Gravel for President. He opens up our minds to corruption, bribery, double standards, unlawfullness, and other demeaning traits of our current politicians. He is a voice of truth and what I love about him is he cares about the entire world and its peoples not just America and Israel like most politicians.
Personally I like Gravel and Biden the most from the bucket of democrat side. They can help each other out alot.
Gravel is excellent with domestic matters, but he is just not a war council. Biden is great with numbers and timing and foreign/war issue, but he lacks points for domestic.
if this man gets elected it would be a disaster, he only has 1 issue in his campaign, thats the iraq ware and how bad Bush is for starting it, and democrats are bad and republicans are war mongoring and both want to kill soldiers. War has been going on since the start of civilization, and it will always be there, its like HIV, you can't get rid of it.
I completely disagree with you. Ending the Iraq war is hardly the only issue he stands for (although that is one of the most important issues right now-- even if you believe "war happens" this war did not just happen-- the idea of preemptive, undeclared war is evil and even if you happen not to care about the cost in terms of lives, at least be responsible enough to care about the cost in terms of $.)
Other important stances by Gravel include beng against the war on drugs-- another costly and immoral waste of taxpayers money and he is also for doing away with the IRS-- which is also an immoral waste of money. He is also anti-Patriot Act as much of the Patriot Act is an unconstitutional invasion of privacy. Wake up!! The candidates with your best interest at heart are not the "top tier" candidates. I think ire believes that congress has the power to start wars by declaration. Face it, Bush lied to start the war, to get the support. Iraq didn't do anything to us.
I really like some of Mike's ideas - I think, if all the candidates actually had the chance to engage in a fair fight, with no public preconceived notions regarding them, Mike would probably come out on top with his ideas. Stay cool man Mike.
I have one doubt about Gravel. The true democracy approach. He wants people to have a more direct say in government. And, personally I don't have a lot of faith in the average person. But, if they vote for him, my faith will rise.
Yes it appears it takes allot to get AMERICAN citizens to move forward! I agree with that. BUT, once they decide to move forward, WATCH OUT! Cant stop a decisive population like tough Americans!
Let's be honest - the Democratic party has NO CHANCE of nominating Mike Gravel or even someone half as good. Gravel should dump the Republicrats and run independent.
I dont think Gravel has a slightest chance to win no matter what party should he get nominated. However, I love his ideas and message that Americans can truely change the course we are on if we unite and insist on ourrepresnetative doing what we want! I love that message because I agree with that thought proccess!
Two candidates who voted to authorize the war in Iraq (Hillary and Edwards) now plan to team up probably against the real anti-war candidates (Obama, Biden, Gravel and Kucinich)who she says are insignificant.
Scheming Hillary is clearly only concerned about winning.

