I bet if the question was posed to christian, he would have quoted some passage from the bible and said that the only religion acceptable to god was one of having no other god before him (yahweh). If the question was posed to a Hindu, he would say Krishna said that all prayers are only for him. Something that is right to you may it not be considered right for him/her. So, we all need a guideline on how to behave.
