I actually find the inconsistencies within Apple much more annoying, not sure why. I think it's because of my general distrust of anything Apple says.
I've thought about it. I think what I might do is get an aeroglazz unlock of unofficial skins. What it lets you do is use every skin file in the correct format instead of just the ones microsoft throws in there. I even have an old winxp disk to take the skin right off of. The only problem is that I'm still waiting for it to be win7 compatible.
When we got our Windows Vista Home Basic at the house here....... it was pretty cool it was faster than the XP Home Edition of my uncle's....... I preferred Vista over XP then because of the speed then and look. But now, I got for XP rather than Vista, though I wanna get Vista Home Premium for my iMac or Windows 7 when it comes out.
I noticed the things you said too, personally I went to Linux and am very glad i did, I have XP on another hard drive and I find myself in Ubuntu most of the time, I encourage people to try Ubuntu 9.04, things like messengers(I use Trillian) work with WINE. Tell me what you think :)

thats probbalybecause your computer isnt powerful enough to run it well you should change to windows 7 when it came out it uses the same requirements as vista but it is more stable and faster
hm lets see... my computer with windows vista was SLOOW and its a very powerful computer... Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 oced @ 4.27ghz Nvidia Nforce 780i SLi Nvidia Galaxy 8800GT OC(upgrading to a gtx 285) 4GB OCZ 800mhz(upin to 1066mhz 8gb) Seagate 250GB HDD Western Digital 250GB HDD (note not in raid bad idea to diff brands) Nvidia MSI 9600GT OC (for physx) 550Wat Antec Psu Zalman 92mm cpu cooler Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Music (its dieing gettin an Elite Pro) OMG vista was so slow...
Great specs there. Though it seems sometimes the overclock makes the processor seem slower. BUT Vista shouldn't be slow on THAT. But I think you might wanna be careful with having nVidia cards. I hear that nVidia drivers wreak havoc with Vista.
i used it before i oced and also it was slow at loading... the hdd would go CRAZY.... the hdd works fine in xp. the hdd sounded like it was dieing... the head was crashing against the disc. i put windows xp on the system and it works fine wtf xD never going back to vista... im going straight to windows 7. skipping over vista :)

Because the Apple maniacs are giving them the thumbs down. I guess they need to cut a person up because they don't have any real reason to cut Vista up.
whell i kinda like finding features that arent obvious but windows vista is just horable the day microsoft released vista was the day they killed their company
As a developer the underlining APIs for windows are a mess and indicate no improvement so how do you expect what is based off them to be astoundingly better. They don't improve them either. They replace them, so instead of a another cycle of development on a current code base, they just get rewritten in a different style and often are having to support the old and new spreading developer time even thiner.
No, that doesn't give the right to be biased. I have also used a Mac for an elongated period of time, however, I don't go around going "You all suck for using OS X. What's a Java? I've never even used a Java on my PC. Well I did a few years ago when I played Runescape, and I could play it on my Mac. But still.... I never use Javas.
I like small programs that just work. Example, I use vlc player because it plays any A/V file and its small and just works and doesn't screw up my computer.

