this picture in question is from a video clip from the time robert johnson was alive.. It is owned by a man in memphis and was not released in 41-42, but was cound in a box from that year. It has been looked by clapton, gibbons who said the hands look the same. So a comference was held by Steve lavere (who owns the rights to the johnson estate and lives here) and invited johny shines and robert lockwood jr. Both 100% said this is not robert johnson. So now you may consider case closed

It can't be Robert Johnson because the film being advertised in the background (not shown here) was released in 1941-42. Johnson died in 1938. Case is closed.

@valkour22 I am watching this in 2011, what does that mean? Nothing. If this were Robert Johnson and Robert Johnson died in 1938, then I would expect to see posters in the background from when ever the date he was supposedly playing or earlier. Not later. If someone films me playing the mandolin in a public square or infront of a store front, I doubt there will be posters of 2026 on the walls.Unless you are talking about wormholes, your comment makes no sense.

historian mack mccornick has at least one unpublised photo of robert johnson and probably several others in his possesion. When he dies a biography will be publised with enormous detailed information about robert johnson called "biography of a phantom".

The pic at 11-14 seconds is NOT Johnson, though for a while there had been some debate. It's a still from a few seconds of silent footage that turned out to be dated 1940, 2 years after RJ succumbed to pneumonia after having been poisoned outside Greenwood, MS. The fella in the shot I'm mentioning remains anonymous. The photo was his only legacy.

Mud is absolutely correct. The footage was a dud. Ask Jimmy Page and Robert Plant about it. They paid a real price for the actual copy, circa 1995. Further research showed otherwise, due to dates and location of film......

That poto ofthe man in the white shrit is NOY R.L. It is taken from a short film clip that was going around about ten years ago.The movie theather he is standing in frount of is showing a flim thatcame out a few years after Robert died.....Even Lockwood said it wasn't him.

There are only TWO confirmed photos of him in existance. One a stamp sized photo of him with a cigerette in his mouth, the other a full length portrade wearing a suit and a hat. In the 1990s it was rumored that a video had been found of Johnson, but this video was anaylsed by several experts and confirmed NOT to be Robert Johnson.
