  • Wah 11th mono... i'm from 10th mono.. best combat unit... hee

  • @ridelia56 ... Because of your mono... we 11th mono suffer like shit...

  • @ridelia56 ...im also from 10th mono....

  • 5th mono seletar camp ^_^

  • Haha i was part of this intake. Man i miss those days, btw i was one of the worst recruits ever! HAHA !! I got nothing but respect for Mr.Toh Lee Hwa.

  • atleast NS is a million times better than going to prison. where you have shit food and stay in the cell until you are released

  • any 5th mono intake?

  • Also, for the new recruits who are joining Guards unit and am not sure what Guards do. You can go watch two movies - Saving Private Ryan and We Were Soldiers.

  • 7th Mono 1st Guard Charlie Company. That year we nearly won the Best Combact Unit, having scored the highest recon status in SAF's first ever overseas ATEC. Unfortunately, the powers higher up dictate that the Commandoes should win and we end up with the Best Infantry Unit. During Reservist time, we became 583 Guards and maintained our standard. In the end, we won the Best NS Infantry Unit. Proud to be a Guardsman! Ready To Strike!

  • I'm from 11Mono Charlie Coy! BMT batch. Didn't know there was such a video! But i wasn't in it cos i was BMT-batch leh. These were the PTP batch guys. Mono-intake usually only ITE students but that batch had 1 regular (diploma holder) in each section. How i know? I was one of them. "Spanner man" as SSG Toh Lee Hwa used to say. I rmbr he will always say things nicely at 1st then at the very end shout "MOVE *&*$^%^$%^$" Scare the shit out of ppl. Nice memories!

  • @Clhh12 which platoon you from? and "Spanner man"...? The "MOVE..." part is really something etched into the mind... LOL

  • 2years is a waste of time, total craps.. :M

  • To the person who made this video, at 2.05, which floor is this on???

2nd floor??? if it is, then it used to my bed we are looking at. Lots of rats during my time

  • @kingsblendstrain bro, that is the 3rd floor bunk next to toilet on the right side of the block. Rats were terminated 1-2 mono b4 us... was told they were running round in the air con ducts at night.

  • We must fight for singapore and protect Singapore! Singapore is where we belong.

  • hello to you singapora

  • look like dippee barrack

  • finally ord lo! 1gds whats the moral of story?

  • okie, i heard from my sgts tat, if you got anything ( parents related to malaysia or something like tat) most likely you wun be in armour. tats y armour mostly indians and chinese and malays are infantry. i was in armour and i heard this. I AM NOT RACIST!!!!

  • that is so true xReccAxKakashIx . we malays will definitely run over to the north should war breaks out with malaysia and put our lives at their commanders disposal.

  • helo freind you like that

  • 14th mono intake 3 guards 'C' Coy too ! lol !

  • 14th MONO still at 3GDS SP COY! MORTAR PLATOON!

  • 14th Mono 3 Guards Charlie ! :)

  • I was enlisted on 12th June 2009, 14th Mono Intake into Bedok Camp 2 3rd Battalion Singapore 3rd Guards, Alpha Company, Section 1, PTP Batch. Some time during July 9th prior to BMT Phase, I was told to switch to Support Company, Section 5. At the present, my Buddies already POP, and now undergoing GAIT, while I'm being POSTED-OUT to Service Side, aka. 3rd Transport Battalion at Ayer Rajah and Glouchester Camp. Mind you that I had undergone alot of HARDSHIPS during these past 3 months.

  • Haha I'm from 11th mono, whereas I'm the opposite of you. From Support to Alpha, I'm from Section 3.... (^.^) time files... now 14th liao.

  • Wow, that's great, so that means you've already ORDeed quite some years back, lol. Anyway, what PES Status are you ? And yah, though I've been posted out, I still know that the Commanding Officer for 3rd Guards is none other than Lieutenant-Colonel Mohd Fahmi Bin Aliman. And the Officer-Commanding for Alpha Coy is Captain Owen. He succeed Captain Francis Tan on the Morning of 5th September, just after the final 24KM Route March!!!!!...lol

  • mono intake is for ite students i heard? hard to become guards?

  • Excuse me but mono intake means, the entire intake is the same from the start to the end. Only 1 batch of troopers. Commanders and Corporals come later. Please ask if you don't understand, don't anyhow just say ITE students. I don't know about the rest, but I feel offended. I am from ITE AMK. I'm frm 10 mono 1 SIR. Now, I am working and posted in Supreme Court. I agree some ITE students can't make it but that doesn't mean all. Think about your words before you post.

  • erm, sorry if i've offended u in any way because i heard from my friend that most ite students go mono-intake no tekong hence that inference...but i've gather more information abt army now,so sorry for offending u,and for ur info im also ITE student, currently studying in college east. i did think at that time..with the little amount of info i had, sorry again

  • All right, war's over. There's a scheme for ITE students in the Army, if you're interested, you can find out more. Sometimes, I wished I had taken my OC's advise and signed on. OKay, not everyone enjoys the Army but then again. It might be torturing at times but think about it, do we want ppl from other countries to learn what our military has? We may be in a small land but regardless of the politics, we should defend our land. We've already served and well, take it as a holiday during ICT lor.

