@pureairsolutions. The problem with Joel Osteen is that he doesn't teach the real gospel. He is an excellent motivational speaker at best , a nice guy, but not a Pastor. Watch his interview with Larry King and decide if he is the one to lead you in God's word. It's not the idea of picking on Osteen but it's not all about what tickles our ears. Paul Washer and all the critics need to get their eyes off of Joel Osteen and onto Jesus Christ and keep it there where it belongs. Critiqing Osteen is useless. God is using him greatly and in spite of the critics, God's Favor is on Osteen and I testify that it is.
God has really used Brother Paul to bring back old-time preaching! I pray that God will rise up more preachers in the United States who will speak forth truth in the United States of America, a land of dry bones! We need TRUE teaching!!!

@MsSanoe No he is not an evil God. He is a just God. We will stand before the judgement seat of God and be judged. We as believers are made just in His eyes. "Justification" and bjudged by our works through faith. Works wont get you to heaven only Christs perfect blood can get you there. read Romans 12:1-2 also Matt,7 and soak in it and meditate and really focus on God. God is preparing us through the fire for our eternal reward of heaven.

i know that God knows me because he treated me like a beloved child and i was so lost and spend hours alone writing, trying to understand what was happening to me. I finally found a man who speaks the truth! God came for me and i lost almost everything dear to me at the time! This was not easy! i was torn down from all the things i was practicing in the world! @uberskillz4ou last I checked, C.S. Lewis never wrote one Holy Spirit inspired book. The Holy Spirit makes no mention of such imaginations as penned by Lewis. The lake of fire that is a place prepared for the devil and the false prophet, where those whose names are not found written in the Lamb's Book of Life will be kept there, without any hope of escaping what is to be a place where the worm rests not, where there is eternal gnashing of teeth. God is to be taken at his Word.

I think this guy gets a bad rap, I've listened to some of his sermons in entirety and youtube doesn't have the bits that talk of the love of God. Its very problematic if you take one little part of someone's sermon and pass judgement based on that. Its better to look at the entirety of a sermon before making a judgement call.

He will not in any way count any sin as petty. every sin, even that which we would call petty is cursed by God and punishable only by death. one cannot possibly say they love God and still love their sin. to love God is to hate evil in all its forms-including homosexuality. the only god that would allow a person to be comfortable in their sin is the devil.

He sure is impressed with himself. He skipped the part in the Bible about being haughty. He also puts a lot of emphasis on not looking like the world, however he looks like someone in Corporate America. How is that not looking like the world?
Yeah! Look at the prophets in the bible : Isaiah (sawn in half), Jeremiah (imprisoned and riduculed), Ezekiel (God told him that the people would not listen!) @opoutry not to be cynical but at the end of the day, they are making a living at 'preaching the gospel' and so when they come out with their own angle of 'hard core' anti-Joel style preaching, it is just a niche. You don't need these preachers, you need Jesus. You can listen to them, and they may say something correct, but the Holy Spirit is your teacher, not any of these men.
Love is the best known but least understood of all God's attributes. Almost everyone who believes in God these days sees Him as a God of love. I have even met agnostics who are quite certain that if God exists, He must be benevolent, compassionate, and loving.
All those things are infinitely true about God, of course, but not in the way most people think. Because of the influence of modern liberal theology, many suppose that God's love and goodness ultimately nullify His righteousness, justice, and holy wrath.
They envision God as a gentle heavenly grandfather-tolerant, affable, lenient, permissive, devoid of any real displeasure over sin, who without consideration of His holiness will benignly pass over sin and accept people as they are.
Liberal thinking about God's love also permeates much of evangelicalism today. We have lost the reality of God's wrath. We have disregarded His hatred for sin. The God most evangelicals now describe is all-loving and not at all angry. We have forgotten that "It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God" (Hebrews 10:31). We do not believe in that kind of God anymore.
We must recapture some of the holy terror that comes with a right understanding of God's righteous anger. We need to remember that God's wrath does burn against impenitent sinners (Psalm 38:1-3). That reality is the very thing that makes His love so amazing. Only those who see themselves as sinners in the hands of an angry God can fully appreciate the magnitude and wonder of His love.
In that regard, our generation is surely at a greater disadvantage than any previous age. We have been force-fed the doctrines of self-esteem for so long that most people don't really view themselves as sinners worthy of divine wrath.
On top of that, religious liberalism, humanism, evangelical compromise, and ignorance of the Scriptures have all worked against a right understanding of who God is. Ironically, in an age that conceives of God as wholly loving, altogether devoid of wrath, few people really understand what God's love is all about.
@opoutry your posts are right. Just don't get unbalanced in response to the overly self-esteemization of the Church. In the concept of preaching to the culture, our culture is now different then in the past. You have to address them in the way they understand. So you may have to relate to them the aspects of the gospel that they can grasp first. Just make sure to get the full picture. Washers vibe is one aspect, but still not the full picture. You almost need to combine Paul & Joel... lol

