  • Saw FIF at the Illinois Teen Christian Festival in Springfield, IL. I don't remember the year but FIF was there and so Audio Adrenaline. This band is what got me into ska. I also saw them on the Vans warped tour got to talk to the lead singer and I thanked him for his music. It was awesome.

  • stopped believing in a skydaddy but I still believe in this band

  • @drunkenthor Hear hear!

  • Everyone who thinks that this song is about bands selling out... it's not. It's about people like you who hate bands because they get popular, "Do you think that they're too cool now? Being popular is lame. You're the one that made them popular, all the songs are still the same!"

So don't say this applies to Green Day, he's saying that you shouldn't blame the band if they get popular because they're good.

  • Best.Band.E V E R!!

  • i remember back in march 2003 my now exboyfriend started talking about ska and I was confused. i didn't know if it was a band or what. i went to his house and he played fif and oh my f***ing god, they were awesome. (excuse my language) i saw one of their last show in cincinnati, oh 2003

  • @angie02071962 I was at that show too. Fun times!

  • The move that Brad does at 1:14 = WIN

  • Take THAT, Green Day

  • since when was fif not superstars??

  • i luv this band five iron frenzy helped me refind my faith in god

  • Mxpx is still Christen, just not a "christen" band just like alot of other huge bands Like U2 or Josh Groban

  • um secret weapon seems to have a pretty predominant message i think and now that you're on fire most definitely speaking of being on fire with faith so i think that would classify them as a Christian band not a band of Christians

  • This song is about not being like everyone else and not being an "average joe"

  • Yeah. They were always Christian. T

  • FIF is the soundtrack to my childhood (along with MXPX and Ghoti Hook of course). I would surrender and appendage for the chance to see them live.

  • I'm pretty sure I saw all three of them live at the same show once in Lancaster, PA.

  • thanks... just rub it it... haha thats pretty freaking awesome though.

and I know I'm about 3 months late, but that "and" up there is supposed to be "an"

  • agreed sir

  • @teenlabotomy89 I got to shake Reese Roper's hand at a private screening of their new DVD last week. I almost died.

  • @EonsLost93 Sweeeeeeeet, I'm jealous. How was the DVD? I might just have to watch it lol

  • @teenlabotomy89 It was pretty freaking great. Look up The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy. It's a 3 hour documentary about their entire history as a band, start to inhuman finish. DVD includes all of their music videos and I think 2 full live sets. All for $25ish. Beast.

  • @EonsLost93 Awesome, I'll hafta see if I can find it. Thanks.

  • @EonsLost93 I have it too. good stuff.

  • MTV didn't take it because the song totally describes everything MTV is! They wrote the book on selling out!

The quality is a million times better than a lot of stuff they have put on in the past.

I wonder what the 'M' is in MTV nowadays, since they don't even play any music videos anymore...

  • How? This song is about kids that don't like music because it's popular.

  • MXPX was never ska.

  • but at one time weren't they a Christian band- like when they first started?

  • or like 2008 when their last cd secret weapon came out...

  • Really!?!? Never knew that... how'd you find out..?

  • @keipupule MxPx was in the Christian ska scene? News to me.

I heard it was about Green Day.

  • moron. MXPX didnt walk away from the christian scene until after 2000. This song came out in like '96 or '97. And MXPX was never ska, FYI.

  • @7Greyfox7 This song is about people who snub bands for being popular. It's likely that as FIF took off, they had fans saying that they "sold out."

  • @FW1337 Very well could have been. But the caption remarks that the video was meant to go to MTV and make them bigger... I know why they didn't play it!

They know they'd be the biggest hypocrites on this side of TV!

  • @7Greyfox7 It stands for mediocre

  • @7Greyfox7 M for...Mediocre?

  • @7Greyfox7 The "M" stands for "moronic".

  • This song is awesome, it is too bad the video didn't match the quality otherwise FIF might have had more exposure

  • old. school. never gets old...

  • /sigh, i miss them.

  • i went to their last concert, it was amazing

    FIF ROCKS!

  • ^_^ ska is definitely the best!! i'm can be exaclty how the lyrics are...i hate crazy fandoms...but i think i've become more open-minded... a genuine fan is more different from a crazy fan...

  • Damn. I just referenced this song while commenting another video and just had to come listen to it to remind myself how much this song has impacted my outlook. I use to be just like this song describes.