  • well maybe im one of the few that has been brain-washed by the govt ahah i always look up to soldiers and will be one in few months to come...i've already went for the interview and etc just that vocation wise im still screwed..thanks for ur advice anw. btw whats ICT ar? sth like reservist?

  • ICT = In Campt Training and yes, it's reservist all right, some hate, some loves it. I don't really love or hate it. As long as anyone just do what they need to do, things would be easier and well, everyone can be happy. I can't say must for the rest who have to do the 'real' physical training. I'm one of the many company clerks in the unit. And of course, no matter what everyone says, this sentence, everyone agrees with. 'It's not worth it to get yourself injured while in NS. I learned it hard.

  • go for the home team, the pay is way more then army.

  • are the malays allowed in Armour?

  • I think so and don't worry, it's all about personal performance when being selected for certain jobs in the Army, if you're good, you're good. This is not US of bloody A. We are too small an island to fight over ourselves. Let us show the world how misguided they are about Singapore.

  • so you're saying MINDEF doesn't have this policy of keeping the Malays out of these so called 'sensitive units'? like the Airforce,Armour,Navy etc.

  • I don't speak for MINDEF and I'm not a spokesperson for them. I'm not sure if Armour is considered 'sensitive'. Airforce and Navy, some chinese can't make it either. Should keep that mindset out of it. I don't mean to offend you so I'm saying sorry if I have. What I'm saying is that since all of us are serving, all should be given the equal chance of serving in Units thought to be in the higher ups. No matter the race, religion and believe. Singapore belongs to all of us.

  • i don't think i mentioned anything about you being their spokesman.

equal chance you say? don't see that happen frequently in the SAF. after years of noticing Malays being discriminated,in many sectors,SAF especially,i don't think Singapore belongs to 'all of us'. it belongs to you chinese more like.

  • Excuse me Sir Rockerheads, as it pleases you, your Honour. It your mindset that tells you that. If we just strive hard enough, there's nothing impossible. So what if we're Chinese. We have more of us, that's all. Yes, I believe in equal chance. If the SAF can't change their mindset, one of these days, we'll change them instead. Maybe you don't know it but there are many high flying Malays/Muslims in the entire world. I believe there are more we can do, and you can do better.

  • If we just strive hard enough, there's nothing impossible.

the non-existence of malays in the RSAF and the RSN tells me otherwise.

  • OKay, let's just say... It's a F***ed up system. Gov scared of everything. Maybe they are hiding something ot what, but WTF, we can't do anything until we try, strive for what we want and when we get it, we prove it. OKay, RSAF and RSN and whatever the F*** sensitive unit it is, if we can't join 'sensitive' unit in Army, we join 'sensitive' companies in civilian world lor. Companyies won't reject anyone bcus they want to earn money with us low class workers. China oso got idiots too...

  • You have to try it, or you'll never know the outcome. These days, who ever is the best, must beat the rest. You can always fight it, try the system and when you succeed, you know you've already prove the point and you've hit your target, straight on. No matter what the rest of the bloody racist world thinks, we're all human and some of the greats, may not be as great as they think they are.

  • @killerprince not really for ite students lah..but most of the guys are somewhere there lor. think about it. dip or a level, they got higher chance of getting specs and officer rank mah, coz they are the brains to lead... watever!

  • @killerprince hard to become Guards? i dunno leh... i was chosen, not that i wanted to, but after all the shit we went through together and all the training... i still feel proud to say i was a Guardsmen. We used to like getting into fights with commandoes. We elite they also elite, so must fight mah!

  • @killerprince i want to go police or scdf but they mostly take in ite students.. its unfair :x i heard saf more torturous

  • @corleone1820 so u just wanan relax relax for 2years? that 2 is for pussy ok? be glad you get to go into saf...try out machinegun and etc...not just a revolver=.=

  • 2:31 ssgt toh lee hwa....used to shout....MOVE....!!!!!!!! hahaha...remember those days...thanks for posting...

  • @raiyashiro Toh Lee Hwa doesn't shout move leh... he goes something like a murmur then whisper then MOVE!!! YOU F**KING CHEE B*E!!!

  • 1 q...why nid to shave hair?

  • seriously...i don't know and i can't really give a defintitive answer...but perhaps maybe to make everyone look the same, as in uniform looking and also it is more cooling and thus not so easy to get heat injuries. And maybe also because it sort of symbolizes a new start and a new life?

  • @gbvjdrugdmi Shaving of hair is firstly for hygiene purpose. Long hair is hard to keep clean for a 7 day field camp. Secondly the symbolic meaning of shaving of hair for everyone is to show that everyone is equal and the start of a new beginning. Lastly is just to tell you that your freedom is gone along with your hair. LOL.

