Would REALLY like to know where you got the music for this? Or if you could email it? I would love to learn this piece and relative pitch aside, learning this by ear ain't gonna cut it.
@StonewallElwood I bought a book with all 6 preludes written for Cello and transposed them by sight. I refuse to email copied music to people because that takes money away from publishers who could better use that money for new music pieces.
My only complaint, which is obviously not your fault, is that I wish sax makers could make it so their keywork was quieter. But maybe it isn't possible...?
@andycantu14 Except Mark VI's are not that great for classical, atleast in my opinion. The YBS-62 has a warmer, woodier sound where as the Mark VI is a little brassier sounding which is why they are always used for jazz. Just my opinion.
@andycantu14 SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT MARK VI's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE A FUCKING BANDWAGON. HES GONNA PLAY WHETEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS TO PLAY!!! im sorry. i just read so many threads about everyone sucking the mark VI's dick. it get very annoying. but dammit hop off the bandwagon kid.
@venskus2009 dude, chill. mark vi's are amazing at jazz, but like sklrjkt said, they aren't great for classical. and if you don't like mark vi's, ive got some advice for you. don't use them.
@IceClanWarrior Anticipate the lower notes...theres an exercise where you go from the note before the trouble note down to the note, but voice the trouble note on the previous one. Then start gradually shortening the time you are voicing the lower note until you get it to be unnoticeable. Also when practicing dont be afraid to honk it out...work on hitting the note first, and the finesse of it later. Hope this helps!
beautiful!!, im curious how did you play the part with the little 0 above it,? did you di you re articulate the f#? just asking cause i know its difficult to play the low b as an f#.
i'm curious, if i have the cello music, how do i transpose for a bari? my teacher told me to read it as it is, but change the F to F#, D to D#, G to G#, and C to C#... should that work? i have just started on it and it just doesn't sound right, I mean, it could be me, but i am asking just in case... wonder if any1 can help.
@bballvballlover31 That isn't quite right. Basically, you are going to change the clef to treble and the key signature to G concert (E on Bari). That is where your teacher got that. The accidentals are going to have to be changed, so for example a flat may make something actually a natural, and a sharp may function actually as a double sharp. It takes some getting used to, but I'm sure you'll figure it out! Keep with it!
Es ist zweifelsfrei eine Meisterleistung, die Cello Suite auf dem Bariton-Saxophon zu interpretieren. Dennoch: Bach schrieb diese Suite für ein Streichinstrument - des musikalischen Ausdruckes wegen !

@XtremeEuph That is the hardest part: creating your own phrases to use and making them sound justified, especially since we have to breathe! There are times I made phrases too long, especially in this video, and lost some support. If I had the ability to circular breathe I would have done it, but I haven't taken the time to do that yet.
@superphil92 It's in the original key as opposed to transposed like you would have to do with Tenor or Alto. Since the open string on Cello is C and low A is a C I just played it from the cello part.
i was wondering if you knew if i could get the music actually for bari sax, or is my only option getting the cello music and changing the key and such?
very nice, I'm thinking of opening with this for my senior recital, but I'm not sure whether I should play it on bari or not (never played that instrument before)
@Nokumurra I literally bought the cello sheet music and just changed the key in my head and the same thing with accidentals. Since Bari is in Eb, you can read bass clef like it is treble. There are versions that are actually arranged for sax, but they only go down to the Bb rather than the low A you can do on Bari. Not to mention I prefer to play it in the original key.
@TenaciousFuckYou ...I think you mean Emotional. And it actually is at a maximum only about 10 bpm faster at some parts. I suggest you listen to some of the greats such as Mischa Maisky. The prelude is meant to have a quick pace with some lilt in areas, which I hope came across some in my rendition. If I were actually prepping this for a performance it would be different, but this was just for fun.
Your keys are really loud. Your tone is fabulous! You did a wonderful interpretation for this. Keep working on that low register. The low B and Bb are bears to get out that soft sometimes. A very enjoyable performance! Thank you for sharing.
@Saxyboy90 Thanks man! I appreciate that. And I agree...I think I need some new pads or to tweak the action a bit more. I feel more I need to work on the high E's at the end though...those were a bit sloppy because of the hand position. Thanks again!
@archlordXd0 It's a Yamaha YBS-62, Vandoren BL3 Mouthpiece, Vadoren Optimum Ligature with the vertical bar plate, and Vandoren Bluebox 5's. I am realizing I need to redo a video of this because the sound quality is actually not totally accurate. Look out for one soon!
@RickTri2 I was mostly testing out my new mics, and the cello suites are something I just happened to have on hand. I plan on doing a more serious recording eventually but this was just to make sure I had the mics working how I wanted them. Thanks for the comments.
i play bari and m facorite song has always been Bach Cello Suite no. 1 Prelude and always regreted not playin cello. but now that i can play it on my bari do u have the sheet music. becuz i cant find it anywhere?
very good interpretation. I try to play that very nice bach composition with mly old baritone sax but meet some difficulies when I change the register and paly the medium D# and with the end. But I work it hardly !
this is great.
