Empathy is not the same thing as religious conversion, even if you mean well. Saying, "oh I'm helping you by saving you from hell" just isn't the same thing as, "I just performed CPR on you for fifteen minutes and saved your life" no matter how you twist it. I care about other people, and their well being, but personal beliefs are still not your or my business.
@BallydowseRambler Don't know why you would. The only things that come of it are anger, hate, and trolling. It's none of your business who or what I worship, and vice versa.
@killa432546 you don't need a reason to care about someone :) Just good moral. If someones cold I give them my jacket. If someone is sad, I offer them a punching bag. When we accept seperation, then we are doomed! Unity is one step together. I care about alot of things :) If you get shot would you rather someone walk by cause its non of their business what happens to you, or would you rather them care! The human race just can't be that bad! So I care :)

As an agnostic I fully endorse religious groups trying to win people over with good music rather then telling them they are idiots and how to run their lives. That said the people who use others creative works just to push their own view are annoying as well. Though please, if you are going to be petty and fight at least be polite and use high school level punctuation and capitalization. Thank you.
i love all the atheist comments. most people claim to be atheist without truly understanding what it means. but truly i love all these "atheists" commenting on this video!
why does their religious bent matter? I love Skillet and now love these dudes, but im a devout atheist ;) (anyone get the joke?) since when does taste in music require you to have a specific religious view?
I think that everyone has a right to interpret the song as they wish...sure some may have weird interpations but...still no reason to tell them so...just enjoy the music ok
Funny how we, natural in our human nature, have this thought process that we can do a better job being God than God. Unfortunately history shows over and over again that that kind of arrogance leads to destruction.
Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a women with lust you have committed adultery with here in your heart.
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Does this concern you? The Bible says despise the value of your eye compared to the value of your soul. would u sell your eye for a million dollars? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. needgod.com
i like how people say "they are just a christian band" like that has anything to do with it. yes they are christian but music is music, even with God's help they had to put in the foot work dude.
Direct from the liner notes: "I know this song is kind of hard to understand, so without spoon feeding you answers, it's about anyone that looses their objectivity to their human nature. It's about all of us who ever thought that our small minds could come up with a plan greater and more perfect than God's."
my evil plan to save the world - just you wait til it's unfurled, it'll go down in history. it's prophetic, no it's not pathetic. i can't believe i made it up myself!
Actually, I'd have to agree with Charlettmoon. It seems apparent that equidnarojo is over-analyzing. I do it too. I like five iron frenzy, so I can forgive them for being kristjian.
Either way, it's still a good song! haven't heard it in years!! This brings back so many memories of youth group and my child hood! thumbs up for this song.
A Christian then, an Athiest today. Regardless, if it weren't for this group I wouldn't be the person I am today. I remember seeing them with the W's. Wow, I feel old. I am really glad someone posted these tunes.
A christian then. An Athiest now. Regardless, if it weren't for this band I wouldn't be the person I am to this day without them. I remember seeing them with The W's, good times.
does everything have to be all religious? i mean yah it can be taken that way but i just saw a bunch of friends trying to be ironic and they did a damn good job at it too.
I'm not Christian, I have no plans to be Christian, I don't agree with much of the fanatics and fundamentalists make a bad name for modern religions but that doesn't stop this song from being awesome. But it's a song and, much like everything in this world, it is open to interpretation. To me, it sings about the sad truth that no plan, no matter how perfect, will always have evils that come with it, so a triumph for one person is the downfall of another.
@MarshalHopalop And though you have no plans for being Christian, tell me you at least respect true Christians (not the fundementalist, they mine as well not be Christians as far as the bible is concerned( for following something they believe.
@Blackcomic23 I can't even remember where I heard that, but I could tell from the lyrics they were using the views of Deism or logic to make their point. Either way, I have nothing against the song or band at all. I'm aware of they're a Christian ska band, yet not all of their music is a nice as people want to think. Still, they always have a strong message, and more often than not, I agree with them.
@equidnarojo I don't mean to be rude, but I'm sure that they aren't mocking Deism here. What they're mocking is human desire to try and one up God's perfect plan with "Their own plans". They're saying that anything that doesn't come from God is evil, and therefore "My (own human) evil plan to save the world."
I don't mean to say that I hate your views or you're stupid or horrible, I just figure you heard wrong from someone else. *shrug*
@CharlettMoon Why does this has so many ups, I don't think this song is mocking anything. And I think Christianity and God has nothing to do with this song from the beginning, save for the reference to God in the lyrics which is just refering to how the mainstream rules the world.
Sounds to me like you're over-analyzing it. Unless you have a link to one of the band members saying that is what the song is about, I don't see how your interpretation is any more valid than anyone else's. If the point was that god's plan is perfect and we're evil for going against it, then does that mean "starving children in pain" is good, and is part of god's plan? Just examine the narrative structure of the song.
@EccentricSage I have the cd, and Reese explains the song a little in the lyric booklet. It's sorta what @CharlettMoon was saying, basically people trying to make plans that they think are bigger than God's.
Ah, Thanks for pointing that out. I have to say, that kind of ruins the song for me. lol I'm very anti-fatalistic, pro-personal power. I mean, no one knows god's plans even if god exists, so how can anyone really be trying to thwart gods plans or out-do god?
@EccentricSage understood. but look at it this way: if there is a God, and he does love us and has a plan for us, it would seem that things won't always go our way - what's best for us isn't always what we want right off the bat.
in a way, i agree with your pro-personal power stance - sometimes, if we want something done, we just gotta do it and not wait around for it to happen. but i agree with reese much more (as a christian), because if there is a God (i believe there is), we need humility.
@EccentricSage See the quote I posted directly from the lyricist. And "starving children in pain, you can't believe in that God" is clearly not from the perspective of the band, but is a common argument people who believe their plan is greater than God's will use.
