did you get rid of the 'classic' light sensor once you rigged the Wiimote sensor directly? I'm not sure what your galvo scanner speed is, but if you time it right, the two should not interfere with each other (causing flickering in your blob tracking).

What is really amazing, is that this sensor can track up to 4 blobs and that at an astonishing rate up to 1600 tracks/ second.
I've previously seen this sensor in action in the German computer club2 show (cczwei.de). There they used their own ATmega board for various projects.
