If you want a professional flat iron and you are ok with spending around $140 I would highly recommend the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it heats up to 450f with temperature control, dual voltage, tourmaline ceramic plates with rounded edges which makes it great for also curling your hair. Also has a 3 year warranty. If you do look at other irons make sure to stay away from irons with painted plates (colored plates) these can damage your hair.

You can find most heat protectant sprays at CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, or any other brand name store. You can find them in the hair isle usually where you would find hairspray and other hair protducts :)

this could be because your straghtener is too hot, or your hair is too dry. make sure you always use heat protectant.

i would have to say its easier to straighten short hair than long hair. ive had both short hair(before) and long hair(now) and it takes WAY MORE effort to straighten long hair than short hair

My hair is long and layered, and I find that the next day after I straighten it the ends of the layers in my hair tend to stick up/stand out a little. It's really frustrating, but it might be because I don't straighten my hair everyday and avoid washing it everyday. Do you have any tips?

So do you sleep with straightened hair? I think when you toss and turn in your sleep, you hair "molds" into another shape, if you get what I mean. You can either fix your hair every morning or sleep with your hair loosely tied and avoid sleeping in your back. :P

Conair Infiniti Silver Nano. I got it for $75. It leaves my hair really soft and smooth. I love it. :D

For first time buyers, I wouldn't recommend splurging on an expensive flat iron right away. There are many brands out there that are just as good with a better price. I would say Solia, HAI, or Conair Infiniti is a good place to start. Learn how to use a flat iron properly before buying a really expensive one. No use spending so much money if you don't have the right technique.

I also believe the opposite to be true. A cheap flat iron can be great with the proper technique. I use to have one of those cheap Revlon irons, but I was very happy with it. Just don't forget your heat protectant!
