worst Bond movie ever made.Very common type story. It is full of flaws i.e.weak script,Sean Connery looks 50 year old,he rides bike.Largo looks more like a clown than a established criminal. It's script more or less identical to Thunderball.
THIS MOVIE WAS MADE BY ORION'S FILM'S PRODUCTIONS AND NOW THE MOVIE IS NOT ONE OF IMFEINNGS NOVEL SO NATURALLY THERE WAS NO REASON TO START THIS OFFICAL OR UNOFFICAL NONSENSE. THEY JUST PUT SEAN CONNERY IN THIS FILM AS AN INCENTIVE BASED ON THE CONTENT OF THE FILM. OO7 COMES OUT OF RETIRMENT TO BE IN HIS FINAL FILM PLAYING JAMES BOND AND SHOW AN "RICHLY SATIFYING PERFORMANCE " BASED ON THE DIRECTOR APPROACH OF THIS PARTICULAR FILM. SO THERFORE, JAMES BOND HAS NO REAL HISTORY ON OFFICAL TERMS.
@Olemwrongway It was NOT directed by Sean Connery! It was directed by the late and wonderful director by the name of Irvin Kershner. He will be missed.
This isn't the BEST Bond Film ever. (And I DO Count it as a Bong Film. More than the New shit anyway) But it's Certainly Better than Diamonds are forever! Oh God the Ending of that film is just AWFUL!
It's an Underated Film because of it's Unofficiality. If this WAS an Authenticated BOND, then People would rate it much better. The Acting is Superb, the Sets Gorgeous, The Bong Girl Sexy, the Villan is actually VERY Involved & Interesting, The Crazy Bitch, etc! But Rowan? He KILLED it for me.
Hard to believe looking at this trailer that this bond movie was one of the shitiest laughable films made of all time.I read Sean Connery said he only came came back for the huge pay check $2milion for a couple months work.He really looked knackered playing the part plus the insane amount of make-up and hair piece made him look like an austin powers danny la rue freak of nature. As soon as the movie opened with that belly churning song you knew the movie was going to be shite.
@trettfilms I think he meant "why it isnt an official movie." the correct answer is because its not an Eon film despite having sean connery as bond. sorry bout it this =S I do realize that its a year old question.
@Olemwrongway The problem is that a bond movie only gets to call itself official if its made by MGM... you know... the company whith the lion logo before the start of every official bond movie. though everybody calls never say never again an unofficial movie, i think its a great one and the fact that Sean Connery is in it makes it even better. The first bond to ever play bond played it.
But to come back to the point. Its not official because the MGM company didn't made it.
I have just found out that the budget for making this film was $36 millon and the budget for making Octopussy was $35 million, so what I would like to know is why the hell does this film look so damn cheap and shit? and why did Octopussy look so refined and polished like all the other official bond films considering it cost $1 million less to make? Whoever was in charge of accounts for never say never must have pocketed all the money. Nevermind $36 million it looks more like it was made for $3
Yes, but you got to love the part when the automated computer says "We are replacing the dummy warheads with W80 thermonuclear warheads, have a nice day".
Yes it is a remake of Thunderball and yes it´s not an official Bond-movie! Too bad Connery diden´t keep his promise, to never do another Bond-movie again! Why Bond-enthusiasts hate it?? Everything about is is bad, and most importantly, like all Brosnan movies, there´s zero bond-feeling in this one!
Also, only Connery and Moore will do for Bond! other caracthers suck as bad as their movies.. Dalton might be third but his far far away..
It's official in that MGM owns the rights to produce the films, and MGM produced this one. It's also an excellent reprisal for Connery, in my opinion.
No classic title sequence and not a sign of Q, the appearance of Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) was strange to, but seeing Sean was great, odd that there was also "Octapussy" so this must of been an independent movie, anyways looks like a remake of thunderball, enjoyable, gold-finger would of been nice as remake perhaps :)
Despite of many people hate this movie I found Never Say Never Again really great and entertaining Action/Adventure movie. Sean Connery was old but no less impressive James Bond. Kim Basinger was special one - definitely one of the most beautiful and memorable Bond Girls.
Max von Sydow, Klaus Maria Brandauer and Barbara Carrera were great as well.
Worst Bond Film with Sean. Never Say Never Again was not a regular 007 movie, it was an independent production by the producer of Thunderball in the 1960's. Only two independent Bond films have every been made, this one, and the 1967 Casino Royal with David Niven.
this was an unofficial bond movie ian flemming refused to do anything with it.thats why there is no gun barrle sequence that was flemmings idea.he didnt like the idea of brining back connery
ppl say sean isnt the sme wen hes old. but look at THE ROCK, he was 68 nd ppl luvd um. well he was only 51 doiin this. never say never was shit but it was brilliant to see sean play james bond and shave off tht beard. this was the only film he made after diamonds r forever wer he never had a beard
Its a shame that it was a weak and badly directed movie. (same guy who directed "Empire strikes back.") It just prove that some things are best left in the past. Still a would have been assume to hear the Barry score one last time.