  • @gbvjdrugdmi its to make everyone the same because you are a team now..no individualism

  • i always think that the hardest part of NS is shaving hair for some reason.

  • lol when u going in ns ? i going next year wah lao damn malu u know see each other dick lol somemore new uniform

  • lol when u go in, the only thing u be worries bout is ur sergeant. hahaha

  • Worry about your sgt, your ps, your pc, your oc, your co, your S1, S2, S3, S4... Worry about your leave, your off, your extras... Ehehehe. But seriously. Just take it day by day, don't view it in a negative light, it'll be fun as hell. Xiong, but fun as hell.

  • i always think that the hardest part of NS is shaving hair for som reason。

  • been there, done that..ORDed Jul08..

somehow, i miss my carefree army life..

  • 1 guard?? I used to be there 12 yearsago, enlisted on 1996 dec.

Glad to see new rec coming in and out. How tie passed!

    Pls cherished those memories.

  • NS training is an ideological indroctrination course, established by Singapore's ruling Elite to make sure everyone falls in line. This practice has enabled them to turn human beings into machines. Those who are in power for so long have turned Singapore from a free democratic state into an autocratic militaristic state. Let the people decide what's best for them, not your Drill Instructors at NS camps.

  • Hey hey 1 guards 11th mono charlie coy

    i recognise u all

  • NSF life is so relax man. don worry too much abt it. It all technology nowadays with all the crap abt 3G army. Chiong to be at least a spec and ur life will be tt much easier.

  • How true is it? Even before NS, it has left a bad impression on me.

  • 302 = declare that you are a homosexual

Trust me I used to be a medic ..its permanently on ur record and u've got to swear in army court in front of ur parents ...not funny ...

  • the NS barber is definitely not a friend of ours :P

  • 2 things good about NS...

1.You get freebies from the bag.(1.14)

2.You get paid to become a soldier

  • you grow dumber too, less you're a clerk

  • wow shut the fuck up aussie idiots

  • I'm a coy clerk and I have to say, I agree with you. I feel like a dumb in there... Yes Sir, No Sir, 3 bags full SIR!!! When you're there long enough, you'll know your battalion is in for the deepest shit pit, when the cookhouse starts to serve 'real' food...

  • Every Singapore man to be has to go through it. Be strong.

  • I am nervous for NS thought I am still 15.

  • Does girls too have to cut botak og GI when elisting?

  • 11th Mono 1st battalion? Which year one?

Me 11th Mono but 3rd battalion.

Wanna know what's guardsmen like? Simple, Infantry = Guards. Remember be it Infantry or Guards still = SIONG.

  • Hey whats the title of the 2nd song you used in your clip?

  • it was from the soundtrack of Forrest Gump.

i cut it short. think the title is "Piano Suite"

  • how the hell did lucasfilm become a production in ur vid? lol

  • i got memories and a bunch of good friends..

  • wat u get at the end of ur 2 years?

    nothing!! ORD OH!!!!!!!

  • After 2 years? You no longer become an ignorant youth. You understand and have a better look about life. You learned how to be responsible with your disciplinary training. You are a better man. See positive and you'll know that your 2 years are not in vain.

  • yeah!!! GUARDSMAN RULZZZZZ!!!! 2 thums up for GundamSDestiny!!!! i still remember we guardsman had fight with police force back in 1998 national stadium....shiok man!!!

  • what is it like being a guardsman?

  • actually it all comes down to who you are with and not what unit you are from... :)for me,i made some good friends here an we are still in contact. those times are hard to forget cause they only happen once in a life time.

  • But it would have been nice of them to let you know the enjoyed it. Anyway I really enjoyed it. What is your voccation by the way? My brother is a Third Seargent From the Scouts. He'll be going to Brunei in a few weeks time.

  • Me ar...OC Runner Rifle Company. The idiot that carries the heaviest field pack in my company that is. Because my OC wanted to train my endurance so my field pack was heaviest, besides the 84's.

  • hi, im planning on signing on commandos...i heard that guards often train with commandos.

    Is their training more tough?

  • As to whether guards and commandos train together i do not know but the training for guards and commando is the same except guards does not have parachuting where as commandos have and guards are better train at survying the enemy terrotory first be4 asking the troops to move in so actually guards is a much more dangerous unit cause they are the spearhead of the army... well so now it is up to u which unit to choose and btw every unit in the army is tough it is just how u look at it...

  • "which unit you want to choose" can choose one meh?

  • There's a big difference between Commandos and Guards. If you want to sign on, sign Commandos. Not only you get more pay, you don't have to wear sandbags on your head. I was a former regular with Commandos back in the early 90s. Guards don't train often with Commandos. Who told you that?

  • Thanks vicsnoopy for posting this. I'm suprise that there are no coments here.

  • hey no problem man...i don't really need ppl to comment..juz hope they enjoy the vids and hope it brings back some nice memories...!! :)

  • Our journey began here...
