  • Oh come on. Hendrix had skill but ask someone in Japan who Hendrix is. MJ is known throughout the world! Though Jackson was in POP, his inspiration reached WAY WAY WAY more people than Hendrix.

  • heal jackson is DEAD Jimi Hendrix is ALIVE!!!!!!

  • @blackdude57 wrong. The Two Are Legends and will live forver.

  • godzilla moonwalks away from jimi forget king kong

  • Jimi Hendrix imo, and I'm an insane MJ fan. Although both are skilled in different areas. MJ is fucking amazing at singing and dancing, while Jimi Hendrix orgasms through guitar.

  • I don't understand the comparison honestly. Both were wonderful musicians and had different genres, people shouldn't just assume those who listen to pop have less emotion is their music. I'm more of a rock person, but that doesn't mean i haven't listened to pop. Michael jackson also has inspired people outside from just his music. Jimi , even with the little time we have had him, has given a lot also. They are both great and UNCOMPARABLE.

  • As influential as Jimi Henrix was, it wasn't him that opened the door for black musicians worldwide it was Michael Jackson.

The world was still very racist towards blacks at that time, MTV only played rock music from white artists at that time. As soon as they realised they could not ignore Billie jean, that's when black musicians, Lionel richie, prince etc were exposed to a bigger audience.

The most famous person in the world from china to africa was Michael jackson.

    Look at MTV now. ..

  • You can like whoever you want to better. But if you think that Michael Jackson is better than Hendrix you're wrong. Hendrix influenced all GOOD rock music. At this point in time it would be jackson. But if you take hendrix seriously and listen to his music youll see how much emotion he put into his songs.

  • @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll Hendrix was amazing and sure he has influenced rockers today that kick ass on the guitar but MJs message reached way tooooo many more people than Hendrix!

  • @Tanui9 No. Jimi Hendrix indirectly influenced way more people. More people can relate to Michael Jackson because most people listen to crappy music today. Justin Bieber is right now more popular than both of them. That doesn't mean he is better. Popularity and influence have very little to do with each other. Jimi Hendrix changed everything. Michael Jackson was great but the people he influenced are ruining popular music.

  • @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll I appreciate where you coming from brother but totally disagree. Popularity and influence (unfortunately as it may be) do go hand in hand. Whether that influence is positive or in the direction YOU like is different. I got that you want more depth to your music. I think you are collapsing what you like with influence.

  • @Tanui9 By the transitive property, you have just said that Justin Bieber is one of the most influential artists of all time. I totally disagree with you and nothing you say I will even take into consideration. Michael Jackson is NOT more influential than Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix was a genius of not only guitar but music in general. Hendrix influenced a lot more musicians to make music that they felt not just music that was popular or easier to market to the masses.

  • @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll "I totally disagree with you and nothing you say I will even take into consideration." Nothing left for me to say then brother! We can agree though.....Jimmy Hendrix was freaking awesome!

  • these are SOME of artists influenced by mj- Usher,Akon,Beyonce,(unfortunately justin bieber),Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Maria Carey, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus AND there are lots more. MJ winns!!!!

  • @MICHAELJACKSONisgod1 Yeah those people who are big for five minutes then the world moves on? You wanna know who was influenced by Hendrix? Every good rock artist through 1966-to now.

  • why are people downing mj..wtf?!?!...mj was by far the most known artist in the history of the world...his talent connected with everyone

  • 'Who are the most influential music artists?'

answer: Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Venom, Metallica, Iron Maiden.

  • Oh stop it--it depends on what kind of music you like. Both were geniuses--but Jimi's life was cut way too short-he didnt get the chance to share as much as Michael Jackson did. I like Jimi Hendrix, but I love Michael Jackson's music. Both of their legacies have an impact, they were extraordinary.

    RIP Michael and Jimi

  • Jimi Hendrix had only 3 years to be so influential. Michael Jackson had since he was a child. In that sense Jimi accomplished way more in a smaller amount of time.

  • @SaypheZonE still Michael made the biggest hits of all time within 1 year.. Beat It, Thriller, Billie Jean.

  • They're both my all time favorite artists and I REALLY can't compare the two. They pretty much cancel each other out.

