and spiritually).
He is not a lie.
timmyeatsfood 2 years ago
Your imaginary friend is more real to you than reality. And you boast about this. The really sad part is that you are used to people thinking better about you for making such shocking and absurd statements.
You should try living in a civilized country, there you will find people drawing back and thinking that you are mentally ill for making such claims, as you would from somebody making such claims about any other invisible imaginary being who brings peace to the lives of morons.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
it's called faith. it's something to believe in. and it's sick of you to try to take that from someone
chickenpattyboy 2 years ago

You should use that energy to find what you believe in and follow it wholeheartedly.
chickenpattyboy 2 years ago
So they're failing in their attempted indoctrination, that doesn't prove it's not attempted indoctrination. There's no such thing as ex-Catholic, only recovering Catholic.
Stopping religion having an easy time of it is what I believe in. Faith is the enemy. I will not allow religion to go unchallenged as they go spreading lies and calling them truths that save. All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. No chance mate. Man has been afraid of the dark long enough.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
uh, yea there is such a thing a an ex-catholic. kinda like how an ex-husband ends up with another woman who he likes more than his first wife. And I also speak modern slang english. not high class "stick up my ass" english
chickenpattyboy 2 years ago
I use English, its my language. I am not trying to be something that I am not. I will not fake being stupid, illiterate, badly educated or American for your benefit.
Nobody is ever cured from being a Catholic just as nobody is ever cured from being an alcoholic. There is permanent damage to the psyche. Those scars never heal completely. Just as with virginity, one prick and it's gone, nobody is ever the same after having been a Catholic and nothing can change that.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
I doubt that you talk to people like this in real life you stupid limey. You can't forget a part of life, but you can ovecome it. like rape victims and kids who were molested. And religion gives people something to believe in when they are at their lowest, just deal with it. there will never not be a religon in the world.
chickenpattyboy 2 years ago
I have no doubt that there will always be religion, however that is a million miles from accepting that there is some kind of duty to let religion lie unhindered and unchallenged. If you spout crap and brainwash your children I am not going to say that's just fine and dandy and I'm not going to keep silent.
If you want to spout nonsense without anybody having a right to reply stay in church. In the real world you don't get to ask people to leave because they're challenging your myths.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
Religion does indeed give give people something to believe in. Lies. Pre-scientific false explanations. False promises. False hope. Hollow threats. Bogus virtues. Imaginary flaws. Invented shame. Ignorant superstitions.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
Wel shoote martin yous so edercated I think yall shood listen ta wut hees talk-in bout
CappsGrad 2 years ago
Even if that is what you believe, then let others believe diffrently. People are lied to all the time, and a lot of the time it is to make them feel better about something. I'll admit, w/out religion I would be able to live life more freely, but it also gives me something to give me something to stand on when i'm down
chickenpattyboy 2 years ago
I am not stopping anybody from believing anything. All I am doing is attempting to ensure that as many people as possible know that belief in irrational pre-scientific Hebrew tribal myths is a choice not a requirement.
Try telling a Mormon they're free to believe whatever they want to believe but they should just keep quiet about it because people like their current comfortable myths. If missionary work and evangelism is acceptable for the religious why not for the non-religious?
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
You have labelled your own courage as something external to you. You are a traitor to yourself and your species, as is everybody who has shown approval to your act of betrayal and submission to irrationality.
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
And regarding the second part of your comment: it is, by nature, fallacious to judge a belief system based off of the people that follow it. i can't judge a band's music based off the people who like the band, can i? no. i listen to the music, and judge it based off the music.
when one reads all of scripture in context, he doesn't see a woman-hating, arrogant, or intolerant Jesus. on the contrary, he sees a grace-filled, loving, nice guy, who preaches (and acts in) humility, LOVE, and truth.
timmyeatsfood 2 years ago 2

timmyeatsfood 2 years ago
Timmyeatfood, thanks. Its nice to know that a fellow Christian can stand up for himself. And MartinJ, all I can say is, if you refuse to believe then go your way, but don't act like a jerk to us Christians. Timmyeatsfood here was being tolerant, kind, and very open about what he believes. You on the other hand were offensive, intolerant, and very unopen minded. What does this show?
We As Christians live for peace and love, I'm sorry if any Christians ever offended you.

What is "the highest truth of Christ"? Can you agree on that?
MartinJWillett 2 years ago
Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Christ-follower and the other a Christian. The Christ-follower stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this Christian. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
"But the Christian stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
TheotherPrometheus 2 years ago
did u get it round the wrong way?
Nonarina 2 years ago
No. It is the "Christ-followers" who are forcefully distancing themselves from the notion of being "Christian"
TheotherPrometheus 2 years ago

Are these Jews for Jesus being a Jew?
mongobobo 2 years ago
I've recently met some of these "christ followers" and the thing is, when pressed on the issue of being born again, they don't believe you have to be saved to follow Christ. The concept of this heresy is that sinners too can follow Christ without repentance. Mark 16:16 states that you must repent and be saved. But sicne we are doing away with the un-pc term "christian" we might as well conclude that we're all just children of God. Garbage!!! I'm a Christian.
chadsummers01 2 years ago 2
I'm a Christian and pleased to say so.. just not this nerd in the video.
rhadiem 2 years ago
Yes, you can go to church in casual dress, but it is respectful of Christ to dress well, After all, you are dressing well for Him. And the whole issue on Saturday/Sunday worship is silly. Would Christ really care what day you worship on as long as you worship? I don't think so.
FireFuria 2 years ago
Well, actually, Jesus wore rags, so he doesn't care what you wear, and the reason why the staurday/sunday thing was funny is because saturday is actually the day of rest, not sunday. We made it our day of worship, but God never said it was.
P0mt3 2 years ago
if Jesus wore rags, why were the soldiers casting lots to see who got his cloak? Jesus worked up until his 30s as a carpenter and he was given fine gifts
