  • @FletcherHabit I agree. Durianriders is an asshole. He is so sugared out that he has to pee 3-4 times a night cause high sugar fruit is so dehydrating to the body that the body must pee out excess sugars with the urine.

  • @HrapovikPlush Durian Rider is claiming that Clement originally agreed to debate him about this issue, but then pulled out. It wasn't exactly this simple... Harley made it next to impossible for Clement administratively, and insisted that Steve Prussack moderate the debate for two reasons: a) Prussak doesn't broadcast debates freely but charges for transcripts/MP3s/live streaming so Harley could make money, b) Prussack is completely biased on this issue, in Harley's favour.

  • @Deffine he's oviously talking about on average, not specifically bananas. It's well known that they are constantly modifying fruit to increase sugar levels and therefore sales.

  • @dowhatuwill I wish they were breeding bananas to have the highest sugar content possible! Then they would taste super amazing. But they're breeding them for portability, not taste. If fruit today has 20-24 items more sugar than before then monkeys would stave to death from lack of calories, and the fruit would taste like a vegetable.

  • @Lakkhesis1976 Oh? I've seen wild sweet fruit all the time in nature. Dates are a great example, they grow all over the place in tropical areas. Israeli's have eaten dates for thousands of years as a staple... and they originally found them in the wild as sweet as they are today.

  • @Gary1111001 I am sorry but I dont want to chew on fruit all day. If I take some sprouted grains with olive oil It gets me running for 4 hours. If I eat fruit It keeps me running for 1 hour. Well, the decision is fast made.

    #1 oil is an iniffecient source of fuel

    #2 A lot of runners run BEFORE eating, so it's not the latest meal that fuels them; it's stored carbs in the muscle.

    #3 For people that feel like a nap after grain, and would rather "eat fruit all day!" -

    check out "TheFruitarian". He finished the Boston marathon in 2:28, and finished 6th in the Vermont 100-mile.

    Carbs are easily converted into glucose the body uses for energy. It's harder for the body to convert fat.

    Fat also takes a lot of energy to digest; it's better to let the body use the stored fat.

    And it's better to use the stored carbs and not rely on your last meal. The body will better store carbs if carbs are eaten within 30 minutes of a workout.

  • @Inflamsx Carbs are more efficient than fat. If you want to exercise with any intensity then carbs are the only energy source worth mentioning. Yes you can go all day on fat at a snail's pace, so what? Why do marathon runners refuel carbs midrace? So they don't have to hit the wall (ie run out of carbs and burn fat stores)

  • @runningman97 well ,you only hit the wall if you are sugar burner,if you are fat burner there is no wall.

  • @doddsalfa that's an illusion because effectively you hit the wall before you've started. I'm not saying you can't get more efficient at burning fat but it's never preferable to glucose/fructose. What's the fastest marathon run by someone in ketosis? If anyone even knows.

    Also Michael Arnstein is a fruitarian who never hits the wall in a marathon and doesn't have to refuel. He's run 2:28 and improving at the age of 33, and in perfect health. It seems glycogen stores can be made more efficient.

  • Brian is right, but this is common knowledge here in France. Fruits are valuable for their fibre, acids, and nutrients, NOT for their sugar. Low sugar fruits are the best, apple, berries, etc.

  • This is absolute nonsense. Fruit is our number one food, it grows for us to eat, every cell in the human body runs on sugars. He does not look particularly healthy for a raw foodist., and he has no real energy about him. I would not take his advice.

  • My partner resists any sorts of change to this kind of living, she is too hooked on meats and 'normal diet' It is difficult as I get sucked back into eating like that.. peer pressure, It can be a lonely path when others think your a nut case.. But to me it makes perfect sense and Im annoyed that in the west of Scotland, no one caters for healthy food like this.. its unheard of.. we fry haggis with chips and our national drink is IRN BRU which is an utter disaster for health..

  • Everyone agrees there is a big big problem with non-organic hybridized fruit. Beyond that ONE PERSON'S PANACEA IS ANOTHER PERSON'S POISON (as David Wolfe says). The OPTIMUM HEALTH INSTITUTE deals with SICK people or WEAKENED people and what they say can only apply to these. Furthermore, WHO in civilization is truly healthy these days? Why not make sweet fruits 50% of the DIET if it DOES make you feel good. Sorry Mr. Clement, I only half-way agree with you!

  • My diet is 100% raw. I eat low protein even though I'm 2 meters tall. I eat medium amounts of fruit and IMMENSE amounts of truly raw fats. I have an enormous physique. My diet is mostly organic packed with super foods. I eat more than 5% fruit, perhaps 5-20%.
