Gibson J45 vs Martin D18 - What's the best acoustic guitar?

Although I am a big Gibson fan, Martin takes the cake.

D18 sounds like it'd be better for bluegrass lead or folky finger picking (john prine). J45 sounds like what i'd want for strumming or blues picking (lightnin hopkins). imho

To my ears the Martin sounds way better. I guess it's all personal preference though.

Longer scale = Warmer (more bass, more harmonic, more sustain). Shorter scale = Brighter (more treble, more spark, less harmonic, less sustain)
