  • boy, was i born in the wrong decade. >.>

  • Three of these people who died in 1987 were guest stars on the Muppet show: Danny Kaye, Liberace, and Buddy Rich.

  • I don't know how many noticed this, but in the slideshow of pictures, Baldwin comes before Baldridge, which is not alphabetically correct. R comes before W in the alphabet.

  • Fred Astaire is irreplaceable, and so is Rita Hayworth. Check out here on YouTube the video in which the two perform together.

  • Wow. I can't imagine another year other than 1987 when soooooo many entertainment icons all died. Wow.

  • damn there was a lot of icons that died that year, wish they has shown more then pictures from some of them like Andy Warhol and Bob Fosse!

  • loved Danny Kaye, so sad he is gone

  • Rita Hayworth looks like a red head Veronica Lake. And thats a good thing (((:

  • Interesting Rudolf Hess wasn't mentioned. He died in 1987

  • @bismuthcadmium I doubt that an imprisoned Nazi would be mentioned with the likes of these greats.

  • @ourhand I have 222 tattoo'd on me, I see it everywhere... its even in my username! But that is scary.

  • we lost a lot of great people that year

  • I know this is a serious video, but pause it at 2:22, how scary does that look?

  • You know something that makes me really proud? Knowing I am relayed to Rita Hayworth. I have read letter sent to my grandma from her. I think my grandma said they were cousins.. not postive on that...I'd have to ask again.

  • now I found it, it's just hard to find

  • danny kaye was just a unique being devoted the later part of his life to entertaining children through the united nations, funny funny original and great heart

  • I don't mean to be greedy but I remember seeing news of celebs died in '86 '93 '96 '00 and '03 and so on. I'm sure it wasn't connected to yours but it was similar. it was neat

  • Man I forgot how much talent past away that year. Hard to believe it has been 23 years ago.

  • LEGENDS....

  • My favorite of the group is Robert Preston! Fell in love with that man after watching Music Man. Just loved his voice! In fact Hermoine Gingold was also in this video, & was in Music Man with Preston! Also loved to watch Danny Kaye dance & sing!

  • The Best !

  • Wow! Some of greatest greats left us in 1987 from movies to literature!

  • i was born in 1985 and that would have made me 2 yrs old when they died

  • @AutobotLover I would of been 12...and your point is?

  • @MOSTechnology

    it amazed me that all

  • @AutobotLover yeah I know..sorry for the saracsm lol

  • @MOSTechnology

    its ok

  • So many great people lost this year. It's like 2009 before 2009. :(

  • @foolishginger what movie of his was it that was shown? I love the orchestra part in Walter Mitty.

  • we all know that this kind of talent will never come around again nor will movies ever be so happy, carefree, passionate, and talenf filled. Now, you see a chick flick, you've seen 'em all. The car chases all start to look the same and the romance goes overboard to make a point of 'love'.

  • talent, talent, talent!

  • Ray Bolger <333

  • @foolishginger oops I mean Fred, so sorry about this mistake!

  • That was the year when I was born. Really hard to watch this video. :(

  • @foolishginger I admire all of them, neither. Beloved Danny... :( Frank... Oh my Gosh... hard to watch this video... :( Makes me terribly sad. :(

  • The media takes everything and gives it a Liberal slant. I'm just now realizing that it's been going on for years. We are being brainwashed.

  • I remember John Coffee ( "like the drink only not spelled the same") from "The Green Mile" watching the first Astaire/Rogers clip.

  • I was 13 in 1987 and remember crying when Danny Kaye died! Still love him! What a great talent!

  • We lost some amazing talent that year....

  • wow a lotta great people died the year I was born. Sucks.

  • Liberace died of botulism. He had bad meat in the can.

  • i was only 16 years old.

but most of them i don,t know, and i was only looking for danny kaye.

  • I did'nt realize we lost so many great stars in 1987 but what an array of talent Fred Astaire, Ray Bolger the great and cute Danny Kaye Rita Hayworth or Ms Cansino they will be missed forever.

  • ten secinds for some off these guys they deserve an hour

  • Danny Kaye had the heart of peter pan and made his masterpieces appear effortless. He had a true sense for the ridiculous and innocencet, somehow swirling them together. If ever an angel could be a clown, it's Danny.

  • And ten years before in 1977 we "lost" Maria Callas, Elvis, Bing Crosby, Charlie Chaplin and Groucho Marx. But the "memories" live on.

  • Really rough year...I think i miss RAy Bolger, Danny Kaye and Robert Preston the most

  • Same for Jasha Heifetz--only a photo!!!!!

