@bradynbear actually in the UK she is. I knew Stella when she was an actress (name of melissa Jordan) and I stage managed a one woman play called Adutt Child Dead Child,, helped her learn her lines and used to "kiddy sit" for her and her partner . This was back in the 80s before she turned to painting full time and she was discovered by the Art Dealers Saatchi and Saatchi. We have just started emailing again (-:
i must say that sometimes I do not understand. I really do not understand why I like some PJ Harvey music, I just do. And why I like the juxtaposition of the paintings with PJ songs is also something I do not understand. I simply know that I like this. Perhaps the vibrant colours argue the mood, or the underlying uglieness is so hidden, but at the same time so apparent. Maybe it is the sorrow in many of these pieces that speaks to me, but thanx for putting this up here.
Her works are fab. Early 90s I worked as trainee Stage Manager at Kings Head Theatre In Islington and this a young lady came in theatre and persuaded me to get time off to help her learn her words for a two night show she was doing there and I was the Stage Manager fo those two nights anyway. Its was called "Adult Child Dead Child" and was a one woman show. The young lady was Mellissa Jordan........later to become Stela Vine,
she shouldn't be famous... :T
