You misunderstand the very concept of why this happens though. Nostalgia is a powerful masking agent for reality. And nostalgia is what drvies older people to embrace the music of their teenage years and dislike the modern music.

We'll inevitably have that same nostalgia, because the good times we have now are soundtracked by this very music. And we'll grow to love it way too much; all the while disavowing the new music because it lacks the same "heart" as our beloved music. Nostalgia's brutal.