My new PC came installed with Vista and a bunch of pre-installed stuff from Dell. I needed to reconfigure the drive setup, so did so, reformatted and installed Vista from scratch. Gotta be honest... I tried it out expecting to be swiftly reinstall to XP after hearing all the horror stories, but I actually like it. Once I got the UAC disabled, I have no problems with it at all. It has alot of little improvements that I find really helpful. So... to each their own I guess.
Although, he might be too mature and classy for that station now and may not want to be associated with comcast and the immature grade school boy immoral mess it's made.
G4 is adopting its classic Tech TV / G4 shows to play during early morning and afternoon. They said feedback worked and they're bringing it back. They're reruns, BUT HEY!! IT'S BETTER THAN COPS AND ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT ON THE WRONG TYPE OF STATION! (good shows, wrong station). So bombard them with emails to get Chris Pirillo back on!
Another Vista failure is it doesn't have Recovery Console. It took me 3 hours to fix a bad video driver. It wouldn't go into Safe Mode. Before in XP you could at least go in Recovery Console and fix the problem if Safe Mode didn't work. Instead your given an automated Recovery Disk that I think is powered by blind faith. I think its fair to say that Vista is a POS (Pile of Shit)
I'm talking about Recovery Console which is the tool that's located on the CD/DVD. System Restore is located on the OS itself and it's kind of flaky at times.
I have one vista computer. A family member had several programs running. when I went on the computer it froze when i used the freeware program portable apps.
ya man, trust me i know its getting quite easy these days. I have fedora 9 dual booted on my macbook. Linux is getting very easy but still not as easy as say mac os x or windows
I think 7 thumbs down just goes to show that quite a few people think you're ignorant.
Your Windows "service packs" are minor "upgrades". Apple's Mac OS X upgrades, also referred to as reference releases, such as 10.4 to 10.5, are major releases. The minor releases would be 10.5 to 10.5.1 to 10.5.2 to 10.5.3, etc. Leopard was, by no means, a minor update. There were 300+ new features in Leopard.
Dude, they all suck ass. Mac sucks, Windows suck. I'd even say that Linux sucks but so far it hasn't run me down, nor has it stopped me dead in it's track while doing something important. On Windows, I have gotten more occasions on getting fucked over when doing something important and on a Mac... There is nothing important to do on one of those (joking, but I've been fucked over on that as well).
Linux is generic. I've had a lot of hangs on Linux. We all know that Windows has it's numerous problems. Most Mac users will tell you that they don't have problems on a Mac. The same is true for myself. My applications work and work well. There's Mac applications for just about anything.
Hey, you're supporting a video where someone is rating a currently released OS's UI by A FREAKING BETA RELEASE. He is taking hear-say and trying to prove it as fact.
This video is completely opinion, and not fact in any way.
Yes, you're ignorant. First of all, even if Chris IS talking about the Longhorn beta, the Longhorn beta was better than the final release of Vista, in terms of it's UI. Neither the beta or the RTM are in any way better than Mac OS X in terms of UI.
Chris Pirillo has been around in the tech community for a long time. I would value his opinion long before yours.
You've already proved your ignorance by calling Apple's reference releases "minor". Get a clue.
You should get a clue. It sounds like you haven't even used the OS is question.
Apple's releases are minor.
For Chris to make a video based upon a Beta, when there is actually a currently released product, is completely stupid. It is rating a manufacturer on a TV model 5 years old.
You are the ignorant, or we could both be. You never know.
Meh, I agree highly on most issues, but not entirely.
Mainly with that site provided, most, if not half or more of the problems listed there are just whiny little problems, like the RegEdit.exe icon being from legacy versions of Windows.
Meh, that's why I enjoy Linux, it's easy to fix the problems yourself and is usually faster as well.
Then again, I've owned a that has had stock every Operating System released, so I am a large Macintosh fan, and I do indeed see similar inconsistencies.
I think that the UI interface on any operating system makes us give it a judgement wether it looks easy to use or how clean the desktop is? Like Mac OS X you may find that the dock is elegant and setup is not a hassle. Although there are some bad things on Mac OS X like i don't know but maybe something u guys can pinpoint out. Windows Looks hard to use, digging through settings and finding the right settings, and all that desktop is ok but i like the dock on mac os x.
I believe that it goes without saying that UI really matters. It's not about user preference. As buildings that we work in affects our life and our mood. The same way the interface of our personal computer affects it as well. Especially nowadays that we use computers more than ever before and they have literally become an integral part of our life's.
Hey Chris. I love your Youtube version of Call for help but I also miss watching your personal videos you used to post along with the Tech tv clips and outtakes. Are you going to post anything like that agan?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Get off it man. You haven't stopped whining about Windows since you bought your Mac. 45 minutes ??!! That's a short version of hell if there ever was one.
Whining? It's pretty damn easy to see that Windows is absolute shit after using a Mac for a few days. Chris is absolutely right. Windows is a poor excuse for an OS and a lot of people don't realize it until they've switched to a Mac. Linux isn't enough to make most people come to that realization, it's just too damn generic, but Mac OS X easily puts Windows to absolute, utter shame. That's just fact and every new Mac user knows it.
lol this guy's right though the look and style of a UI draws people in. Personally I vote performance over GUI but it's not a bad thing to have both right?
As soon as MAC makes an OS that is something like XP/Vista which has all the great features of playing games (which I'm not sure it can yet, maybe if you have Boot Camp and run XP or somthing like it... but the point is to not need Boot Camp)... and has the compatibility to run everything you it has like XP/want it do... it's game over for PC's.
Chris is right, I am a Windows fanboy and I admit the user interface for all Windows operating systems suck. Small things like flickers in transitions when opening windows in vista really make the user expereance really bad.
i love the classic mode on xp but i cant stand it of vista but i have grown to like the home basic interface on vista cause its what my good friend has
(5:53) you're not a power user, you're a dumbass... you're wasting your life doing nothing creative

if your for gaming and entertainment get a macbook pro and use BOOTCAMP for some games.
and use Crossover for the rest of the windows games on Mac OS 10.5
or
buy the mac versions of the games.