Why would they remake a bond film with Sean Connery when he was in the original film "Thunderball"? NSNA was not good..Octopussy was 10 times better..I prefer Moore's bond...
Never Say Never Again was a Bond movie but it wasn't officially part of the series it was a remake of Thunderball, I thought it was an excellent movie!! But I would have to say I prefer Thunderball over NSNA.
It's not even a BOND movie if you want to get technical.
It wasn't produced by the Broccoli's. It was just an action movie with James Bond as the character.
Sean being back as Bond is super cool...but could anybody tell me why he just wouldn't go to the Broccoli's and say..."I want to do one last Bond film?"
evh5.... Don't be a dork. It WAS a Bond film, in fact it was Thunderball! It's probably more like a Bond film than "Licence To Kill" was, made by your beloved Broccoli empire. Brandauer was excellent as Largo, and Barbara Carrera made one of the most memorable femme fatales in the history of 007. NSNA is certainly not the best of the series but does it REALLY matter what bloated movie studio put it out?
its not a bond film...its a remake of Thunderball...Flemming and McClory had a court case about this....People think its an OFFICIAL bond film only because Sean plays 007 in it....Flemming Created james bond and yes NSNA is one of his books this is NOT part of EON's Bond film franchise therefore not a bond film in the series...same goes for Casino Royale but thats a different story...
I knew about Never Say Never's history but my point was, WHY should it matter what studio put it out, unless it was a film so cheap that it wasn't worthy of a Bond film? How does it effect you personally? Is Peter Jackson's "King Kong" not official because it was a remake? The Tarzan "franchise" was owned by multiple studios over the years. I think this is an industry-poisoned way to think about movies. I saw both NSNA and Octopussy that year and it was a great year for 007 fans!
This is nothing more than a lame remake of "Thunderball" (an awesome Bond film). Just because they got Connery back doesn't change the fact that the title of this movie should have been "James Bond: Been There, Done That".
II agree, those three were Moore's best films. "A View to a Kill" is the worst one (only because "Moonraker" was so rediculus that it's hard not to like). Moore's too old, and he knew it too. They just couldn't find anyone to replace him fopr that one so he did it anyaway.
well octopussy only beat this movie slightly, both movies had a very similar budget.
never say never again, budget 36 million, box office = 160 million
octopussy, budget 35 million, box office 187,5 million
but then again, octopussy was released during summer and never say never again during the autumn which may have contributed to octopussy earning slightly more, as summer is bigger for movies.

No one knew about Casino Royale in theaters w/ Daniel Craig as 007 or NSNA w/ Sean Connery in his last time being 007, but when you take both, this trailer is better than ever.

No one knew about Casino Royale in theaters w/ Daniel Craig as 007 or NSNA w/ Sean Connery in his last time being 007, but when you take both, this trailer is better than ever.

Nice trailer, very well made. But there was no sex! For a James Bond video, thats a travesty. But still great effort.