  • Chuck Berry > Elvis Presley

  • Dancing is not music, dancing is like a monkey trying to get out of the cage, Jimi Hendrix wins, he's a true legend, he will always be remembered by the great people, not the stupid american mainstream, don't reply to this comment, I don't wanna read your crap about "Michael Jackson made a whole new genre" Pop is not music how about that? fuck you go to hell all of you who like one single Pop song

  • @chaclapa guitar is NOT music.

Dancing proves that you have skills within music, also moving to the beat. Also Michael was much more than just a dance. Go to hell yourself, for being incompetent. I don't wanna reach such comments with no sense.

You know Michael is bigger, he is better..

  • @rOlfFafaN You suck, get a brain.

  • @chaclapa if I didn't have a brain, I would be the smartest person without a brain, think about it.

  • The last guy at 4:05 hit the nail right on the head and the last black guy looked like a f*&king lunatic!

  • This is stupid and they are different! Michael Jackson is a pop star and Jimi Hendrix is a rock star...I respect Michael---grew up on his music, but I prefer Jimi Hendrix.

  • Hendrix aaaaaaaaaaall the way.

  • Hendrix was born first and he was way more succeesful and smart and black haha I hate Michael Jackson that petafiller!

  • Hendrix stayed black that creeper mj didn't haha!!!

  • @dogkiller07 yes, right.

What if you had a skin disease, that you couldn't control?

Tell me are you fucking retarded or something.. you must be. successful? smarter?

    Dogkiller07 the fucking retarded.

  • jimi hendrix is way better

  • I love them both very much! They were brilliant and unique, but so were Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison! How the fuck can you compare 2 geniuses who did completly different types of music? Whoever did this video is a moron who only wanted us to fight... IDIOT!

  • jimi hendrix, there is a reason hes called a legend, also castles made of sand is mutch better than thriller

  • Hendrix man All along the watchtower is fucking incredible.

  • I love Jimi and Michael, they both were amazing talents :)

  • Yeah Michael Jackson might have died blah blah. But Jimi Hendrix was 10 times as good as Michael Jackson. Compared to Hendrix, Michael jackson sucks. Im sorry to anyone who thinks Michael Jackson is better, but YOU ARE WRONG. Oh yeah Michael Jackson could dance and sing and crap but you don't see him creating his own style of music. JImi Hendrix's music has been long remember. Over 40 years. And it keeps continuing. His music has inspired millions of musicians. Jimi Hendrix was a genius.

  • Well isn't this funny?!? Jimi Hendix and Michael Jackson are my heroes. :) How am I just now seeing this? Please explain to me though, why are we comparing?

  • the comparison stemmed from a very stupid argument with a group of people thus bringing on this sketch/survey

  • Because people can be one sided, but when they compare they forget fans that like both and are not biased from preference rather by facts. Jimi and MJ are way to amazing to be compared. It is pointless. Both were amazing musician, one was a guitarist who had to little time, and one was an amazing artist that was humiliated and framed and was not see as a genius rather as a clown by the media despite his innocence and hard charity work, both amazing again rather see a duet.

  • you really think MJ was framed?

  • Well think about it, the kid in 2005 said it was all a lie because his father wanted to get off from being a poor man. His father did commit suicide after Mj died and a newspaper of Mj death was right next to him when he hanged himself. Also the kids questions were answered wrong. Nothing was proven for 17 years. Mj settled for money because he wanted to be left alone he was naive and received a stupid advice as I recall, he fought and was found non guilty.. after 17 years of shame.

  • well wasn't it a fact that he did like to have kids sleep in his bed though? cause regardless, that is a little out there.

  • See the problem with Michael Jackson was that he was naive and though that was not wrong. He said it was sleeping next to a child that was scared of being alone in a mansion. Now, Michael Jackson was different, but like Lisa Marie Presley said, the kids i nthe house would not let Mj even use the restroom without them wanting to be with him. Mj like a naive innocent kid, did not see anything wrong with that remember he was using drugs to calm physical and mental pain. Thus, was use against him.

  • @RandomFlicks What happened to the phrase innocent until proven guilty? Michael was NEVER proven guilty.

