Saw FIF at the Illinois Teen Christian Festival in Springfield, IL. I don't remember the year but FIF was there and so Audio Adrenaline. This band is what got me into ska. I also saw them on the Vans warped tour got to talk to the lead singer and I thanked him for his music. It was awesome.
Everyone who thinks that this song is about bands selling out... it's not. It's about people like you who hate bands because they get popular, "Do you think that they're too cool now? Being popular is lame. You're the one that made them popular, all the songs are still the same!"
So don't say this applies to Green Day, he's saying that you shouldn't blame the band if they get popular because they're good.
i remember back in march 2003 my now exboyfriend started talking about ska and I was confused. i didn't know if it was a band or what. i went to his house and he played fif and oh my f***ing god, they were awesome. (excuse my language) i saw one of their last show in cincinnati, oh 2003
um secret weapon seems to have a pretty predominant message i think and now that you're on fire most definitely speaking of being on fire with faith so i think that would classify them as a Christian band not a band of Christians
@teenlabotomy89 It was pretty freaking great. Look up The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy. It's a 3 hour documentary about their entire history as a band, start to inhuman finish. DVD includes all of their music videos and I think 2 full live sets. All for $25ish. Beast.
@FW1337 Very well could have been. But the caption remarks that the video was meant to go to MTV and make them bigger... I know why they didn't play it!
They know they'd be the biggest hypocrites on this side of TV!
^_^ ska is definitely the best!! i'm can be exaclty how the lyrics are...i hate crazy fandoms...but i think i've become more open-minded... a genuine fan is more different from a crazy fan...
Damn. I just referenced this song while commenting another video and just had to come listen to it to remind myself how much this song has impacted my outlook. I use to be just like this song describes.
that is just a rumor... I dont think it is true... If it was it would be cool. but it says nothing about that on their website, so ya it is just a rumor.
"I think if we ever had a reunion tour you should make us all eat a handful of mayonaise"- Reese Roper. :( That's from wikipedia though so I can't be absolutely sure it's true
five iron is the bst christian ska band ever. insyderz and supertones close second tie. and dont be sad about the breakup they did their part in life and now they continue to do what makes them happy like have a family and start a church.
I love this song ^_^ and this band is like the best, it is quite a shame they broke up, though, they did this because it was God's will so don't be sad ^^
Being a high schooler in Colorado while these guys were playing local shows was great. Best years of my life. Upbeats and beatdowns was like the theme album to my sophmore year.

FIF is the soundtrack to my childhood (along with MXPX and Ghoti Hook of course). I would surrender and appendage for the chance to see them live.

I'm pretty sure I saw all three of them live at the same show once in Lancaster, PA.

MTV didn't take it because the song totally describes everything MTV is! They wrote the book on selling out!
The quality is a million times better than a lot of stuff they have put on in the past.
I wonder what the 'M' is in MTV nowadays, since they don't even play any music videos anymore...

How? This song is about kids that don't like music because it's popular.

Wrong this song is about MXPX and how they walked away from the christian ska scene !! FYI

MXPX was never ska.

but at one time weren't they a Christian band- like when they first started?

@keipupule MxPx was in the Christian ska scene? News to me.
I heard it was about Green Day.

moron. MXPX didnt walk away from the christian scene until after 2000. This song came out in like '96 or '97. And MXPX was never ska, FYI.

@7Greyfox7 This song is about people who snub bands for being popular. It's likely that as FIF took off, they had fans saying that they "sold out."