What's a Java? I've never even used a Java on my PC. Well I did a few years ago when I played Runescape, and I could play it on my Mac. But still.... I never use Javas.

Chris,
Totally agree with you!
Microsoft should be bending over and kissing your feet for telling them about their bugs (without any compensation for time I might ad).
Feel sorry for you being raked over the coals for it.
Ah well,
keep up the great work Chris!

I think its fair to say that Vista is a POS (Pile of Shit)
mindyourowndamnself 3 years ago
it has system restore
jedixo 3 years ago
I'm talking about Recovery Console which is the tool that's located on the CD/DVD. System Restore is located on the OS itself and it's kind of flaky at times.
mindyourowndamnself 3 years ago
frankly the UI is eye candy, it needs to be able to pull off classic view a little better.

And Apple has gotta stop releasing minor updates to OS's as a totally new OS.
And, again, Chris is very lame. You all proved it with -7 thumbs down.
OniBonklers 3 years ago
I think 7 thumbs down just goes to show that quite a few people think you're ignorant.
Your Windows "service packs" are minor "upgrades". Apple's Mac OS X upgrades, also referred to as reference releases, such as 10.4 to 10.5, are major releases. The minor releases would be 10.5 to 10.5.1 to 10.5.2 to 10.5.3, etc. Leopard was, by no means, a minor update. There were 300+ new features in Leopard.
Don't be lame.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
Dude, they all suck ass. Mac sucks, Windows suck. I'd even say that Linux sucks but so far it hasn't run me down, nor has it stopped me dead in it's track while doing something important. On Windows, I have gotten more occasions on getting fucked over when doing something important and on a Mac... There is nothing important to do on one of those (joking, but I've been fucked over on that as well).
MasterFire84 3 years ago
Linux is generic. I've had a lot of hangs on Linux. We all know that Windows has it's numerous problems. Most Mac users will tell you that they don't have problems on a Mac. The same is true for myself. My applications work and work well. There's Mac applications for just about anything.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
Me? Ignorant?
Hey, you're supporting a video where someone is rating a currently released OS's UI by A FREAKING BETA RELEASE. He is taking hear-say and trying to prove it as fact.
This video is completely opinion, and not fact in any way.
OniBonklers 3 years ago
Yes, you're ignorant. First of all, even if Chris IS talking about the Longhorn beta, the Longhorn beta was better than the final release of Vista, in terms of it's UI. Neither the beta or the RTM are in any way better than Mac OS X in terms of UI.
Chris Pirillo has been around in the tech community for a long time. I would value his opinion long before yours.
You've already proved your ignorance by calling Apple's reference releases "minor". Get a clue.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
You should get a clue. It sounds like you haven't even used the OS is question.
Apple's releases are minor.
For Chris to make a video based upon a Beta, when there is actually a currently released product, is completely stupid. It is rating a manufacturer on a TV model 5 years old.
You are the ignorant, or we could both be. You never know.
OniBonklers 3 years ago
I have and use both Mac OS X Leopard and Vista Ultimate.
No, they are not. Vista doesn't have anywhere near 300+ new features over XP.
The Longhorn beta was far better than the final RTM version of Vista. The UI went to shit from the original beta.

Chris, you aren't famous for your rants.
You are now a mearly a 13-year-old on the internet who has a live video feed and likes to rant.
OniBonklers 3 years ago

Windows Looks hard to use, digging through settings and finding the right settings, and all that desktop is ok but i like the dock on mac os x.
gchhour 3 years ago

I believe that it goes without saying that UI really matters. It's not about user preference. As buildings that we work in affects our life and our mood. The same way the interface of our personal computer affects it as well. Especially nowadays that we use computers more than ever before and they have literally become an integral part of our life's.

elmiraviking 3 years ago

As soon as MAC makes an OS that is something like XP/Vista which has all the great features of playing games (which I'm not sure it can yet, maybe if you have Boot Camp and run XP or somthing like it... but the point is to not need Boot Camp)... and has the compatibility to run everything you it has like XP/want it do... it's game over for PC's.
blowers1986 3 years ago
Its called Mac OS X. It is perfectly cpable of playing games, just neither Apple nor develeopers have put much effort into gaming on the Mac.
adamfishercox 3 years ago
With a Mac, you don't need games, you have as much fun just playing with the aps that you have built in or download!

Chris is right, I am a Windows fanboy and I admit the user interface for all Windows operating systems suck. Small things like flickers in transitions when opening windows in vista really make the user expereance really bad.