  • Michael was influenced as well by Jimi. MJ did play instrument since his dad made every boy in the Jacksons play guitar, drums, and bass. So did MJ and his mom taught him Piano. Michael Jackson was an amazing musician, but so was Jimi, comparing both is so fucken stupid. Jimi composed notes and created news sounds and was the first to mix soul and blues with amazing guitar rock funk in it. Mj composed and sampled songs in a larger scale. Both diff genre, why compare. rather see a a duet.

  • @squallthegriever You are EXACTLY right.

  • no idea. both awesome and the best of their genres. until steve vai. he replaced jimi hendrix

  • I Now Like Both, Listening to MJ first, then I started listening to Jimi. MJ influenced most of the pop and R&B culture,as well putting those new artists on the map, because lets face it we wouldnt see:Janet,Usher,Bobby. if it wasn't for him.the only reason i say that is because

MTV never showed any of the Black artist music until he came around..Now Jimi mastered guitar,he could beat elvis,& he was an inventor of new sounds on the guitar as wel.l Michael= king of pop Jimi=King of rock guitar

  • MICHAEL JACKSON!!!!

duh he influenced the WORLD, in not just music,

    ..........who is Jimi Hendrex anyway???

  • rofl you dont know jimi hendrix!? Typical little kids of the new generation. They listen to whatever the media feeds them and forget about the legends of the past. Michael Jackson only appears influential because of the massively funded advertising campaign backing him. Jimmi hendrix was a true legend. Anyways it goes Beatles, Elvis, Hendrix.

  • excuse me, LITTLE KID, yea please, i am not a lil kid, i've listened to MJ my whole life

MJ is da KING OF POP

is Jimi wats his face the king of anything,

Michael was in da music business since he was 5, FIVE!!!

Jimmi isn't even on da same level

  • Jimi Hendrix was the king of Guitar.

Hendrix did more in 4 years than most people do in 30 years. :D

  • Oh he is the king of pop now that he is dead? Just a year ago he would star in movies as a pedophile and be shown as crazy but now that he is dead he is given the title king of pop? How ridiculous. Sorry MJ doesnt even began to scratch the surface of Jimmis influential career. Every rock band you see in the modern world was influenced by Jimmi Hendrix directly or indirectly. Hendrix was the king of Guitar, it was all from him. MJs little dances has nothing on that.

  • Bitch, you need to shut da fuck up, he got da title The King of Pop, in 1984 you dumb fuck.

ok so SOME pple think he crazy that dont mean he is, he not crazy or a pediphile so shut up cus u don't even kno wast ur talkin about.

  • Him being in the music business at 5 isn't as good as you make it sound. He was active for more than 30 years and achieved so little compared to artists such as the Beatles or Hendrix who didn't last more than 10 years. I would call that pathetic. I have nothing against MJ, he is an amazing artists and I would rather listen to him than Jimmi Hendrix but that doesn't mean I can be ignorant and say that MJ is greater because he is not and thats the fact all bias aside.

  • just leave me alone and stop talkin to me,

MJ is better end of discussion, topic is over,

    movin,

    LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

  • @KittyKat7794, agreed! I'm with you all the way! Michael Jackson is simply THE king of pop!

  • Michel Jackson is not even close to Jimi Hendrix, not even close.

  • @grga888 at being less popular?

  • guitar. but not anymore steve vai is better

  • I love both of these men equally. They're both my heroes but for you to sit here and diss Sir Hendrix like this I must speak piece. Jimi Hendrix taught HIMSELF how to play every music instrument he touched. He wrote a MAJORITY almost ALL of the music he released. He was LIGHTYEARS beyond people in his time. I could go on. DO NOT DISS EITHER! Because you my dear obviously are oblivious.

  • Who dissed Jimi? How dare they! Jimi may not be the BEST of guitarist but he was one hell of a unique and amongst the best of guitarist. Heck he is in his own league. His influences even evolve around The Beatles later music, like SGT Peppers. Even prince and Mj looked at him as a guitar genius and soul filled lyrics. Almost as sad when they say MJ was just pop when he is in Rock, Soul and Songwriters hall of fame twice, something not many ROCK/Soul artist are in. Shame on those ppl

  • @KittyKat7794 why do you try to bash jimmy? they are both sucessfull black artists.

  • @KittyKat7794 WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKIN` ABOUT? You need to grow up little girl... (By the way, it`s HENDRIX) When you`ll discover Jimi, then you`ll have the guts to speak about him, but until then, please shut up, you`re makin` a fool of yourself!

