If you've ever wondered why U2 never did one of those Unplugged shows, it's basically because they aren't very good musicians. Strip away all the special effects, the stage show, and have them play accoustically, you'd be shocked at how limited they are. @fnj006 The generally use the same 4 chord progressions everyone uses. So what they're compsing isn't really more memorable than anything Black Flag could do. Same chords. But U2's mellower approach is more "approachable", I suppose that's why they're more popular. And no, it's absurd that Bono is constantly named one of the best male vocalists ever. He has a good studio voice and great charisma, but he's not great live. I've seen them twice.

Yes, U2 is more initially approachable for most than Black Flag, but people stay for the talent. Did you see them live when Bono was in his 20's or 30's? He sounded exactly like their recordings.

If you've ever wondered why U2 never did one of those Unplugged shows, it's basically because they aren't very good musicians. Strip away all the special effects, the stage show, and have them play accoustically, you'd be shocked at how limited they are.
