i doubt there was one person in attendance, who wished she wasnt there that night .. it was a night to remember for all. I think this woman shows a lot of guts and moxie walking into an environment like that, and, looking like she ejoyed every minute of it. I think hockey is a great game to watch and i can think of no better ambassador of the game than her.

About a third of the people in the arena boo-ed, unsolicited. I don't think Al Trautwig was the only one who thought it was inappropriate to inject politics. The Flyers can do what they want but Al has a point - nothing kills a party faster than injecting politics and religion.

You'd think someone who's been covering sports for as long as Al Trautwig has would've realized that this wasn't 'injecting politics' anymore than when Bush, Obama or any other politician (or dignitary) throws out a first pitch at a ball game. If anyone injected politics it was him and whatever morons at Madison Square Garden Network who thought it was necessary to even ask whether it was appropriate for the most well known hockey mom to drop the puck at an NHL game.

A president throwing the ball or dropping the puck is different to a nominee, especially during a hotly contested election, by giving her a national platform it would "appear" that they are supporting one candidate over another.

Now if they wanted to be fair they will have to be completely ridiculous and let; Joe Biden, Bob Barr and Ralph Nader drop the puck in the up coming games.

So Al is right you dont set a stupid precedent and alienate parts of your fan base.

Obama has already thrown out the first pitch at ball games -- and as recently as yesterday, his campaign contacted the Phillies organization to see if if he could throw out the first pitch during one of the NL playoff games. (They told him to take a hike.) Mind you, Palin was INVITED to her ceremony, Obama tried (and failed) to invite himself.

Obama threw the pitch in Chicago in 2005 as a Senator of Illinois, If Palin had dropped a puck as Gov of Alaska it would not be an issue.

When you pay to visit a game you should not be forced to partake in Political theatre, regardless of the Party.
