The book presents itself as the work of a prophet named Daniel who lived during the 6th century BC. Modern critical biblical scholarship dates the Book of Daniel to the 2nd century BCE.
There is general agreement among scholars that Daniel's revelations are actually “vaticinium ex eventu” or prophecies after the event and the traditionalist view which dates it to the 6th century has been rejected by the scholarly community since the end of the 19th century.
Latin term: Vaticinium Ex Eventu, or foretelling after the event.
One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind:
You are stuck to the form and miss the substance. I don't think the fact the disciples followed the rules of the Sabbath one day after Jesus' was crucified much of an arguement. In matters of 'food or drink' they likewise needed further educated on the freedom now given.
Colossians. In Chapter 2 we read "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day: things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ."
Any church that centers more attention onto the shadow of what is to come than the loving saving gospel of Jesus is misguided. All you seem to be saying is we're right and the rest of them are wrong. Show us by your love. That's biblical.
@Paahau Colossians is taken out of context. Paul was writing this to believers who were turning from their pagan ways (eating unclean foods, Xmas, Easter, Sun-day Sabbath) and started celebrating the feast days, keep the real Sabbath, and keeping a clean diet). Please stop using this verse incorrectly.
@momelock What do you mean 'celebrating the feast days'? Are you speaking of the Jewish feast days? That Paul is saying maintain the same traditions as the Jews, and you must have Saturday your day of worship like the Jews?! That must be in there in real small print only you and your church buddies could read or else you are really doing spin job with this verse. Paul's msg was just the opposite. The shadows or the substance, you choose.
@Paahau There is no such thing as "Jewish feast days" read Lev... they are called "Feasts of the Lord". Calling them "Jewish" was a way to lessen the importance of them and eventually discard them. These very special and PROPHETIC days were created and ordained by the CREATOR HIMSELF and he told HIS PEOPLE to do them for all generations. Are you "His people"? See you at Sukkott!!!
@Paahau Maybe you haven't been reading your bible close enough. Can you find just one line of scripture that says the Sabbath and the feast days are "Jewish"? Go back and read WHO was there went the commands was given. Was it really the Jews? The title, "Jew" wasn't even known at that time. A Jew only means the tribe of JUDAH. Try ALL 12 TRIBES plus those who fled Egypt, the stranger and sojourner...sounds like more than just Jews...more like EVERYONE. They are feasts OF YAHWEH.
@momelock Pt. 1 Paul battled the Jewish Christians who were wanting to lay on the new Christians O.T. burdens : Colossians. In Chapter 2 we read "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day: things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." you're twist this to say Paul wants them to eat kosher, and observe Jewish festivals.
@Paahau You have misquoted. The correct quote is "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holiday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days" The reference was to the ceremonial sabbaths not the Sabbath day.Mary and the other women waited till the Sabbath was through befoe going to look for Christ; Luke 23:56. Had the Sabbath been abolished why would Christs closests followers still observe it?
@momelock Pt. 2: do you see the difference between the shadow and the substance? Does it matter, or would you rather follow the traditions of your fathers? So go ahead, eat kosher, call shellfish and pork unclean, though Peter was straightened out on this quite directly. Worship on Saturday, and imagine your little group is special & the rest of the Christians have missed it. Really, down deep who cares? It's just the little man, the old man, the flesh, ego, sin nature, working it's magic.
@Paahau If you don't want to learn that's OK. You will be held responsible for rejecting the truth. I'm getting weary of arguing with Christians who don't want to walk in obedience. Traditions are man made laws. If you want to call Yahweh's COMMANDS man made laws, that's your head, not mine. I will have reverence for my Creator and keep his commands out of love for Him. His Spirit led me to do it, so don't persecute me for listening to Him.
@momelock You've been brought up or introduced at a crucial time into this system of belief so go with it. I know some 7th day people and they are a people of faith, w/added beliefs. Jesus gave two commandments: if your diet laws, and observance of days doesn't help you love your neighbor as yourself/your god w/all your mind heart and soul, what good are they? If they set up a barrier between you and other believers they are a hinderance. What do you think?
@Paahau I am not a seventh day Adventist. 1 John 2:4 : The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. I keep His commands BECAUSE I love Him (John 14:15). They are not burdensome. The Church has been receiving a very diluted gospel and is in danger. We have been too lackadaisical in our teachings and it has caused great harm to the Body. The 2 commands talk of ALL 10 and those speak of the rest. Jesus caused division.
Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Acts 20:7
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
The bible said they met on the first day of the week, not change sabbath
Truth is truth and will always be truth and nothing but truth. If you are sincere and want to know truth you will find truth and the truth will set you free. God bless you in your search for truth.
Ps.118:21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. 23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. [What is the day? It is the period of time we are now in because of Christ. It is not day 7 God changed the sabbath to" the Stone."]
Ps 89:26-36 Is the covenant of the Messiah. God is saying He will not break his promise to send the Rock of Salvation who will set upon the throne of David. It is mislead, no it is a lie to say this is the 10c's that God is promising not to break.
Don't worry, ALLLLL those who love Jesus will be running to the SDA church soon because it will be the only safe haven where they won't be beaten for loving the Lord. The others are lukewarm and will fall off dancing in church with their churchy/secular recording entertainers!
I agree that no church can save us; we are only justified by the grace of Jesus.
However, it also makes sense that one would seek a church that teaches the truth of what the Bible actually teaches. As such, if one finds themselves in a congregation where lies are preached then remaining there without trying to reprove them gives the appearance of acceptance and support.
TRASHING the 4th commandment/Sabbath (MEMORIAL OF CREATION) is about the most obvious religious con job/deception on EARTH. Just compare how 99% of the church use ACTS 20:7 and never teach about ACTS 13:42-44, 16:13, 17:2 and 18:4. The usual text used is Col 2:16,17 and by many who don't have a clue what they are talking about. If PAUL trashed the sabbath, why didn't he warn all of those gentiles in ACTS to stop hanging around the Jews and come worship with him on the SUNday/Lord's day
Cd brooks was heard on my old adio tapes when i was 13ys old i dont mind saying i am now 39 i have found no falt in his preachings God has raised up a great man.
