im looking to use a pico projector in a head mounted display set up. Where the projector is only having to read a max of 8 inches from ones face. how big is the image that far from the projector?
The biggest problem with Microvision's picture seems to be pincushioning (what some call "bowtie: effect), where the edges curve in. That's puzzling since the Microvision has no lens. In fact, I'd expect the opposite effect, barreling (edges bending outward), since the natural shape traced by a central laser (or beam source) is spherical, which is why old CRT TVs had a roundish square screen.
Do you know what causes the pincushioning, and whether it's really as bad as it looks in the video?
So I've watched a lot of videos of this projector and in all of them there is that bar of light moving across the projected screen every second or so. Now is that visible to the naked eye and only visible on camera? Or is it not as noticeable in person?
@JustPastAlaska I was thinking the same thing. Editing your videos and then having your own in home mini imax dome :) you could even project it inside of an all white tent or something similar.
Sh-sh-sh... Here is a coupon code to get VGA Dock for free when you buy SHOWWX at the Microvision site (otherwise it's $50!): MVISREF1229. Valid until 9/30/2010
Impressive! This is, I think, a killer app for the device. I cannot wait until people like Exhibitor magazine and other trade show organizations embrace PicoP, focus free technology

like having 2 of them in sync to have 3D (or several in sync to have very large resolution 3D on a proper display surface).

Props man.
Question, how would one go about doing this on a spherical screen?
