  • This was the GEM of groups!!!!

  • Awesome

  • Such a great song! :)

  • Doug Young was the last bass singer of the Statesmen .

  • How wonderful to see footage of the original group singing this song. It was very moving to see Hovie Lister and Jake Hess together again with the Gaither Homecoming group. Bill Gaither gave those old Gospel groups like the Statesmen, Happy Goodmans, LaFevres. Speers a chance to do what they love best again. What joy that must have brought those groups near the end of their lives to be singing for the Lord again!! You just can't beat Gospel music!!!

  • begin at 1:06 was hovie lister... jack toney ....parker.... jake hess ....Doug Young(?)......

  • OK, I was thinking of the old Picture.

    Thank you

  • I know you are the pro but looking at the old picture on Happy Rhythm, Jack is first, then Jake Hess, then Doy Ott, then Big Chief. The original is the third from the left and it is Doy Ott.

    Stan

  • i wasnt talking about the original in the beginning of the clip i was talking about when they sing it on stage beginning at 1:06

  • In the old picture from left to right: Denver Crumpler, Jake Hess, Doy Ott, Jim "Big Chief" Weatherington

  • Third from the left, is that Jack Toney?

  • yes

  • Am I wrong in thinking that is Doy Ott?

  • its jack toney

  • Beyond a shadow of a doubt... it is Doy Ott.

Jack Toney came in to replace Jake Hess when he [Jake] left The Statesmen to form the Imperials Quartet and it's still Jake Hess singing lead here.

  • once again...i was refering to the newer clip, the third from the left in the newer clip starting at 1:06 IS jack toney.

  • me encanta esta cancion

    i love this song

  • What group is this bass singer from?

  • What video is this from?
