@Ironjagg Touring and making records. He's back in Wolfsbane, they're making better music than they did the first time round. His solo stuff is pretty good too, better suited to Blaze's voice \m/

THE FUCK!! Blaze fucking ROCKS!! He's NOT Bruce Fucking Dickinson, he's BLAZE BAYLEY. DON'T YOU DARE CALL HIM A BAD FUCKING SINGER!!! It's just stupid to put him to sing like this. He rock's the water out of stones singing in his own fucking range. And thats the bottom line!!!!
@yellowmegavidz I can't understand why they did not tune down the guitars. It could had sounded good with Blaze if they had done that. Even the songs on Virtual XI and The X Factor are to high for him sometimes. But I'm glad that Bruce returned, and that Blaze could start his solo carrier by the money he earned in Maiden and be able to release songs that he can sing properly.
I am glad to had the chance to see Blaze live. It may be that he is not THE perfect choice for songs like The Evil That Men Do, but otherwise there a really great songs like "Lord Of The flies" which sounds strange with Dickinson on vocals. Everything must be fair. Both singers are good. But sometimes - even if everybody will say that it's blasphemy ^^ - i miss the "dark" touch as in songs like "Sign Of The Cross".
I wonder why they persisted in Maden him sing this song!!!!Blaze is a great singer with a beautiful voice aggressive....instead of doing it unnecessarily hoarse....because all the songs of Bruce not adapted for the his voice....could do more songs by Paul Di Anno!!!!
It was not blaze bayley fault to sing bad many songs of Maiden, it was STEVE HARRIS fault to choose him in band! Outside have many better singers also from Bruce DICKinson too!
@Koffingboll - yes, Blaze is singing a full two steps short of the minimum this song needs. At least a full step down to D tuning would be fair to this new singer - but I'm sure Steve can be very stubborn.
Blaze is a good musician, I'd hate to be him on stage right here, feeling like a knob!
I respect blaze at maiden's vocal era, but no one can say he had presence on stage!... Bruce looks like a monkey on the stage and takes the crowd to blowing, jumping, singing....
I Loved this era. A true Maiden fan respect all singers. I still hear The X- Factor and Virtual. And I hear too, bootlegs whit Blaze that he singed Bruce song's. Fuck you Blaze hatters.

Sounds like he is really trying to hit notes way out of his range, but instead the vocals go all over the place, and certainly not in tune with the song
Y'know, I can't understand the Maiden camp complaining that they sacked Paul Mario Day "for not having charisma" when he had acres more stage presence than this lump, Blaze (so tough - you thought up that epithet yourself, dude? When you were 7?). And Day's voice was miles better, more range, more richness. How does Blaze have the balls to stand in front of an audience while singing this song flat all the way through? Maiden must be cringing for Bruce - or at least Paul Mario Day - again.
Enough of the Blaze bashing - I saw Blaze in concert this past week with his own band, and can verify that he is an excellent frontman and has a band which is awesome. To all the doubters, go listen to the albums 'The Man Who Wouldn't Die' and 'Promise and Terror'.
As a lifelong Maiden fan (from the 80's) and one who also doubted Blaze in Maiden, I hold my hand up and admit that Blazes solo stuff is better than any of the Maiden albums since Bruce rejoined!
hmm, I really hate to compare musicians but this guy can't compete on any level with Bruce... no stage presence, his voice has nothing to do with the maiden sound and the band itself seems not to be on it's best days in this vid... Sorry, he may be a good vocalist, for other kind of music, but he is just unlistenable with maiden.
With all due respect, being a hardcore Maiden fan and actually likeing the albums Blaze did with them.....
I know 1/2 of it would sound terrible due to the fact that Blaze just doesn't have Bruce's range, but I wish they'd put out a live album w/ Blaze on vox. I just wanna hear him sing more of the older stuff to see how it is. I know they've got proper recordings locked away somewhere...
Oh Please, this is so painful. Blaze may be a good vocalist, but he CAN'T cover BRUCE. Yet somehow BRUCE sings the Blaze songs very well. Just check out sign of the cross from rock in rio.

