How interesting that the dice version of Las Vegas Gambit would turn out to be High Rollers 7 years later produced by the same Merill Heatter and hosted by the same Wink Martindale. This is exactly like its bonus game.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! I DONT want Regis! Bring back GAMBIT! Not Catch 21, GAMBIT!!!!! Don't care how...I want it now! Don't care how, I want it NOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always wished I could have gotten a pair of those dice as well as a deck of those giant Gambit cards. I suppose since this was "LAS VEGAS" Gambit that it was fitting that they had both a blackjack game and a dice game, but I still preferred the old version that had the Gambit board.

Wait, I just read your info description about LV Gambit. Wheel wasn't the only game left after it canceled. What about Blockbusters, Password Plus, and Card Sharks? NBC had @ least four other game shows on it's line-up between 1980-1983 before Sale joined Wheel.
No way. Wink announced that Regis Philbin has his own talk show when Las Vegas Gambit went off the air. Regis' old talk show was more short lived than Live with Regis and Kelly.
Martindale popping up to remind us that it was the finale was pretty scary. Then again, they had to do that 'cause they probably didn't know by the time this was taped.
Did this apply to stations that aired on other than NBC stations or syndication with that Wink in the little box reminding viewers that this is the last broadcast? In Detroit, it was shown on WXYZ channel 7 and when I watched it, the reminder did not show up at the end because it is an ABC station but the syndicated Regis Philbin airs on this station. Did the tape of the same broadcast had with the reminder for NBC and without the reminder for broadcasts not seen on the NBC affiliates?

Was this the last taped show? I figured it would have aired in August 1981 with reruns airing until November 27, 1981.

They didn't know at the time that this would be it.

The theme of this show sounds a LOT like one of the "Price is Right" songs!

The sound effect for rolling a double is from the original High Rollers.

When did the Las Vegas Gambit Board bonus round get replaced by the Las Vegas Gambit Galaxy bonus round? May 1981?

The 3 Texas Musketeers (KPRC-Houston, KMOL-San Antonio & KXAS-Dallas) all preferred Donahue.

This was the last time Kenny Williams would announce on a game show.

The bonus game probably was to make up for the loss of High Rollers courtesy of Letterman.
Maybe that's how they decided on Wink for the HR revival... even though they used sound effects from Trebek's version here.
Hondo20132 3 years ago
It seemed that High Rollers proved to be much better than Gambit.
BlackwoodCompany 3 years ago
It would be, as Wink would host HR six years later.

Well, Wink did host the original "Gambit" on CBS from 1972-1975. "High Rollers" did last a little longer when Alex Trebek was hosting.

That buzzer used on LVG was the same as Bill Cullen's Blockbusters if I am not mistaken.