@TheSapphirestation The Bible says that marital unfaithfulness is grounds for divorce. This doesn't just mean adultery. Abuse of any kind is is an act of unfaithfulness. Paul W is joining the club of those that believe that putting someone down makes them look better. The Gospel he's preaches makes all of his followers feel that some how they're earning salvation. @juventudvictoriosa From what I have heard, Paul Washer is simply presenting the message of salvation without the watered down, sensitive message that is all too often preached today. While I prefer to call the Messiah by his original name of Yahushua, Paul Washer preaches salvation as it should be preached.
This is great - right on the mark. The self-esteem so-called "gospel" makes me sick. Robert Schuller started it and when the moneymongers like Warren and Osteen saw how well that message sold, they took it to a new level. It has NOTHING to do with the Gospel. WOW! I just found out about this Spirit filled preacher prophet of God. He sounds like he's related to John the Baptist. I am impressed. God has been given me discernment about several preachers and teachers. This is confirmation. If you are a Christian, just pray for those preachers or teachers that are so concerned with the world. Joel Osteen has created a market for non-Christians who "think" they are Christians. They only want Jesus' love for their own benefits but not His truth for His glory. We should gently warn young believers against the Better-Me-gospel but encouraging them to listen to the truly transformational Gospel of Jesus. Smiley-nicey stuff looks good in the beginning but leads to more neediness because there's no real healing, but Jesus gives life eternal.

The good news is that because a person realizes he is full of sin and evil but that God has died so that he may be forgiven. This realization that there is a savior, and then true repentance from sin must occur. A person must realize the Bad news before you tell them the good.

@MsSanoe No he is not an evil God. He is a just God. We will stand before the judgement seat of God and be judged. We as believers are made just in His eyes. "Justification" and bjudged by our works through faith. Works wont get you to heaven only Christs perfect blood can get you there. read Romans 12:1-2 also Matt,7 and soak in it and meditate and really focus on God. God is preparing us through the fire for our eternal reward of heaven.

There is no way that the seriousness of hell or sin etc is changed if we say that purpose and emotional health is important. You should read the gospels better and follow Jesus example. While this guy does make some great points about the flaws of western Christianity, his message comes across as hate-filled. God isn't going to cast anyone to hell. C.S. Lewis said it best when he said, "The gates of hell are locked from the inside." If God created hell for eternal punishment for those who didn't accept Him, then there is no free will. The lake of fire that is a place prepared for the devil and the false prophet, where those whose names are not found written in the Lamb's Book of Life will be kept there, without any hope of escaping what is to be a place where the worm rests not, where there is eternal gnashing of teeth. I think this guy gets a bad rap, I've listened to some of his sermons in entirety and youtube doesn't have the bits that talk of the love of God. Its very problematic if you take one little part of someone's sermon and pass judgement based on that. Its better to look at the entirety of a sermon before making a judgement call.

He will not in any way count any sin as petty. every sin, even that which we would call petty is cursed by God and punishable only by death. one cannot possibly say they love God and still love their sin. to love God is to hate evil in all its forms-including homosexuality. the only god that would allow a person to be comfortable in their sin is the devil.

Yeah! Look at the prophets in the bible : Isaiah (sawn in half), Jeremiah (imprisoned and riduculed), Ezekiel (God told him that the people would not listen!) @opoutry not to be cynical but at the end of the day, they are making a living at 'preaching the gospel' and so when they come out with their own angle of 'hard core' anti-Joel style preaching, it is just a niche. You don't need these preachers, you need Jesus. You can listen to them, and they may say something correct, but the Holy Spirit is your teacher, not any of these men.

We must recapture some of the holy terror that comes with a right understanding of God's righteous anger. We need to remember that God's wrath does burn against impenitent sinners (Psalm 38:1-3). That reality is the very thing that makes His love so amazing. Only those who see themselves as sinners in the hands of an angry God can fully appreciate the magnitude and wonder of His love.

In the concept of preaching to the culture, our culture is now different then in the past. You have to address them in the way they understand. So you may have to relate to them the aspects of the gospel that they can grasp first. Just make sure to get the full picture. Washers vibe is one aspect, but still not the full picture. You almost need to combine Paul & Joel... lol

While I prefer to call the Messiah by his original name of Yahushua, Paul Washer preaches salvation as it should be preached.

This is great - right on the mark. The self-esteem so-called "gospel" makes me sick. Robert Schuller started it and when the moneymongers like Warren and Osteen saw how well that message sold, they took it to a new level. It has NOTHING to do with the Gospel. A person can't begin to understand the Gospel until they first understand how unholy they are, how little "esteem" they are worthy of.
I don't know much about you Mr. Washer but you are right on the money with this one.

WOW! I just found out about this Spirit filled preacher prophet of God. He sounds like he's related to John the Baptist. I am impressed. God has been given me discernment about several preachers and teachers. This is confirmation. If you are a Christian, just pray for those preachers or teachers that are so concerned with the world. Because I am sure that, once changed in the heart, they can bring in millions of souls for Jesus' Kingdom!!!! PRAY and FAST for those at least for one day.

If we are still under Law, and we are still required to do what the law demands from us, then we should all be circumcised, for if we're required to keep any part of the law, we must keep it all! Joel Osteen has created a market for non-Christians who "think" they are Christians. They only want Jesus' love for their own benefits but not His truth for His glory. We should gently warn young believers against the Better-Me-gospel but encouraging them to listen to the truly transformational Gospel of Jesus. Because he is fighting to bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ and the Joel Osteen's of the world are denying that Christ is the way and telling people to live their best life now. The good news is that because a person realizes he is full of sin and evil but that God has died so that he may be forgiven. This realization that there is a savior, and then true repentance from sin must occur. A person must realize the Bad news before you tell them the good.

From Galatians, 3 books over to Colossians to chapter 3 verse 8 and you will find that there.