If you were going to join the irons you would have to have a high range voice, simple as that, he makes dickinsons songs sound like shit in every single live recording ive ever heard,he shouldnt have bothered and i dont understand why the guys hired him in the first place...
Blaze deserves respect, you all know he did the best he could. Nobody could substitute Bruce, a big pression for any talentous singer. Who could do it better?
lack of energy !!why was he always locked in the same spot all the time,he was forcing himself really bad tryng to be a great vocalist ,bruce has the power to sing ,and with both hands he rises the audience ,he has the power to run all over the stage ,sorry ,as i maiden fan we have the right to say most of us didnt like this period in iron maiden.fan since 1986
I think Blaze did a great job on this song. I like every singer Maiden's ever had, just goes to show you that there not afraid to experiment, even if it may backfire in there face. It took alot of balls for Blaze to sing this song, I think it worked out well for him. :D
It still baffles me how blaze was even hired as singer for maiden. It looks like one of the roadies decided to jump on stage and sing. He has the stage presence of a corpse and the voice of my ass after eating to many baked beans. Out of all the singers that would have died to sing for maiden they chose this fool. Thank god for the Paul and Bruce years.
as much as I love blaze, he just doesnt have the range for this song. he's a brilliant singer but I think a lot of people saw it as too radical a change from bruce and maybe thats why a lot of people never really took to him. but he is NOT a bad singer, anyone who has seen him live will agree with that
@nanesca84 si viera a Iron Maiden con Bruce cantando esta cancion lloraria de emocion, si hubiera estado en este concierto lloraria por la profanacion que sufrio este gran tema a voz de Blaze.
@jamesravanal40 First of all, he's not trying to sing alto, coz bruce isn't alto, Bruce is a low tenor. and second of all: Blaze is not a Bass, he's a Baritone.
C'mon everybody stop bitching so much. This is a Bruce song, and to sing it if you're not Bruce definitely takes a lot of balls. Blaze did his best, and for me that is enough. Imagine Dio, Phil Anselmo or James Hetfield singing this, I'm 100% sure they'd all suck at it.
Blaze is great on this song, although in this particular case the chorus is a little strained. Look up Sverige '96 The Evil That Men Do, that version bests the original even.
I'll upload all of my Svergie 96 tracks I hunted down, not sure if it's the full bootleg, but I will. Afraid to Shoot Strangers with Blaze is amazing, especially that one! I think Blaze's voice fit the darker tones of those albums perfectly. While I've come to love all of Maiden's singers equally, people will always chose Bruce. If Blaze and Bruce were to trade places people would chose Blaze and prolly say "Bruce is too operatic for Iron Maiden" - this is the truth. Either way,,,,
Playing on MTV to such a huge audience with a terrible singer actually does Maiden more damage than good.
Why he was ever hired I'll never know. He can do his solo stuff okay but with Maiden, it was a total disaster. His range is pitifully too low for Maiden.
maiden sem o bruce nao e o maiden, mas blaze nao é tao ruim assim,o cara se esforçou enquanto esteve na banda.. mas é foda o cara tem uma postura estranha no palco..
Don't get me wrong, Blaze is a good singer but he was never right for Maiden. He just doesn't have the range of the other two. I think they could easily have chosen a better suited singer. But, he does have some kick-ass solo stuff.
Blaze should have never sang for Maiden he never has the charisma that Bruce had. Maiden should had told Micheal Kiske or even Tobias Sammet to fill in but respect to Blaze for having the balls to do it.
blaze wasn't a 'fill in' solution. he was a proper paid up member of the band. he was the 5th vocalist, not a temp.
and listen to x-factor and virtual xi. they are good albums. they aren't bruce albums, but maiden weren't looking for a bruce clone. blaze did a decent job singing his own material.
and he's subsequently gone from strength to strength btw. his solo career has produced some excellent stuff. go see him live and say he hasnt got charisma.
Blaze in maiden was a mistake!