How the hell can they have a debate talking about gay rights and not invite Mike Gravel, that right there is discrimination which is hypocrisy, trying to have a debate against rights but taking somebody else's right to speak away
I stand up and APPLAUD this cantankerous old maverick Democrat! Thank you for plain speak about the issues facing us and your forthrightness in going about it. The few at the top with the most monetary contributions aren't real choices...they are put out front by the money. It's my hope that your campaign can show how ridiculous this is! I will do my part to help get your voice to as many American ears as I can!
ha, Ron Paul did the same thing with the Iraq "war". He wrote up a deceleration of war against Iraq, and none of the congresspeople would vote to go to war like that.
"The Congress with sufficient resolve and the strength of leadership can enact this law to withdraw American forces from Iraq within 120 days. Violation of this law would cause the President, the Vice-President, Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Treasury to commit a felony, setting the stage for their immediate impeachment and prosecution"
MIke Gravel is not the ONLY one for real change. Dennis Kucinich is on the same level as Mike Gravel. Ron Paul is on the same level. I would be happy if any of these three were president.
Barak Obama wants to use nukes against Iran. Fuck that.
Gravel is the only one offering a significant change, which in my opinion, is what this country really needs. We dont need a bunch of theatrics and catchy word play, we need a candidate who speaks his mind, and doesnt play the game at the expense of you and me.
I have a deep respect for this man.I will vote for him.Its time for this country to have a honest forthright man in the whitehouse now.A man that knows whats going on to. He deserves the presidency.
I think to myself, "Wow, this guy is amazing. If he somehow became president, maybe I'd have hope for this country." Then I realize I'm dreaming, as I often do. The forces of greed in this country are too strong to be defeated by decency. The rich own the nation and they're powerful enough to make sure they keep owning it.
I still think it's wonderful that there are people like Gravel and Nader to give me a choice that really represents me.
It's thinking like that will ensure that the rich own this country for ever more. At the least try and stand up for what you believe, fight for it if that is the position you are in. If you don't get what you want at least you still tried. They have already won if you don't.
We definitely should stand up for what we believe in and try to make a change, but we have to be realistic about what will be accomplished. False hope can be deadly.
I have so much respect for this man, I will vote for him, I will support him and anyone that he endorses. I am willing to do the footwork to change things in our country.
I agree that it is very sad but americans deserve what they are getting. Individuals always blame others. Citizens need to take responsibility (now there is a concept). The fact is that the citizens of this country could take control of their country but they chose NOT to. I have no sympathy just disgust. We have let this happen because if you look at human history people like to be told what to do and are usually too lazy to do the hard work.
I agree that they deserve it but look at the people in America who vote for the good guys and the ones who mean well. Then we feel the effects of having these guys in power as well especially here in Canada, Bush has been horrible for us.
Please speak like this during your debates! Don't bash your competitors. I really want you to become president. If America sees this side of you, they will know you are the one. Become part of their family. You'd make an excellent leader.
As a human being i would find it hard to not get angry when im surrounded by large corperational funded, warmongering, death for profit, agenda hiding, baby killing, bastards. But perhaps your a bigger man than I. I think Gravel would make a excellent leader too!
I was one of those 50 million. I knew befor the first bomb was dropped that this was an unprevoked war of choice that had nothing to do with 911. anyone who didnt know that is personally responisble for the deaths of 3500 american soldiers. My conscience is clear
I was also not convinced. If Iraq had WMD, why attack and put our men in that great of danger? You don't slap somebody that has a gun pointed at your head.
I wonder if its his age that makes us all believe he doesnt have a chance to win the Presidency? His message surely is reaching a large amount of Americans!
have you forgotten that our political system is not controlled by the voters, it is controlled by the media, only the candidates with the largest pocket books will win.
This public believes itself to be enslaved to one of the two parties which present themselves as alternatives to each other but which in reality carry on business as usual - dialing for dollars at the public dole.
I noticed he didn't mention that Clinton gave China almost all out top secret weapon's technology in order to start this "Arms Race". I wonder if that was on purpose or...
Nice speech Mr Gravel. Im glad you address why you appear mad each debate many people dont understand and label you a loose cannon. Its got to be difficult not to be angry when other candidates want to treat American Soliders lives as pawns instead as humans with families and lives. Gravel Rocks!!
I like this guy, he has some great ideas. I wish he'd lay off the "5 minutes" thing though, it just sounds like he's whining about being treated unfairly (which, I agree, he was, but what good does that do now?)
Anyway, I hope he actually plans on becoming president instead of just using the campaign to state his views.
He only mentioned it once in this speech, but he also mentioned it several times during the debate, and several more times in the interview afterwards. It just gives me the feeling that every time I listen to a speech given by him I'll hear how he got screwed because he only had 5 minutes to talk.
Yes, and the kid on the airplane chanting "He hit meeee! He hit meeee! He hit meeee!" or "I'm bored! This is boooring! I'm bored!" may also be spouting the truth, however that makes it no less annoying.
Anyway, it's not a big deal, I'm planning on voting for him because I agree with almost all his issues, I was just offering a little constructive criticism.
Oh, c'mon, he's fighting the system, not whining. His whole campaign is about fairness and opportunity of the people, and I think he deserves a bit of that as well. Anyway, his ideas are excellent.
I don't mind constructive criticism, but I really don't see a problem with what he did. He's not "whining", the media really does cheat "second tier" candidates in the debates. Besides, I think it was intended as more of a joke than a legitimate complaint and obviously the audience thought it was funny. No harm done.
We need to see more of Mike. Please keep posting vids. Especially long ones like this. The more time people spend listening to him the more they will like him. People are hungry for someone who doesn't speak BS.
RIGHT ON! Everybody get out and be active! Send money to Gravel! Don't sit there cheering him or my comment on, DO it! Get up and be active! Let people know Gravel exists! vote for him in the primaries! Let your voice be heard! We must overturn the false democrats!
"We must never let the weight of this combination (military-industrial-congressional complex) endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted.
Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together."
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Farewell Address to the Nation on January 17, 1961
To Gravel's great credit he emphasizes (~05:20) the redundant secrecy of the government (Sen. Paul does so too). In my opinion this is of utmost importance. COMPLETE transparency of public affairs is an ideal all democracies should strive for. Armies should strive to base their strategies on might, instead of ruse and secrecy, and lay themselves bare to public scrutiny as much as possible.
The world is mine!! heheh i'm being silly now ahaha

Lay off? He only mentioned it once.
incarnadine256 4 years ago
He only mentioned it once in this speech, but he also mentioned it several times during the debate, and several more times in the interview afterwards. It just gives me the feeling that every time I listen to a speech given by him I'll hear how he got screwed because he only had 5 minutes to talk.

Yes, and the kid on the airplane chanting "He hit meeee! He hit meeee! He hit meeee!" or "I'm bored! This is boooring! I'm bored!" may also be spouting the truth, however that makes it no less annoying.
Anyway, it's not a big deal, I'm planning on voting for him because I agree with almost all his issues, I was just offering a little constructive criticism.
dredwolff 4 years ago
Oh, c'mon, he's fighting the system, not whining. His whole campaign is about fairness and opportunity of the people, and I think he deserves a bit of that as well. Anyway, his ideas are excellent.

I don't mind constructive criticism, but I really don't see a problem with what he did. He's not "whining", the media really does cheat "second tier" candidates in the debates. Besides, I think it was intended as more of a joke than a legitimate complaint and obviously the audience thought it was funny. No harm done.

Eloquent and funny.
What an awesome President Gravel could be.
in '08 my vote is for Gravel !!

Someone who adores democracy in its true sense will not, cannot, and should not speak softly when given an audience.

We need to see more of Mike. Please keep posting vids. Especially long ones like this. The more time people spend listening to him the more they will like him. People are hungry for someone who doesn't speak BS.

Congress is responsible for declaring war.
It was the beginning of the end for the Roman Empire when the Roman Senate became puppets to the Emperor.
Congress must stop shrugging it's responsibility.
