  • i love how it has the russian big ass tail wing =)

  • the wheels can't go in?:)

  • @thekillingship they can , only they stay out because this was a first flight...

  • Awesome plane! thanks for the upload!

  • Nice aircraft and a very good pilot perfect landing.

  • is this better than the C-130 J of US?

  • @laluprasad111 sure

  • Very cool indeed. Great aircraft, but about the video:

Isn't this a video of the maiden flight a year ago?

The aircraft in the other video I've seen here on youtube was gray.

  • beautiful!

  • look closely at the engines . same as the a330-300

  • WOW it just jumps off the runway...pretty cool

  • Hope to see this in the U.S!

  • the only thing i dont like about this plane is that it uses cascade reversers i wanted bucket! oh well looks like a great aircraft hope to see it in the states

  • jaja

  • Good Job Japan and also great cargo aircraft. Japan Kawasaki XC-2 is comparable to Brazil Embraer KC-390 and Russia/India UAC/HAL Il-214.

  • I had a ninja, but this airplane kick ass!!! I want it!!!

  • how much cost this aircraft?

  • @SuperArcherSS thanks

  • I LOVE HER.

  • Wow.. Kawasaki made a Jet engines?? Tight....

  • nice go japan

  • Wow it been a while since Kawasaki made a plane.

  • I don't know much about aircraft, but I must say I was impressed at how fast this beast gets airborne.

  • Yes. The minimum takeoff distance of XC-2 is 500m. It's just good for our small Japan!XD

  • C-2 uses the same engine as C-5.

If C-2 use four engines,The total engine power is too high and the airframe might be disjoint.

  • Cheers for the good japanese work @ Kawasaki! It's nice to see another option as mid sized transport... but... is it smaller than A400M?

  • ADD two more engine and its a C-17.

  • Nice looking plane indeed!

  • Nice plane! Great job!

  • Looks like a Kawasaki C-1 and a C-17 had a baby!

  • LOL!!!!

  • @SoggySoxSaga Looks like Jr. Don't want two engines like his daddy.

  • Why does it fly with its hears down?

  • gears*

  • Because it's the first flight.

The first test flight of any new aircraft is always with the landing gear locked down.

  • Ah I see. Thanks.

  • The engine is Huge, Pretty looking aircraft and i think performance will be awesome too. I guess we won't be able to use this air craft as their Japanese Constitution forbid from selling military equipment. Kawasaki you proof again that you not only make good bike but also awesome Air craft.

  • There are no constitution in Japanese to forbid selling military equipment.

Japanese Three Principles on Arms Export are only resolution of cabinet.

It is being reviewed because this principle hinders an international joint development in recent years.

  • That thing took off like a rocket!

  • Have to say that it looks a lot like the C17 only with 2 less engines. Especially the tail section.

  • Congratulations, Kawasaki. This looks like a solid and capable aircraft, and hopefully it will have more success as an export than previous indigenous Japanese designs.

Now why Airbus can't do the same for the A400M, with 9 billion dollars and a decade-long headstart, is beyond me.

  • @Magicb33r why do you mean why can't airbus do the same? do you know what's better ?

  • @Magicb33r The A400M is using brand newly developed engines (which took a while to build) along with the airframe itself.

When I look at this, all I really see is the body of a C-17 with 2 C-5 engines.

The A400M`s Europrop TP400-D6 engines are quieter giving it an advantage in that area.

But don`t get me wrong it looks like a very capable aircraft and perfectly suited to Japan`s needs.

  • @sertox12345 Eurgh...that's not very nice :s

  • @Magicb33r ehm.... just think about it ....... maybe because turbojet engine is unusable in sandy places ?? but propler engine is still usable because there are no problem with sand or other little pieces :D

  • @MrHolygas Oh, I completely understand the rationale of using turboprops for environments like that. I simply can't figure out why the A400M program has been so mismanaged :/

  • @Magicb33r well .... me too.

  • Landing

  • so how does it compare with the ninja?

  • Is this kawasaki the ones that make motorcycles?

  • yes in fact it is, crazy huh?

  • Yes.

  • @larlar752000 The Heavy Industries part is a bit different than the motorcycle company although they are part of the same conglomerate.

  • @larlar752000

...and Mitsubishi also made the Japanese air force and navy what it was between 1932 and 1945...A mother to defeat!

  • @larlar752000 yes they are

  • Today I herad "EADS Wants Another $9 Billion For A400M: Germany"

Total development cost of XC-2 and XP-1(which was developed together) is far less than $9 billion.

And unit cost of XC-2 will be about $130 million.

It is interesting that there were no mention about XC-2 at all in German Wikipedia's article of A400M.

    However,they have similar abilities.

  • German Army sticks to payload 31.5t for their IFV Puma.

And I heard A400M was overweight for 12t.

Maximum payload of XC-2 for Military Ver is 30+t and it seem to be able to stand 32t

payload if you make Compromise with Range and STOL ability for a little.

Still XC-2 for civilian Ver have range 37t/5600km.

  • Very Nice! 10/10

  • Hey, Europe the Japanese just pwned the A400M; no drama, off-the-shelf engines and not $200 million per unit! Congrats, Japan on this beautiful aircraft.

  • @dmcfarli Because they have the exact same capabilities, right?

  • They appear to have exactly the same capabilities unless you have evidence to the contrary.

  • @tenga3wa

    @UminoNuko

    訂正ありがとう。

    XC-2をベースにした電子戦機などの派生型開発も計画されているようなので期待したいものですね

    XC-2

    Payload:Max 30+t(Military) 37.6t(civilian)

  • The first test flight of any new aircraft is always with the landing gear locked down, as a safety precaution first, and second so the escorting jets can look to see if hydraulic fluid is leaking from within the landing gear panels.

  • Only sometimes (A400m took it in) but yes, it's certainly not a sign of failure.

  • orchardr, American design is the best solution for the medium Cargo configuration. Thus the every countries adopts the same configurations of high wing, T-tail,aft-loading gate, and bogy-type under carriage. At this time, XC-2 is the best medium-large cargo in payload, range, and speed performances.

  • Kawasaki XC-2(JASDF)

    Maximum speed: 610mph (980km/h)

    Cruise speed: 550 mph (890 km/h)

    Payload: Max 36.7t

    Range: 0t/10,000 km 12t/8,900 km 37t/5,600 km

    (0t/6200 miles 12t/5,530 miles 37t/3,480 miles)

  • kinda look similar to the antonov 225, just a lot smaller

  • They are regular licensed productions.

  • Great! With Japan's solid industry, they should be able to come up with things like this. I think the Chinese big airplane will take off soon.

  • i knew this issue, it was nice~!

    that is awesome aviation technology!

    how nice they were...

  • gears are not retractable?

  • @SuperSexyCommando

It is common of the first test flight for any plane.

  • Congratulations on maiden flight. It seems to be relaxed take-off very much.

  • This aircraft gets a lot positive comments on Chinese military forums. The design is much better than its European counterpart Airbus A400M.

  • Very nice indeed! With all the problems surrounding the A400M in Europe, they should export the plane :D

  • Hope they build this better than the bikes..

  • Cootiful !!!

  • fucking nice!
