Just in case no one else has pointed it out the D Power chord you're playing at 1:45 is a Dsus2 because the note on the B string (fifth fret) is an E (2nd). Whereas a D poer chord just has the notes D and A in it. Cheers

its all about building up strength in your left hand, just practice barring all six strings and making sure you have all the strings ringing, give it time

he means Chop and to achieve a chop you palm mute on your way down for a strum and strike the strings right after the mute in a "chopping" manner..I heard chug a few times too but i realized that's just his accent.
