  • this was gorgeous! that voice back in the day was like none other and tom jones can sing too he is no joke!

  • How do you mean, this type of stuff? This is not a popsong, but a very beautiful jazzballad and as you might know Aretha used to sing a lot of jazz in (the beginning of) her career! By the way does anybody know if this duet is somewhere on a cd or lp?

  • No other word for Aretha that was so pretty to hear.

  • Lovely..

  • She can sing anything, Three Blind Mice. Anything...

  • HER VOICE IS STILL STRONG TO THIS DAY.sigers like her are rare. Anyone see her sing Ave Maria when Pavrotti was unable to do it. She is absolutely AMAZING.

  • Yeah thats true she always liked the Streisand type of material and she loved Judy Garland - Interesting huh?

  • yeah I love what she said about Judy Garland, she actually said she considered Judy Garland to be a true soul singer actually, because she sang from the heart.

  • uh okay thanx 4 the insight and I will

  • This was a one of a kind duet and I don't see why the party is over,if anything it just begain.

  • Aretha never intended to be the Queen of SOUL! She actually felt more comfortable singing this kind of stuff. Her voice was angelic!

  • What makes you so sure this was a particular liking of music by her?

  • I'm not sure if she was necessarily more comfortable. However, I do not doubt that she was attracted to this type of music. Either way, it is not like this song is very far from soul. You can still identify jazzy and gospel qualities in this song. But yes...Her voice sound absolutley angelic.

  • Surely God must have been smiling after hearing this duet, Awesome, still no one does it like Aretha!

  • What an incredible duet! Yes...God was surely smiling and proud of one of his many unique creations!

  • Tom Jones has such a powerful and pure voice but Aretha what can I say to explain the beauty and pain in it. She's the Queen of Soul!!!

  • Aretha voice is like a whip and it does make you soar. A total eargasm.

  • There is a difference between doing millions of one-niters on the gospel circuit in racist America and working in the coal mines of Wales - learning soul singing listening to soul records. The contrast is glaring here, everytime Aretha Franklin opens her mouth to sing. Tom is a wonderful singer, but he's stepping WAY up in class next to The Queen.

  • There is a difference when you've done millions of one niters on the gospel circuit in racist America and a guy who learned "soul singing" from records. The contrast is glaring everytime Aretha opens her mouth to sing in this duet. Tom may have had a hard life in the coal mines of Wales, but Aretha's "history" is more dramatic and profound. Tom, mistakenly felt that he was the "white Aretha" trapped in a man's body.

  • Speaking of being "mistaken", OliverPenn1, Tom didn't have "a hard life in the coal mines of Wales". It was his father who was a miner, not Tom. Need to check your "history".

  • 2 STRONG voices.......ahhhhh

  • Two of the great voices of that area of time - They don't make um' like that these days - .....

  • oh... god was just showin off when he created that voice.

  • She sounds oh so...youthful ! ! ! The prime of our youth is to be treasured !
