I love Moffat's writing and didn't mindf River being revealed as Melody. Not everything has to be shockingly new. But I also found this funny as hell, and agreed with his rants on the other episodes like the Pirates and the Grangers.

And "Fuck Doctor Who" is actually "Do what you want" so...

i think the first half of the series was pretty shocking, but the second half i loved, apart from the final episode, i just didnt get it, what the fuck happened to finding melody?! what was with the question? "Doctor who?" WTF. the storyline had so much potential, but i just felt they were dragging on the whole silence thing, hopefully next series will be alittle more original, the 11th doctor isnt a bad doctor - this series was just badly written imo

i agree that this latest season wasn't as good as the previous ones. i felt really dissapointed. the episodes wheren't horrible but they just seemed so different and less interesting than the previous season.
The last 3 episodes of series 4 and the series as a whole was the best one since series 2. It was built up to have a great explosive showdown with Davros. That was the story coming togeher. I havent liked it since Matt Smith first shouted GERONIMO in the end of time. I actually cringed for the first time since the um, er, erm, er, oh yeah the tv movie with paul mcgann cos it was so American.

I laughed at this because I am a teacher and I have students who translate for their parents! Teachers are reprimanding parents for their poor raising of their child and the child is giving a totally different twist on the translation! Yes, I understand German and have watched the movie Der Untergang. However, I had to chuckle at the subtitles, because I've lived through this. As for the insult on Dr. Who, I can see that too! I wondered why they called the episode "Let's Kill Hitler" if he was only featured for like 3 minutes. The Nazi Germany setting...was...pointless. I mean seriously, it was there just to say "Oh, this is the first time we've used this setting. Moving on." It needed more Hitler and less.....antibodies. Seriously those things are like squid versions of Brainiac.

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who thinks that the show has become predictable is a liar.Some of us yes, for example,had a feeling that Amy's child could be River, (that's not predictable, that's guessing).
Now, for those that do think it's predictable, you tell me how this season is going to end.You tell me what's going to happen to Amy and Rory. You tell me who is the good man that River is going to kill?

It kind of seems like the doctor who fandom really can't agree on anything as far as what's good or bad. Talk to one fan and they love David Tennant, thought end of time was good, and found the pirate episode fun. Talk to another and they'll say both those sucked and Tom Baker is the best doctor. Some will say the daleks are the best villains, some the Master, some the weeping angels. Really the series is too old and rollercoasters too much to give up just because one twist was a let down.
I feel like a complete idiot! I'm like the only one who couldn't see the similarity between River Song and Melody Pond and was surprised when it was revealed!
Mind you though, I think Doctor Who has been great so far and I think Moffat has done well as the writer, but were somewhat lacking in the surprise department lately. But that's just Doctor Who though. It's always been predictable and obvious like that.

Yea Pompeii and Unicorn and the Wasp sucked but besides Midnight and the ones you mentioned the others were mediocre AT WORST. And a mediocre Who episode is still better than 80% of TV. I would call that a great season.
@CrapTurret94 Amen!! Midnight is one of the best episodes I've ever seen, in fact it was the first episode I ever saw of Doctor who. If it hadn't been for that episode being so great I may have never experienced the wonderful world of Doctor Who.
I have to agree with "CrapTurret", Series 4 was terrible. Journey's End was a symbol of everything that is wrong about Davies' writing, meanwhile Pandorica Opens/Big Bang was a terrific two-parter, proving (IMO) that Doctor Who works best as a dark fairytale rather than a Sci-fi "epic". It can do epic, but I think Moffat handles the cliched "end of the universe" story much better than RTD ever did *cough*The End Of Time*cough*

@tayler58 There were two "monsters" in Midnight.They were both terrifying, One was the "shadow" that possessed Sky and the more terrifying monsters were the humans who nearly killed the Doctor. The shadow was terrifying BECAUSE the Doctor didn't know what it was or how to help/defeat it. The humans were more terrifying because they made the doctor question if earth is even worth saving at all.

