My dad spent 2 years in Sweden in his early 20's. He learned swedish beforehand and learned more when he was there. He taught me this song when I was 6 and a few other words in swedish. He taught me to sing it "ej svansar ej oron hava de" instead of the other way around though. I can still to this day sing it. :)
People from all cultures around the world have always celebrated the astronomical fact where the sun reaches its orbital peak, both in summer and winter.
In Cuzco, the Incas celebrated this date already one thousand years ago. Its therefore a global, pagan tradition, but everybody have their own way of celebrating it.
Unfortunately, neo-fascist and rasist groups such as the Swedish DemocRATS use this wonderful tradition to spread intolerance and rasism within the Swedish population.
I danced this dance just a few weeks ago in Stockholm. It is well-done in this video, but the people doing it do not look Swedish. Where was this video made?
i danced at this at a swedish end of year celebration with my friends and then we plunderd the tree

random utlänning: "Hey, Swede's 'ave got folk dance too, right?"
random svensk: "Yeeeaaah... We're... sort of... you know... imitating frogs..."
random utlänning: "o.o"
Den mest udda dansen ever ^^ Go Sverige<3 :)
