planning to run a cleric that uses the knowledge domain as a purpose or drive in life were starting at level 5 in a pathfinder campaign an its been like 10 years sense i have played D&D would you guys be willing to help me with some ideas so my character isn't broken to the point of being a indifference to my team?
Hey Guys I'm totally new to D&D i'm really looking forward to play this with my friends, I picket up the started edition of amazon decided to play wizard so if theirs any tips you could give Id love to here because my friends all tease me saying I'm going to be rubbish at the game so please help me out :D
@TheMinnimacca Think before you do. I play a sorcerer--the key is to be the calm mind in the sea of testosterone that DND fights can sometimes be. The fighter wants to shield bash the main baddy, the Rogue is trying to backstab said baddy and your archer is shooting at other mobs, but nobody else but you is noticing the cultist who's about to summon some demon or whatnot. That's what magic-users are for--the intellect and the power to get what needs to be done, done.
Cleric can tank like a mother fucka. I play a cleric and I go into the hordes and (distract to villains) My cleric and take a beating and keep on kick , then after the battle I heal my buddies
Why Clerigs are the strongest class? ( part 2 ) And we can't stop by there... there's also the Heal/Mass Heal taht heals up to 150/250 but wait for it... a clerig 10 PRS 10 can cast any cure spell with the maximize and enpower without ANY EXTRA COST... not even turn atempts (such as the divine metamagic feats) that means he can heal up to 225 HP with an 6th level spell and 300HP from many allies/ undeads with a 9th level spell... and i won't even bother talking about the HARM spell!
Why Clerigs are the strongest class? (ok... as strong as druids) they might Cast Divine Power (+6 Str BAB=level 1 temp hp/level) Haste (+1 to AC and reflex, + 30ft of movement extra attack) Holy Aura (+4 deflection to AC, +4 res, SR 25 vs evil) Bull's Strength (+4 for) Righteous Might (size increases, +8 str, +4 nat armor to AC , DR 5/good or evil ) and Greater Spell Imunity... he will be like... 5 babarbarians in 1... and there's more...
Been playing DnD 4e for 2 days now, we have a party of 4 and have completed two encounters. I am a Drow Sorcerer and I friggin' owned some goblins and drakes today!
IMO, u guys have one part of the cleric down, but haven't gone over the true potential of what a clr can be. In my dnd group, clerics aren't forced to heal- they do help people, but they also melee and have gone crazy with spells. The players who play clerics at my group do whatever it is will help the party most, and often that means memorizing maybe a cure light wounds or two a day (with a level 10 ish party), but also going to town with a +4 sword, killing all offending cliches, and
@Pendragondnd once we had a situation when we sneaked up to a gate where a guard was standing. he heard us sneaking through the bushes and asked: who is there?
our bard answered: your grandma!
he rolled a natural 20 for bluffing, the guard a natural 1.
D&D have involved, you should try the D&D online, its cool to see the game in 3D more then you see it on a piece of paper, try it out i am a ranger Arcane Archer so come and lets battle some freaking ogres and orcs
@shakBboy It does sound fun but I spend my whole workday staring bleary eyed at a computer screen so I enjoy any activity that pulls me away and there's nothing like getting together with friends and creating your own original awesome story and rolling dice and eating snacks is fun too :)
you are fucking idiots; clerics are good tanks, healing here and there. if you need a lot of healing, you are either in the wrong place, or the dm is an asshole
@legendsofgrine if its a water based marker, yes. test it on a corner first. use medicinal alchool to clean with some toilet paper :D even if the map is dry
I've only started D&D a few months ago, my cousin got me into it. My current character (and my first) is a fighter named Lirrian. He uses a +2 Bastard sword, a +2 Longbow and I had my shield enhanced by a genie to be completely magic resistant lol. He's pretty cool, I once crippled a vampire who was standing on a tall balcony by shooting the balcony with an arrow of disintegration lol, he fell and was crippled so I popped a stake in his heart lol.
Clerics aren't just heal bots... clerics and fighters are ridiculously customizable. The best archer I've seen anyone make was a fighter and Clerics can make some of the best damn fighters. If you want an actual healer go with... healer. From the minis handbook.
I've been wanting to find a permanent player to play with for a long time: Years now! Hahaha. Finally me and my friend usually play at lunch. We'll be switching from DM to player. I'm creating my character for his campaign today. He is a human Sorcerer. Great tips!
Thanks for the tip! Perhaps we shouldn't have chugged a pot of coffee and guzzled a case of Red bull before shooting, lol. I think you're right though!
O.o umm... The best medic in ability is the Healer from DnD 3.5 Minitures handbook. Class wheps are longspear and crossbow. Also if your broke the tokens are a simple way to represent the minitures. Either by the actual pop out kinds or print out the images and glue them on pennies thats a simple way ^_^;
ya i started playing dnd about meh a year ago me and some friends play one every month i know its sad. so we are still in the prosses of learning the tricks of the trade ( i as dm) just wondering if any one can toss me some advice
As a 20 year vet I do suggest you at least try 4th. All the imbalance and general retardation of 3rd thrown out the window in favor of balance. And even a cleric gets to do cool stuff besides being a healbot.
Thanks, giving more firepower to the cleric is pretty cool, any more examples of things you're really enjoying about 4th? Is it true about the diagonal squares being always 1 move instead of 1. 1.5, 1, 1.5?
Yes. One square is one square in any direction. There are four basic character roles (Controller [Wizard], Defender [Fighter], Leader [Cleric], and Striker [Rogue]) with plenty of variation on each theme so you have several different types of healers that all still get to do cool stuff. No negative ability score mods for races is nice. No level adjustments either. All classes are effective. The rogue can sneak attack undead and constructs.
Sure. In fact if you need any specific info about things you are unsure about by all means feel free to ask. And if you decide to play check the updates on the WotC website before you do. They seem to be paying more attention now and they release update to fix typos and other problems asap.
Multiclassing is doesn't take away from your characterseffectiveness now. You level about every other session. More feats. Feats that scale by tier of play (Heroic [1-20], Paragon [11-20], and Epic [21-30]. Epic play isn't broken. Better magic item creation rules that don't penalize you for making things you need. Although you don't get to make whatever you want it is still better. No skyrocketing economies. In other words you don'[t get a ton of cash off everything you kill.
More ability score bumps. AC doesn't skyrocket to rediculous levels.
For the guy who was told to play a cleric he could have played a bard, cleric, shaman, or warlord and still been an effective healer. And even within each of those classes you have 2 to 3 "builds" or types of clerics for example.
Don't get me wrong there is still some nonsense. Nobody can catch everything but it seems like they are paying more attention now.
