I am absolutely shaken, totally stunned, how beautiful this. I can totally understand how she says doing this song, this poetry, was a healing way for her to pull herself up, after the relationship she had got demolished. I love her. Hope she's got more like this, in her to sing in the years ahead. DK
MRARTBOY anyway, RL J she does not take drugs, thirty years ago, for acouple years, sure. unlike mick jagger or steve tyler or ...who took drugs for decades. yet dont seem to have to live with the 'stigma' the way she does. Sexist and stupid comment.
Waited 20 years to see her live, and when I saw her at the Royal Theatre in Glasgow she was wacked-out on Coke and pissed off to be there-some poor bloke in the front row copped it for taking her photo as I remember!-but, regardless of that faux pas, there is nobody that sounds like her on earth.
Thank God for Rickie Lee Jones and Sade. Their song-craft is simply amazing... I'm a better man for knowing their music... Humanity in song... It shines beautifully Rickie!!!.... "Bonfires" is a perfect gem!!!...
55 yrs old now and she still has the magic. Brilliant songwriting and her voice sounds the same as it did when she was 24. Can't think of any other songwriter who can wear her heart on her sleeve so well
And people ask me why I haven't written anything lately - Rickie writes my songs for me. This one didn't just bring tears to my eyes. It made me weep.
i saw her in rudolstadt last friday. when she played this song i started crying and i kept on doing that almost the whole rest of the concert... awesome woman. i'm glad i heard her live!

I love the woman. I simply love Rickie for the ways she keeps uncovering shapes to life that let me swallow when I think I can't or I think I just won't. Somedays I think 'oh, what is the use?' and then she nudges with art and I remember that I want more of the whole damn meal.
Nah man Rickie would not have that lol..But bless ya for caring bout her..She learns from her pain and turns it into music we can enjoy..We all gotta get a bit of this girl's spirit.
I just saw RLJ 2 nights ago in Long Island. I was confused by the song list, which was very heavy on slow tempo ballads and lullabies. She started with "Sailor Song", which I found strange, and ended her encore-less set with this song. And not a single song from my favorite, "Sermon". Now I understand why. She said she just had her heart broken, most likely by Lee Canelton, her "Sermon" collaborator. She seemed sad, very unlike last year when she did a rockin' "Sermon"-heavy concert in NYC.
Federico, gracias por subir este vídeo. Hacía tiempo que me sentía algo "desencantado" con RLJ y esto me ha devuelto la devoción... Gracias otra vez. Abrazo.
This is lovely, but, well, i know it's you're job Rickie, but it's a very sad song. When you get to London next, i shall hand you some Roses after this one. xx
