  • I remember going to this with my Dad i was about 5 at the time i remember crying because it was too loud lol

  • Its like everything else in Wigan...I lived there in the 70's & when I came back 30 years later I couldn't even drive round the soddin' place. The Town Centre - ruined. The westwood towers....gone....the Baths....demolished. Wigan Council are tossers and have ruined Wigan

  • My uncle was the manager of Westwood Power Station, I think around 87 he transferred to the power station in Manchester. I was watching this come down at the top of Bryn with the view of Wigan in the distance. Pity we never took any photos or had a video camera at the time, not until exactly a year later that is. I wonder if anyone has any home video of this particular event; the only one i'v seen is this local news footage.

  • Wigan council is determined to try and ruin the wonderful nature site which has grown from the demolition of the power station. First was the failure of Westwood industrial estate, which now consists of 2 roads 2 roundabouts, giro bank which was already there, Council building they dumped there its show its being used and a perfect haven for druggies and bunrt out cars. Then came the dual carrage way which got canceled but not after wasting millions on filling in a flash. WelldunWigan Council