Blaze is very good singer!
But THIS song, is better with Bruce!
champfodz1212 1 year ago
I think Blaze did a great job on this song. I like every singer Maiden's ever had, just goes to show you that there not afraid to experiment, even if it may backfire in there face. It took alot of balls for Blaze to sing this song, I think it worked out well for him. :D

It still baffles me how blaze was even hired as singer for maiden. It looks like one of the roadies decided to jump on stage and sing. He has the stage presence of a corpse and the voice of my ass after eating to many baked beans. Out of all the singers that would have died to sing for maiden they chose this fool. Thank god for the Paul and Bruce years.

fabbabenco 1 year ago
as much as I love blaze, he just doesnt have the range for this song. he's a brilliant singer but I think a lot of people saw it as too radical a change from bruce and maybe thats why a lot of people never really took to him. but he is NOT a bad singer, anyone who has seen him live will agree with that

@nanesca84 si viera a Iron Maiden con Bruce cantando esta cancion lloraria de emocion, si hubiera estado en este concierto lloraria por la profanacion que sufrio este gran tema a voz de Blaze.

I would love to hear Dio singing a Maiden song!

Blaze's voice is waaayyyy too flat to pull that song off...
maidenrulz608 1 year ago
@maidenrulz608 kinda hard to sing alto when your voice is a bass
jamesravanal40 1 year ago
@jamesravanal40 First of all, he's not trying to sing alto, coz bruce isn't alto, Bruce is a low tenor. and second of all: Blaze is not a Bass, he's a Baritone.

this performance shows how bad blaze is

C'mon everybody stop bitching so much. This is a Bruce song, and to sing it if you're not Bruce definitely takes a lot of balls. Blaze did his best, and for me that is enough. Imagine Dio, Phil Anselmo or James Hetfield singing this, I'm 100% sure they'd all suck at it.

@jasv49 Not Dio, dude. Not Dio...

Dio would suck? Hahaha, no.
Just watch some live video from him, since it seems you didn't.
Believe me he would kick ass.

una voce a metà tra un pecoraio e un degente di operazione alla laringe..... il peggior vocalist della storia, uno che farebbe bene a dedicare il suo tempo alla catena di montaggio in Fiat....

Blaze sounds amazing in most of the songs... but this one... really really crappy... and this is one of Maiden's main classics.
This one and The Trooper killed Blaze's time in Maiden.

Blaze is great on this song, although in this particular case the chorus is a little strained. Look up Sverige '96 The Evil That Men Do, that version bests the original even.
GrandeInquisitor 2 years ago
Afraid to Shoot strangers from the same bootleg, is one of my favoruite Blaze moments!
poyzork 2 years ago
I'll upload all of my Svergie 96 tracks I hunted down, not sure if it's the full bootleg, but I will. Afraid to Shoot Strangers with Blaze is amazing, especially that one! I think Blaze's voice fit the darker tones of those albums perfectly. While I've come to love all of Maiden's singers equally, people will always chose Bruce. If Blaze and Bruce were to trade places people would chose Blaze and prolly say "Bruce is too operatic for Iron Maiden" - this is the truth. Either way,,,,
UP THE IRONS!

Blaze didnt fit in to Iron maiden!

Playing on MTV to such a huge audience with a terrible singer actually does Maiden more damage than good.
Why he was ever hired I'll never know. He can do his solo stuff okay but with Maiden, it was a total disaster. His range is pitifully too low for Maiden.
hammyzone 2 years ago
Blaze is a great singer nowadays but he doesn't have the voice and the strength to be in a band like Maiden.
The whole band is off in this concert.

Just not the same without Bruce...

Maiden should had told Micheal Kiske or even Tobias Sammet to fill in but respect to Blaze for having the balls to do it.
estigia 2 years ago
"to fill in"...what does that even mean?
blaze wasn't a 'fill in' solution. he was a proper paid up member of the band. he was the 5th vocalist, not a temp.
and listen to x-factor and virtual xi. they are good albums. they aren't bruce albums, but maiden weren't looking for a bruce clone. blaze did a decent job singing his own material.
and he's subsequently gone from strength to strength btw. his solo career has produced some excellent stuff. go see him live and say he hasnt got charisma.