  • Jimi <3

  • Jimi Hendrix 100%. in my book. if you love rock, love guitar, and love the idea of a true rock icon, then its Hendrix without a doubt... but if you want to dance, grab your croch, make funny sounds, and are into a lot of very very odd things to do in life, then your choice is Michael.

  • H E N D R I X

    Last guy nailed it

  • BOTH

  • MJ is GLOBAL! he wins hands down! Many ppl even Worshiped MJ cause thats how much they LOVE him! Many ppl wanted/want to be like MJ! MJ is THE KING OF POPULATION,MUSIC,DANCE & HUMANITARIAN<3 LONG LIVE THE KING!

  • 2:31 is my favourite answer because of the honesty half of the people who answered probably don't even know any of their songs

  • Hendrix is too damn funky.

  • most of them are kids who say mj, they dont even know about jimi hendrix, there are some who dont even know jimi hendrix like the guy in red lol

  • last one is to true

  • i love both very dearly, both AMAZING performers with a talent unmatched. BUT, in terms of influence and all that, its definitely, without a doubt, no questions asked michael jackson. the only person that would rival michael is elvis presley. thats it. !

  • The fact that Hendrix' name STILL comes up nearly 40 years after his death pretty much answers the question. 'Nuff said.

  • michael jackson only dance good he didnt were a very very good singer

jimi hendrix influenced all guitarrist and he dinddt play only one style he played blues rock funk physcodelic etc

    jimi hendrix was the best

  • michael is way better he is the king of pop and is in the rock and roll hall of fame hes wasnt even that much of a rock and roll artist and hes still in it he sold way more music made more money and had a longer hendrix may be good and influenced guitar but michael influenced dancing and music and created one of the most popular dance moves

  • @200000287 No. No. Hendrix influenced a lot more people. He played so loud so his music would be heard by the soul. Michael Jackson can sell records till the end of time but he will NEVER be as important as Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix INVENTED the guitar solo.

  • I'd def. say Hendrix is way more influential than Jackson. He changed the music in my book with his insane guitar playing. I'd say he pushed music way further than Jackson did and could of. If Hendrix was never around, I believe rock and really any music would sound way diffrent.

  • Thank you for making this video guys.

  • I've heard of this Michael Jackson fellow. Didn't his head catch on fire while he was selling Pepsi?

  • The guy at 3:45 is clever.

  • And the dancing guy at 2:18 is hilarious XD

  • Chase Turner was PERFECTLY unctuous!...Sign him up for the Game Show Network!

  • yeah, when we shot this all I was thinking in my head was, this is the role he was born for.

    --Sean

  • MICHAEL JACKSON? It's more than baffling that anyone would even think to compare this over-produced pop singer/dancer with any serious musician. Michael was cute, fun, talented, and strange. His work is derivative and crowd-pleasing. It's little more than sophisticated bubble-gum pop. Please don;t even THINK of comparing this pop entertainer with serious musicians.

  • @mattboy1981, Michael Jackson owns Jimi Hendrix BADly.

  • @mattboy1981 1st he isnt sum over produced pop singer and he is a serious musician thats why his stuff stands out than the other pop acts didnt jus do pop genre hes done blues rock, soul, dance, alot of genre's he mixes the styles i mean even beatles producer geroge martin said there is sumfin special & unique abt michael while him and mcartney were recording say say say a genius n a studio jus read abt any1 with experince with him he really works with his stuff n makes it art nt jus messing

  • Comment removed

  • it's hard to chose, Bach influenced hip hop, jazz and rock a little, but Mozart was pretty much king of pop

  • Micheal jackson's main claim to fame was that he was the first artist to inspire both the rock and black music genre's. The time when he hit it off people tended to only listen to one or the other. He bridged this gap is is now why we have some many cross genre music styles today.

Hendrix however was massively influential to the rock genre and technical musicians.

So i suppose it comes down to what angle you approach the question from.

  • Michael Jackson was more influential with pop culture because he had more hits and his legendary dance moves. Jimi Hendrix had more of an influence with musicians. It's safe to say that a large majority of guitarists in this world can cite Jimi Hendrix as a big influence.
