Wow.! Thats actually happened to me when i was younger. Not because the "post was dull" (wtf) but because the gun wasnt loaded right. And ever since i have done my own with a needle. Guns should not really be used at all, espically on noses, because it can shatter your bone. But your friend was brave for doing it even though he was afraid (:

Its best to go to a tattoo/piercing shop and get any piercing including ear lobe, a piercing gun rips your cartilage or tissue and most places don't clean their piercing guns and can lead to horrible infections. In tattoo/piercing shops, they use hollow needles so it goes straight threw and DON'T get stuck.

You're supposed to use needles, guns are unhygienic and can't be properly sterilised and they use the same one for every customer, as well as you're puncturing a hole through the flesh with a blunt piece of cheap metal (metal isn't even supposed to be used for initial jewellery). If you've been to "professionals" and they used a gun, they aren't professional, find a new piercer. Just saying.

I wouldn't recommend going to that piercer again tbh :/ I got my nipple and tongue pierced in one session yesterday, both with needles, Both would fuck up if I'd had a gun used (thank fully, they don't offer the option of guns). But serious, google the problems faced with piercing guns and look at the photos, it's vile :|

It is not a healthy piercing. @Permafade Actually, it's as sharp as a regular needle, sweetie. It's impossible to push a DULL post through your ear without massive force. Learn your facts. And it's the same as a needle, correct me if I am wrong but they BOTH go through your ear properly. One is just a gun, that makes it faster and easier, other is just a needle with I DO admit is a better choice to pierce your ear with. No need to fight because there isn't a right or wrong choice, it's the choice you choose for yourself.

The piercing was not messed up all she had to do was take the plastic piece off of the back. Piercing guns are perfectly fine for earlobes, I would not suggest using them for any part of the cartilage because they can shatter it if not done right. I pierce ears as a part of my job, the lady at Wal Mart must be newer because that is one of the flaws of the Inverness brand piercing guns. He should be glad they did not use Studex, the earring has been known to get bent while piercing the ear.
