@csehszlovakze there were no "black metal" days back then, because there was no such thing as "trve kvlt" black metal in the 80s. quorthon made metal in the fashion of great bands like saxon and motorhead, but his songs were about evil things. the quality of the albums wasn't his choice, but, unlike the kvlties who can't play guitar solos and brushed them off as "over-rated", quorthon could and did play sweet guitar solos.

And there's tons of Black Metal that contains a lot of Bathory's elements, even as bookworm1138 talks about guitar solos. But you seem more rational, considering you've identified Bathory's differences.

@bookworm1138 Lmfao. It's not all about the "guitar solos" you know. Guitar solos don't make up any decent portion of good song structure. Yes many guitar solos work well with songs but I've NEVER once doubted a good rhythm set up beforehand and that includes 4 chords, one for each bar types of songs. Most of cases improvisation can even work amazingly well overtop of that. That's how efficient a song could be, even in Metal. Personally I'm supportive of all composition choices.
