This all seems like it was FOREVER ago. I guess nowadays it kinda was.
You ever wonder what all those people who were so young in the video's look like now? I wonder how many of them would still put a bikini on today? I know we ALL change when we get older so I sure can't say anything :)
God, those were sure some good times back then, and everything seemed so much more simpler than today. Makes me sad thinking about how good most of us had it back then compared to today. I wish everyone well :)
I went there in 1984 during my vacation trip to Orlando. The Tiger was closed and the park was basically empty. I still have pictures from my visit. Brings back great memories. Greetings from Montréal, Québec.
My family and I did a Disney/Seaworld visit from NC in 1978 when I was 13. We threw in a visit to Circus World. Still have a picture of my brother with a little person clown. It seemed like a great park. Hate to see the oldies go by the wayside like that. The way the employees got shafted by that Monahan guy was really scummy!
I remember this place along with all it's changes including changes in ownership. And I would agree HBJ were just a bunch of crooks of the time who bought way more than they could ever handle. Thank God they're completely out of the game with any theme park ownership in the Kissimmee/Orlando area. They couldn't even run a simple Mystery Fun House if they owned one (which they never did - I'm just saying they'd screw that up too if they did).
The employees partying it up is the best part of this video... i went when it was boardwalk and baseball... i loved the place...what a shame that its gone
Was my first full time job just out of school all the way up to it's last days. Barnum, Mattel and then that crook Monahan. It was fun and a great place until that condo baron bozo took over. After him it was a disaster in the making when it was made into baseball and boardwalk.
By the way, anyone who has significant photos email me. I would like to see if I could attain some copies.
Went there as well, in '84.. all I remember is taking a ride on an elephant, seeing a circus show and going on a rollercoaster with a twist. Good times.
I have good memories of this place. My Grandfather was one of the people who helped build Circus World. I remember going there with him back in the 70s and early 80s. It was fun.
Yeah, I'll never forget the day Busch decided to close the park. I believe it was in January and around noon when the call came in to close the park IMMEDIATELY. I thought that was shame full. They should have given us atleast a month's notice so we could visit the park one more time and say good bye the proper way.
I still have photos from our time in Circus World (1981 or 82), with my sister and I getting our faces painted like clowns. The Hurricane was VERY COOL! I remember thinking that both Busch Gardens and Circus World were far cooler than Disney World. I'm glad that you posted this, because Circus World (along with Ceder Point, Busch Gardens and Bablo Island) was a great place to visit. I'm lost in nostalgia ;>)
Michael Jackson, that takes me back! I was an acrobat in the main show, and he came backstage to meet the performers. He was ok, but strange. He came back a 2nd time and was a complete jerk.
When Busch bought this park it was they who closed it. At first they planned to move the Hurricane to Busch Gardens which they should of done as it is a far better woodie than Gwazi will ever be. The ride now sits at Magic Springs, Arkansas
I went to Boardwalk and Baseball as a kid. It was a good park, but always really empty. Probably beacause it was out in the middle of nowhere. And the Florida Hurricane was a great wooden coaster. Too bad it's all gone now.
Do it right?!! Haha, Boardwalk Baseball lasted maybe 2 years. When the Kansas City Royals moved their Spring Training to Surprise, Arizona the stadium was knocked down and now all that site is, is a turnaround point bunch of dead grass and dirt.

Ironicly, the Barnum and Baily Show in LA moved in the day after his Funeral at Staples Center.