  • 10 seconds for Rita Hayworth???...why the hell bother!!! Insulting!!!!!

  • You should have seen the tears when they showed Ray Bolger.

  • i was born in 1993 and i love classic movies

  • its hard to believe they are all gone, these people were the best ever at what they did

  • Agreed. The truly sad part, there is none like them today; nor do I expect there ever will be. So called "entertainment" is so trashing I can't find anything to laugh at! In addition to these; I really miss Bob Home!

  • Irreplaceable. All of them.

  • legends omg so talented its strange they passed (or rita did) like a week before i was born and i have all her dvds its like a legend never really dies.......like when i watch all 'old movies' im like have they really been gone that long it dosnt seem it! legends there live always stars never really die no one ever really dies*

  • I wasnt born yet when these people died but I know alot of the famous names.

  • We lost so many great entertainers that year and have continued to do so ever since. God Bless all of them for the joy they brought to the world. Thanks for posting.

  • Someone should remember you, mate.

  • AH, the LEFTIST LOON, BROKAW in the early years....molding his character that continues to this day

  • Who is dancing with Rita Hayworth at the beginning of the video?

  • That is also Fred Astaire. Rita Hayworth started out as a dancer--a very good one.

  • Thanks you very much for this video. It was a good moment to see again these wonderful artists.

  • Rest in peace, Mr. Kaye. Thanks for everything. :)

  • the only people i know is fred and scarecrow he was my favorite from the wizerd of oz and lion

  • I was in 5th grade when these beautiful legends passed on...RIP...

  • And I thought this was a bad year for deaths. We tend to freak out over how few Golden era stars are currently still with us, but when you're reminded that already TWENTY years ago people might have been having similar worries regarding the loss of so many old stars, it really just make it sink in more. As does realizing just who/what we're being left with as a replacement.

  • RIP Danny Kaye. He is my favorite actor and his comedy, acting, music, etc. will never die RIP.

  • did he play in sing in the rain with gene kelly the did the make'em laugh song?

  • Rita Hayworth what a gal....

Jackie Gleeson he was just so funny in Smoky & the Bandit & as for Liberace know one can hit those ivorys like him what a showman...Danny Kaye now there is a shinning star...Godrest them all in this brillaint tribute.....

  • A year where we lost the best.

  • god, bit of a bad year for musical greats, fred rita and danny. very moving thankyouxx

  • Astaire, Kaye, Hayworth, Bolger, Fosse, even Warhol...I'm glad I was just a little kid in 87. It would have been awfully tough to go through the loss of so many talented people all in one year.

  • wow one more unforgetable year is correct!so many wondefull ppl gone but they left there legacys with all there wonderfull Imprints on each and every one of us , thanks for posting this.

  • i was born in 1987 : (

  • Danny Kaye was a talented actor and very funny. RIP, Danny.

  • Nice way to talk about lovely Rita Zebonka! There are nicer ways to say you find someone

    "really, really attractive"....grow up

  • Yes, she was lovely.

  • Sure Miss, Lee Marvin, Buddy Rich and Danny Kaye. But how has ever heard the story of Jackie Gleason and one of the Presidents showing him the Alien Crafts and dead Alien bodies? I cannot remember which President but that story is out there for people who want to know. I guess Jackie went home that night tripping out. He told his wife this story. Could be true, I thought it was interesting.

Now watch people slam me. lol

  • Robert Preston is my grandfather's cousin. I'M NOT KIDDING!!!

  • OMG SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE GONE...i HAD NO iDEA THEY ALL DiED THE SAME YEAR. =[

  • Yes, so sad. Imagine. How wonderful they were.

  • I'm sure you mean that as a compliment, Zebonka, with regards to Miss Hayworth.

Why don't you Zenonka yourself. First "get real"; and second, get a real name.

    You fool.

  • Oh fuck off, 'mrsthrale'. Jesus, talk about a hypocrite.

  • Wow! I never realized how hot she was. I think I have a chubby.

  • For anyone out there.,how can i find other videos like this one but different years?????? specially for the year 2000-2002.

  • hard to believe it has been more than twenty years... wow!

  • No one is getting out of here alive.

  • Man so many great people all dieing in one year, that year must have sucked

  • Kaye, Marvin, Astaire wow bad year

  • wow i didn't know that Astaire, Bolger, Fosse and Kaye died the same year

  • 1987 was very hard - losing Hayworth and Astaire in the same year. They were magical.

  • Wow, 1987 lost a lot of good people. Astaire, Hayworth, Kaye, Fosse, Liberace....wow. =[
