Actually, you're just saying what the majority of people (teenagers) are thinking about this movie. So it is so "annoying". I would like to have listenned to a good review, I'm disappointed.

I think your review is a little bit useless and I really want to know why you liked the movie if you says the scene were too long and "annoying"! You're contradictory ! Do you just ask yourself one second why the scenes were long ? With much more maturity maybe, even if you didn't like the movie, you should have asked you more questions. The scenes are very long because the camera is supposed to be objective in Gus' movies. If you really want to see a long movie, just watch "Giant".

this interview MADE my day :L i just finished watching the movie no joke 5 mins ago and only watched it cause i'm a huge huge huge huge fan of Taylor Momsen the girl who played Jennifer and was in the Grinch as i'm sure you know by now and i thought considering she was 14 and doing a scene like the one she did with Gabe Nevins (Alex) she was very impressive! I 100% agree with everything you said and I COULD NOT STAND your one macy's acting... sweet JESUS it was bad!! dunno how she got the part!!

i agree "elephant" had too many long shots following people walking (and at the expense of a coherent ending even--he used up half the film with that crap) but i've seen this twice and it really didnt have more than a few seconds of that--smoke a doob beforehand, time seems slower and everyhting else zips right by--whole movies seem as short as half hour shows...

Gus Van Sant is an artist. He brings out the youthful beauty in everyone. This film, "Paraonid Park", I find myself falling in love with this kid. 'nough said.

This film felt really indie to me, I really liked that about it. I really thought it was worth a watch :) I never really pay attenton to directors (cept tim burton, he's amazing) i wanted to see it, because I liked the look of it, I do IMA at school so I can appreciate what the director was trying to achieve, and I think it was really well done :) only one line sticks out in my head "i don't like her either but getting laid is better than not getting laid" xD

I loved this movie. I think most people write it off as a movie trying really hard to be artsy, and that it was a fail for gus van sant...but far from it. This guy directed ..good will hunting..milk...he knows movies..this doesnt obviously make the movie amazing, but what does is that he brought a style where I think he was purposefully trying to make it look student film..the crappy acting, the random music, the long artsy shots..its got his style fused with one you'd see a college kid make

I suggest you to read more about film, basic classic screenwriting like The Poetics, Mckee, Field... classic literature and of course about critics, like Peter Solin... you basses you're comments on personal matters, you should do that and be a little bit more accurate, I mean, that long shots are a little hideous but they are very poetics i mean... It's trying to be realistic and directors usually do things just because, they're directors...

I myself hated this movie. It was so boring. The only interesting shot was of the dying guard.

The book is probably amazing, because this is a very personal thing, and the movie was just not able to convey his thoughts properly.

We (me and my mum) ended up turning the movie off halfway through because we couldn't endure anymore!

My suggestion...don't buy this movie. Rent it so that you don't waste 20 buck on a piece of crap that you may or may not like.

Awesome review I completely agree on everything you said, and I mean everything - Alex(annoying), acting (bad but enjoyed), long ass walks down hall(horribly boring and used as fillers). But I still liked it somehow.

I think you could have done a better review for this movie, even though I still liked yourreview. This movie had boring suspense and the ending wasn't as great as I'd hoped it to be. It was a VERY long movie(I saw it on YT, it's different somehow) but I still really did love this movie. I enjoyed the long shots. I'd watch it again anytime so many people should see it.

I think the thing that you comment on - Van Sant's lingering shots of teens -- are a reflection of his adoration of the adolescent. He really loves you guys... if you know what I mean...

Hey...do you wanna see a movie with "ridiculously stupidly" long shots? You should check out any movie by Hungarian Director Bela Tarr...his movie Werckmeister harmóniák (Werchmeister Harmonies). It has 38 frames and it's a 2 1/2 hour movie. Or his movie Satan's Tango (Sátántangó) which is 7 hrs long. I've only seen the prior one, and I personally loved it.

Van Sant takes much inspiration from Bela Tarr so I'm not sure if you'd like it, but they are true works of art
