I don't know how many noticed this, but in the slideshow of pictures, Baldwin comes before Baldridge, which is not alphabetically correct. R comes before W in the alphabet.
You know something that makes me really proud? Knowing I am relayed to Rita Hayworth. I have read letter sent to my grandma from her. I think my grandma said they were cousins.. not postive on that...I'd have to ask again.
danny kaye was just a unique being devoted the later part of his life to entertaining children through the united nations, funny funny original and great heart
I don't mean to be greedy but I remember seeing news of celebs died in '86 '93 '96 '00 and '03 and so on. I'm sure it wasn't connected to yours but it was similar. it was neat
My favorite of the group is Robert Preston! Fell in love with that man after watching Music Man. Just loved his voice! In fact Hermoine Gingold was also in this video, & was in Music Man with Preston! Also loved to watch Danny Kaye dance & sing!
we all know that this kind of talent will never come around again nor will movies ever be so happy, carefree, passionate, and talenf filled. Now, you see a chick flick, you've seen 'em all. The car chases all start to look the same and the romance goes overboard to make a point of 'love'.
I did'nt realize we lost so many great stars in 1987 but what an array of talent Fred Astaire, Ray Bolger the great and cute Danny Kaye Rita Hayworth or Ms Cansino they will be missed forever.
Danny Kaye had the heart of peter pan and made his masterpieces appear effortless. He had a true sense for the ridiculous and innocencet, somehow swirling them together. If ever an angel could be a clown, it's Danny.
Agreed. The truly sad part, there is none like them today; nor do I expect there ever will be. So called "entertainment" is so trashing I can't find anything to laugh at! In addition to these; I really miss Bob Home!
legends omg so talented its strange they passed (or rita did) like a week before i was born and i have all her dvds its like a legend never really dies.......like when i watch all 'old movies' im like have they really been gone that long it dosnt seem it! legends there live always stars never really die no one ever really dies*
We lost so many great entertainers that year and have continued to do so ever since. God Bless all of them for the joy they brought to the world. Thanks for posting.
And I thought this was a bad year for deaths. We tend to freak out over how few Golden era stars are currently still with us, but when you're reminded that already TWENTY years ago people might have been having similar worries regarding the loss of so many old stars, it really just make it sink in more. As does realizing just who/what we're being left with as a replacement.
Jackie Gleeson he was just so funny in Smoky & the Bandit & as for Liberace know one can hit those ivorys like him what a showman...Danny Kaye now there is a shinning star...Godrest them all in this brillaint tribute.....
Astaire, Kaye, Hayworth, Bolger, Fosse, even Warhol...I'm glad I was just a little kid in 87. It would have been awfully tough to go through the loss of so many talented people all in one year.
wow one more unforgetable year is correct!so many wondefull ppl gone but they left there legacys with all there wonderfull Imprints on each and every one of us , thanks for posting this.
Too much time was given to Fred Astaire a glorified dancer & thats all he was.Liberace was a dirty AIDS ridden shit stabbing bastard who got what he had coming, Les Dawson was a greater pianist.Danny Kaye was a nothing. Jackie Gleeson was so multi talented,Lee Marvin a sad loss, John Huston,Andy Warhol & Bob Fosses geniuse's in our time.
Sure Miss, Lee Marvin, Buddy Rich and Danny Kaye. But how has ever heard the story of Jackie Gleason and one of the Presidents showing him the Alien Crafts and dead Alien bodies? I cannot remember which President but that story is out there for people who want to know. I guess Jackie went home that night tripping out. He told his wife this story. Could be true, I thought it was interesting.

I just got one myself. A double, that is a chubby burger at Chubbys, they have great malts.. I have turrets and I accidently (sp) through the malt in my face. And then I yelled "NABBIT" very loud and tossed my fries out of the window. It's a serious desease.

Three of these people who died in 1987 were guest stars on the Muppet show: Danny Kaye, Liberace, and Buddy Rich.

Buddy Rich and Danny Kaye are the two that I recognise the most here,
but make no mistake - if I had a working time machine, I'd go right back and fuck Rita Hayworth six ways till Sunday.