@KoolKid6500 well my problem with the episode was the constant dialog. i am used to have such a long boring script in one of Moffats episode. They had some good lines as Where Is My Wife and Repeat The Question? but thats it.
@mungothemurri Wouldn't River Song as an incarnation of Susan be potentially incestuous since it is very strongly implied that River Song and The Doctor have a romantic relationship? Besides the classic characters of Dr.Who were good but that doesn't mean Steven Moffat shouldn't write great new characters like River Song. I liked the plot twist and I think it adds a lot to the story (even if it was predictable).
It made me laugh, but Steven Moffatt did say we knew who she was from the start if we just knew how to look at it. It's not dead, i think it's getting better, would be even better if Rory left, and the Doctor and River got together properly :D *opinion, don't slaughter me for it*

But funny stuff, this! It got a good giggle out of me a few times. ;) And yeah, keeping in mind that the next one is 'Let's Kill Hitler'... actually makes it more funny!
What's even better is the fact that this one bit of a World War 2 movie has become such a meme that can be used with so many conversations. Some one will always find funny conversations to dubb over and insert into it.

my perdiction for future episodes...korvarian brainwashes baby/child melody (river) into thinking the doctor is evil, needs to be killed.....doctor and adult river gets married of sorts they travel together for awhile......time comes when river finally has to carry out her plan (THE IMPOSS ASTRONAUT:DAY OF THE MOON) she appears in the space suit and shoots the doctor therefore killing 'a good man'....goes to prison because she believes she derserves to be.....and u know how it goes from there

@Percitta I think that's a much earlier version of River in the spacesuit - we still know that the Doctor has yet to meet River as a little girl, I mean, once more (She mentioned it in "Day of the Moon")

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who thinks that the show has become predictable is a liar.Some of us yes, for example,had a feeling that Amy's child could be River, (that's not predictable, that's guessing).
Now, for those that do think it's predictable, you tell me how this season is going to end.You tell me what's going to happen to Amy and Rory. You tell me who is the good man that River is going to kill?

It kind of seems like the doctor who fandom really can't agree on anything as far as what's good or bad. Talk to one fan and they love David Tennant, thought end of time was good, and found the pirate episode fun. Talk to another and they'll say both those sucked and Tom Baker is the best doctor. Some will say the daleks are the best villains, some the Master, some the weeping angels. Really the series is too old and rollercoasters too much to give up just because one twist was a let down.

Mind you though, I think Doctor Who has been great so far and I think Moffat has done well as the writer, but were somewhat lacking in the surprise department lately. But that's just Doctor Who though. It's always been predictable and obvious like that.

You didn't like season four??? Fires of Pompeii/ Unicorn an the Wasp aside that was a damn good season! I mean Midnight has to be one of the best episodes ever considering what they did with such a tiny budget. It was defiantly better than season 5 Matt's speech in Pandorica opens... I wasn't at all convinced.

@CrapTurret94 Midnight? You didn't like Midnight? That was easily some of the best new who especially when you factor in what they actually spent on it. Yea Pompeii and Unicorn and the Wasp sucked but besides Midnight and the ones you mentioned the others were mediocre AT WORST. And a mediocre Who episode is still better than 80% of TV. I would call that a great season.

I have to agree with "CrapTurret", Series 4 was terrible. Journey's End was a symbol of everything that is wrong about Davies' writing, meanwhile Pandorica Opens/Big Bang was a terrific two-parter, proving (IMO) that Doctor Who works best as a dark fairytale rather than a Sci-fi "epic". It can do epic, but I think Moffat handles the cliched "end of the universe" story much better than RTD ever did *cough*The End Of Time*cough*

@tayler58 There were two "monsters" in Midnight.They were both terrifying, One was the "shadow" that possessed Sky and the more terrifying monsters were the humans who nearly killed the Doctor. The shadow was terrifying BECAUSE the Doctor didn't know what it was or how to help/defeat it. The humans were more terrifying because they made the doctor question if earth is even worth saving at all.

As for the Pandorica Opens thing... I have to disagree. I personally like Matt's speech about a creature "soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies". Haha this one was funny as meme go. Yea River Song plot twist was to obvious. I actually stopped watching the series because theres not enough funny random scenes as there were in the past. Its gotten to be to much drama and not enough adventure/sci-fi.

@mungothemurri Wouldn't River Song as an incarnation of Susan be potentially incestuous since it is very strongly implied that River Song and The Doctor have a romantic relationship? Besides the classic characters of Dr.Who were good but that doesn't mean Steven Moffat shouldn't write great new characters like River Song. I liked the plot twist and I think it adds a lot to the story (even if it was predictable).
