Thing is nowadays we need catchy tunes exactly like this opening sequence. Why they got rid of it i dunno. Shame coz the music and the graphics was fine just the way it was. ahhh i miss those days
BBC Breakfast News was started on Oct. 2, 1989, Monday at 6:30 a.m. The News presenters were Nicholas Witchell and the late Jill Dando. This replaced BBC Breakfast Time.
You're absolutely right, exploder76. But it was lasted until Apr. 9, 1993. Such a shame Ms. Dando was murdered by the stalkers in 1999 (unlike her late friend, Sue Lawley, who was always safe). Cheers, Mr. Baldwin! Diana M. May 4, 2009
Weird to think that BBC1 used to show The Flintstones at 6.05am daily, although I believe a 6.30am start-up was the norm from the early 1990's, until 1993.
This BBC breakfast news intro is on tv ark but it has a BBC1 Wales clock

Indeed and by the start of 1990 Ceefax was back in the 6 to 6.30 slot although it was not branded as Ceefax AM.

The absolute dying fall of the East German ancien regime.
Peter Brook is the announcer :).
The whole thing comes across as very, *very* Birtist, though.
