Yeah i think this was recorded in '71 and Walk on Hot Coals wasn't recorded till '73 so i'd say he came up with the music first and put old blues lyrics to it before writing his own lyrics.
Hi Padraig yeah it does sound like walk on hot coals. I saw recently on your you tube videos. Rory Gallagher on the late late show. I never ever thought he would be on it. I saw on the news today his good friend Ronnie Drew who is another Irish legend gone sadly had made a very last album of him a few months before his death. There selling it tonight to give money to charity. Sadly also Rory would of been 60 this year god love him.
does any 1 no how 2 download just the tunes of rory to an mp3 player from you tube????

I closed my eyes and listened, thought it sounds like walk on hot coals, but I see paidrig already guessed it.
It's so cool to here a song thats being worked still. Really cool playing by Rory, he was such an emotional writer and player, god bless him.

Walk on the hot coals. It sounds like a 1971/72 recording, his guitar style here reminds me a lot of "Live in Europe" LP.

This is called "Shake for Me" and it's the lyrics of a Howlin' Wolf song but the tune later became the masterpiece that is "Walk on Hot Coals."
