I will remove the mystery. It;s Tito Gobbi. The way I can tell is it;s the second best recording I have ever heard. Compared to Igor Gorin it's shit, but next to him it's the best recording extant.

People make such a big deal over Gobbi's high notes ... I think they're wonderful here. This was the first rendition of the aria that I really grew to love; I even went to the point of even dancing about the room to the sound of it once. What can I say? His energy and enthusiasm are catching.

even tho his high notes were never "easy",this interpretation shows his unique vocal artistry . His voice expresses whatever there can be expressed by a singer; joy, presence, drive and softness. Deep admiration for this extraordinary baritone !