  • Anyone else hear any reunion tour rumors...?

  • i dont think so i think that they are apart for good

  • They're having a reunion concert....

  • ooh ! ooh! theres a rumor right there!!!

  • why would they do a reunion tour when reese is doing brave saint saturn?

  • that is just a rumor... I dont think it is true... If it was it would be cool. but it says nothing about that on their website, so ya it is just a rumor.

  • actually last summer they did a showing at an event called SoulFest in New Hampshire under the name Reese and His Five Iron Friends

  • "I think if we ever had a reunion tour you should make us all eat a handful of mayonaise"- Reese Roper. :( That's from wikipedia though so I can't be absolutely sure it's true

  • five iron is the bst christian ska band ever. insyderz and supertones close second tie. and dont be sad about the breakup they did their part in life and now they continue to do what makes them happy like have a family and start a church.

  • i like five iron so much more than real big fish. but i like the song by real big fish "i'm drunk again" or whateve.r

  • i should think the songs out of date the song came out in 96'

  • Good songs live forever.

  • bands like this stopped while bands like reel big fish continued?! what a crappy world we live in

  • what.. last time i checked they were both third wave ska bands, with the same basic style.. ur high man

  • i want five iron back

  • i miss five iron dude, i miss them alot.

  • the song is excellent, but the video is just lame...

  • im an atheist. but i like some of their songs. and this is one of my favourites! :) but i prefer the live version

  • same here, about the live version part.

  • amazing song. period.

  • What was with this gorilla motif? O.o

Anyway, I can see why this video didn't go anywhere, but I've always loved this song. FIF forever.

  • are u kidding? fif rule!

  • this is the best song ever!!!

  • Man, I miss this band....

  • Did you just ask if they ever had a bad day? Did you ever bother to listen to any of their songs?

  • I love this song ^_^ and this band is like the best, it is quite a shame they broke up, though, they did this because it was God's will so don't be sad ^^

  • "You're the one who made them popular,

all their songs are still the same."

Boo yah! Is it about music, or is it about fashion?

  • one of the best bands live period

  • Oh man, these guys played such punk rock shows back in the day

and Reese is always so full of energy. It's hard to imagine if that guy ever had a bad day in his life

  • so talented. This band was just the best of the best in terms of musicianship and message.

  • they r awsum

  • pssh, I am gald it didnt make it in mtv, I hate that channel.

  • I hate it too, but I still wish this video had made it, cause then they might've become popular.

    Sigh...

  • they were very popular already though..and I never saw fif as a band that wanted to make themselves very popular

  • this is definitely the recorded version dubbed over the live video...sup wid dat???

  • Being a high schooler in Colorado while these guys were playing local shows was great. Best years of my life. Upbeats and beatdowns was like the theme album to my sophmore year.

We loved them. And still do! RIP FIF!

  • such a great band. out of their many songs they created, most of them are hits. still my all-time favorite band

  • This brings me back. I used to love these guys. What a sad day it was when they broke up.

  • does anyone know where i can get a copy of Our newest video ever?

  • A great band who I'm glad never hit super stardom

I remember listening to these guys when I was pretty young, still love them.

  • i think every so called punker than you idiot out there should listen to this song and realize its true.

  • As soon as i can get my hands on my brothers FIF CD's, i plan on making an MV for each and every of the songs.

  • FIF lives on!!!!!!!!

  • Five iron frenzy DVD anyone?

  • One of their best songs. FIF will live on!

  • r.i.p. five iron. fourth wave of ska on the horizon...

  • awesome !!!!

  • wow.. best sound i've ever heard from a five iron frenzy vid on youtube. we need better vids people!!!

  • Anyone know what Reese is up to these days?

  • Yeah, Reese also sang for Brave Saint Saturn for a while

  • That was about 2 years ago though. His band Roper is also discarded. So I don't know what he does these days.

  • he's working on a side project with josh dies of showbread!

  • no way, thats sick

  • since roper went bust, i've been missing me some reese action.

  • hes on myspace? search for him, hes lurking out there being reese somewhere in cyberspace.

  • This was the best live Christian Band I ever saw.

  • FIF pwnd so hard i still love them <--- agree !!! best band ever!!!

  • FIF pwnd so hard i still love them

  • It's true, most of the stuff today is t3h sux. Five Iron Frenzy always kept it awesome! ^o^ I wish they would come back too
