  • Yeah, our honeymoon videos are working there way up to that dreadful day... We got evacuated on June 3rd. I've got a great deal of on the ground footage. We were staying at Jaguar Reef in Hopkins.

  • oh my im so sorry to hear that that happened to you on your honeymoon

    blessings to you both...

  • Thank you. At the time it was one of the scariest things I'd ever gone through I probably (I hope) will I'll never go through anything quite like that again. It was quite an exhilarating experience to say the least.

Hope you and yours are all safe...

  • Are you all okay over there?

  • I am from Belize as well and whenever a hurricane affects my country the place where i live never gets flooded. I am glad I reside in Cayo District. Normally its Corozal, Belize City , Stann Creek and Toledo that gets affected mostly by the hurricanes and the tropical storms. I watched how the day looked very ugly as Hurricane Dean was approaching my poor country last year. Looked like it would have been a tornado but we dont get no tornados in Belize.

  • looks similar to New Orleans several years ago.

  • Hahaha, yea, minus the N.O.P.D. police cars found abandoned in Dallas and other places in Texas, the freaking cowards.

I always figured that the best chance of recognizing when a US national emergency is eminent is when you see cop cars full furniture and family members racing out of town for high ground, beating the rush.

  • =( *hugs*

  • That is very very sad...

    Wendy

  • Sad ..... very sad !

  • Hurricane/Tropical Storm ARTHUR - 1st major tropical storm of the season..

  • Oh man... I didn't know about this... I'm so sorry... I hope you and your family and friends made it through. Let me know if there is something I can do. I am thinking of you.

  • Wow, Angela! I feel so bad for the people there. I'm glad to hear you are safe, though. Is the govt responding quickly to the situation?

    Tom

  • OMG girl! This is horrible! It is so scary when storms hit so suddenly! Im hoping you and your loved ones are safe my lady! Thank you for showing us! Please keep us updated! LOVE YOU MUCH! Diane:)

  • For some reason I'm not hearing too much about this via mainstream media... I admit that that may be due to the fact that I don't pay any attention to mainstream media.

    What caused the flooding? Rains?

    Stay safe, you.

  • mainstream media never covers the severity of events in central America... well not that im aware of anyway..

  • Quite so.... they never cover anything that won't further thier ends.

Anyway, be well, be safe and stay centered.

  • from where was that bridge destroyed? Amandala newspaper says Southern Highway. Is it from Stann Creek? I am looking at the Amandala newspaper that came out today

  • im not too sure, i think its the one that seperates Placencia

  • horrible.

My prayers are with you and all.

  • Wow, amazing and terrifying footage Proshka. This hasn't hit the news in Australia, so it's always good to see this from the point of view of people that are there. My heart goes out to the people affected.

A friend of mine is currently sitting on the Thai/Burma border while the Myanmar government blocks her NGO from helping the people. Maybe she'd be more appreciated in Belize.

Can you put info in the panel as to how you are doing? Clearly a lot of people are concerned.

  • Yes thanks you - My country could use as mush support as possible, for some reason, im assuming bc we are a small third world country, ppl do not get enough info on us, But YT is a great source of distributing info. I luckily live in the North, if you noticed the bridge that washed away the Noth and South, but it was the South that really got it bad and has the crazy Flash Floods.

    Blessings

  • Thanks for the update on your own situation - good to hear you're personally OK.

Yeah, I found out about the earthquake in Iceland through a friend's Twitter feed. Makes me wonder if all this isn't the future of news. Makes it a lot more relevant when you have friends on the ground in these countries. Sometimes I think news services have just given up.

  • and I live in the west. lol

Cayo District only gets the rain but the other parts of Belize gets the worst part of it... I am glad we are safe for now

  • You all are in my prayers...please keep in touch and let us know you are doing okay!

    Take Care

  • Yeah i remember this one its happening all over the world and how you make sure it wonty happen again you cant its linked to the end time its pretty odvious that when planet X gets here life will change the governing rulers are already preparing to leave the planet andlive in the space station with there perfect new race and come back when we the people who payed for them to run and survive it have gone to world catastrophy so thats nice3 is,nt how how lucky we are

  • it looks as bad as katrina did, maybe worse.

    bless you and everyone there.....Patrick

  • Hope everything is ok with you Proshka

  • OMG Proshka.. I hope all your family are ok.

  • yes thanks, i live in the North, it is my ppl in the South that were severely affected.

  • Keep all the people of the Caribean in your thoughts. This is, unfortunately, not going to be the end of it. The forecast is for an especially severe hurricane season. La Nina seems to be running again. All the old forecasting models are becoming less reliable. I do hope people are pulling together. It may be crucial, now more than ever.

  • Agreed NWM, thanks for the support!

    Bless

  • My heart goea out to all affected by this terrible natural disater. What is most disturbing is that there was no warning.

  • yes it was a freak of nature, so to speak - no one anticipated this!
