AT&T Elevate 4G mobile hotspot with LTE reception

This is a product but the point of the matter is that AT&T is only giving 5g no unlimited plans . Personally I used 30g in a month just because I have no computer an everything I do it's in my iPhone 4 . An the wifi in my house is poor I run AT&T 3G on the iPhone until now that att is slowing down heavy usage ppl running an unlimited plan . So what's on the market as far ass mobile hot spots with unlimited plans of usage ??

has anyone been able to go to the personalize site att.elevate won't connect for me, need help figuring out how to connect my laptop to this device

@jewlyann You shouldn't need to sign in to connect. Just go to the wireless networks and select the elevate and select connect. When prompted put in the WEP number that is displayed on the Elevate. If you want to sign in to att.elevate/ I think the default password is: attadmin

Here where I live in southeast Michigan the speeds on the ATT HSPA+ network are averaging 3-6megs down and 1-1.6megs up. I bet there is a firmware update coming soon which will boost your speeds. Great Video!!!! Please keep us posted.

Very interesting and I have a question for you. Is the sim card in the Elevate the same as what is used in 4G phones? I was told it uses a new micro sim which is new. Can you verify this? If so I will purchase an Elevate and use the SIM from my HTC Inspire. I was reading a tech article about the ATT Lte speeds in Chicago. ATT said they do not own as much of the 700 MHz spectrum in Chicago as they do in other markets such as here in Michigan which could be the result of slower speeds.

@2040Tech I never said the Inspire was an LTE phone but rather referred to using the sim card from my Inspire in the ATT Elevate 4G LTE hotspot. And yes LTE (Long Term Evolution) is true 4G which is short for 4th generation technology. You are correct LTE (700 MHz/AWS) and HSPA+ (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) utilize different radios.

@barrypopins LTE is not true 4G but LTE Advanced is infact true 4G the specifications for 4G by IMT-Advanced is that the speeds download are supposed to be 1Gbps (motionless) & 500Mbps (in motion) and the Upload speeds 325Mbps (motionless) & 100Mbps (in motion) regular LTE hits about 20Mbps down and 10Mbps up :)

@2040Tech LTE and LTE Advanced are both 4th generation technologies. The theoretical speeds established by IMT-Advanced are more theory than reality in the real world environment because it would take a complete overhual of the entire network throughout the US and that is just not going to happen. People with Verizon FIOS FTTH usually never get anywhere near advertised peak speeds. In short the network here in the US will never see true LTE Advanced speeds....just not possible yet.

@barrypopins #1 LTE is short for 3GPP LTE (3GPP is the company who designed LTE) and 3GPP stands for 3RD Generation Partnership Project #2 Countries outside the US have already achieved 4G speeds on a cellular network (around 500 - 300 Mbps) #3 I have Verizon FiOS and they never ever once advertised their speeds they advertised a VERY FAST NETWORK but their speed tiers are 5/1 15/5 25/25 (which I have and is the standard) 35/35 50/20 and 150/35 (measured in Mbps DOWN/UP) #5 research before post!

@2040Tech I am not getting into a pissing match here. #1) I don't care what speeds OTHER countries claim. The countries that might achieve those speeds are smaller and have been building their networks with fiber for years . HERE in the U.S. the telco's will NEVER achieve Gigabit per second data rates on a national scale because they will not spend the money upgrading. Maybe cities like New York with tons of fiber and spectrum but asolutely will never happen with our current infastructure.

@2040Tech #2) You had better check the Verizon site because I believe they claim "Ultra fast broadband internet" Check the FIOS speedtest videos on youtube and you will see people don't get the advertised speeds. It's fast, but not what it should be considering FIOS is 100% fiber. #3)You obviously do research in great detail. Kind of like the guys that say a Chevy is faster than a Ford because of the engine specs they read about in a magazine.

@2040Tech Like I said , I am not going to argue here. Yes you pointed out exact specific details that simply are irrelevant. Our wireless networks share the same data "lanes of traffic" used by the cable companies and telco's( FIOS, Uverse, DSL). There is simply not enough infastructure to achieve wireless data rates of 150/300/500Mbps on a nationwide scale. At&t , Verizon, Sprint, etc know this so that is why they are now branding it "LTE". Thats all I have to say about that:)
