  • You look more like an awesome slap bass player than guitarist will billy two fist mgee!

  • my fingers look weird when i play they dont look like professional guitarist that hardly bend their finger joints.

How come some guitarist hardly bend their finger joints?

  • i just used muslces i never thought i had, trying this exercise

  • I used to know willy when his fingers were shorter. he started a miracle gro/cauliflower fast diet back in the late 90s. the last time i saw him was at a "weed fest" show at fitz's in houston. his fingers had grown 80% and he smelled like chlorophyll....but his chops were seriouser than serious.

  • This video from what i can tell was made a uploaded twice. :P

  • @Skyuss666 YES ,reminds me of my teacher 25 yrs ago. agonizing dexterity exercises, scale patterns and modes up and down the neck. If he didnt help me learn a song a week i liked i would have quit. but it sure payed off in the long run bigtime.

  • Good lesson, but going alittle too fast for em to understand

  • 2:35 to skip to lesson.

  • your a badass man

  • HEH HAAaaaa.....DING DING!!

  • On the way back shouldnt you be playing the riff backwards to?

  • hahaha im 13 thats bearly a stretch after a few times

  • daatt caaammmm. man the start of these videos are annoying !

  • Love the intro man! about to see the vid, I'm sure it'll be great! ^_^

  • thanks so much, this is gunna help me alot

  • will smith

  • shut up and play your guitar!!!

  • maaan will billy the two fist mcgee has got to be one of the best guitar teachers i have ever come across with, thanks for the tutorial!

  • Look at those monster fingers! I don't think this guy really understands how difficult it is for those of us very small hands and short fingers to do this excercise! I don't care how flexible you are, some fingers and hands are just TOO small to stretch 5 frets!

  • @BrownsCustomGrips five frets isnt a big deal..

  • Maybe to some people...but to other it is.

  • @BrownsCustomGrips "If you can't stretch across the first five frets move down to the 5th or 7th so it isn't as big a stretch."

  • I feel for you dude, but isn't it much better when you do this you have done this you know that you have beaten the odds?

  • @BrownsCustomGrips really i'm 14 years old and i can reach 5 frets it isn't much of a big deal

  • Age doesn't have much to do with it. If a person has small hands, and short fat fingers, it doesn't matter if he's 14 or 40. Unless you're made of rubber, there IS a physical limit that a person can reach with any given size hands.

  • using finger economy and move your thumb into a c chord position when stretching with your pinky holding a g chord shape and stretching ur pinky with stumby fingers never gonna work

  • Your broken grammar suggests you don't know what you're saying.

  • great lesson

  • I got a real problem with syncing the two hands. This should help. Thanks.

    Love the T. Monk hat!

  • I thought you said it was free! I'm not gonna pay $148 to teach myself from some dvd

  • LOL its not gunna be three fist

  • two fist!!

  • got that thats easy! nice scale though!

  • @eroticblack not exactly a scale.

  • yeah of course its not! thats just some random exercise!

  • @eroticblack lol yeah. a pretty neat one too.

  • i love that PRS

  • its david's

  • looks crazy...ill learn it!

  • great exercise!! you still rule man.

ill use this streach from now on. only thing sucks is that i make it to the 12th fret at a decent speed before my hand cramps up a little. mainly because I've only been doing drop tunings, and rarely doing solos. and if i was doing a solo, it would be a one string solo :(.

but this will make my hands beter :)

  • This guy is fucking weird

  • LOL

  • someone put a tab for this

  • could ur fingers be any bigger?

  • stick those long ass fingersup your ass i'm struggling here

  • favorite teacher

  • his name will billy two fist magee?

  • WIll Billy TWOOOOO fist Magee lol

  • Having fingers like garden hoses helps!

  • Thanks you are goofy however helpful.

  • make a tut for palm muting.

  • Something wrong(at least theoretically) and confusing for beginners: He mentions going down the freatboard and down the neck, but he is actually pointing going UP the fretboard and DOWN the neck.

  • This is by no means meant for beginners.

  • Anyway, it's wrong

  • Actually meant UP the fretboard and UP the neck

  • Hes cool as shit gives good lessons and puts it down for the brothas.

So no disrespect but I don't understand why hes always rockin that hat & bandanna ?....looks random as fuck

  • everyone should try it on an acoustic first before going to electric...a while back i started doing these exercises on electric and i thought i was doing alright as far as improving but then i picked up an acoustic and i was slow and messing up like hell...

acoustic makes practices much better i think

  • i think electric is better for learning, especially with distortion it'll pick up every bit of noise, so its great for learning to play clean.... you don't even have to palm mute when sweep picking on acoustics

  • yeah and mostly because the strings on an acoustic guitar are hard to press...try doing power chord exercises on an acoustic guitar...it will cramp like hell

  • @dopemcee so true

  • youre fingers would be good for playing piano!

  • This dude is cool.

  • What model of guitar is that, I know its a PRS but some of the PRSs are expensive and some are cheap in price so I am assuming some of them are of questionable materials.

  • none are of questionable material, there is an SE line which is in the $500 dollar range.

  • awesome guitar

  • I love these kinds of exercises, thanks twofist!

  • very economical motion? lol kidding i heard what he said.

    replies not needed.

  • very good excercise! i'll try it out tomorrow. happy i subscribed to this channel Ö

  • I LIKE THIS GUY XD

  • Me too xD

  • He does have long fingers, quite advantageous! Great to see people really play.

  • Excellent 5 Stars

  • Damn I need to go see a doctor. There's something wrong with my wrist. It starts hurting when I do this for a while. I also get a weird headache whenever I try to play a song consisting only of power chords which require me to bend the wrist in the same way all the time. Like "in bloom" by nirvana. Anyone had a similar problem?

  • You just need to relax. Too much tension will give you headaches, like if you tighten your muscles all the way up the arm and on your head. You need to learn to use only your hand muscles.

  • Also, try raising your guitar so that you're playing more ergonomically. The lower your guitar sits, the harder it is on your fretting hand.

  • Playing low is cool you know. If you have guitar in the level of your knees, you will rock hard! But you are right. I used to have guitar almost on my breasts-chest. but I had problem to do proper low E tremolo picking. Used 10s for that, maybe 9 would be better with not so big resistance. I guess my 13-60 in A are floppier but this does not do any problem to me. Damn I have to try some nice 9s too.

  • @ltsooz:

maybe your guitar is too low, like nght5tlkr wrote on his/her comment.

Rise your guitar so it rests at your waist level or even at your belly level: the more comfortable it feels, the better for your playing.

The arm of your guitar should be the closest to 45° --it helps your hand to go up and down the fretboard easily and stressless.

  • Also...

Be sure not to look at your freatboard --if you keep staring at your freatboard while playing, your wrist will have to bend badly. The freatboard should be facing the crowd, not yourself.

Finally, read SanctumZero's comment, which can be summed up in one word: relax. That really helps.

    Warm regards!

  • This is a good exercise for intermediate guitarists.

  • where's Marty Schwartz?

  • @jleb310ce

    guitarjamzdotcom

    youcanlearnguitar

    martyfs74

    those are martys channels

  • On his channels mate. "guitarjamzdotcom", "youcanlearnguitar" and "martyfs74"

  • good lesson

  • what happens after it goes to the high e string? they should make a tab for this.

  • he starts it all over again but on the second fret of the e string, this time going down (e->G->B->D->G->A->D->E-> And then start on the third fret of low e string)

  • Holy cow, I did this for a few minutes, and my pinky feels dead... It's pretty cool

  • Where is Will Billy One? :-) Thank you for the lesson two man.

  • What guitar is that?

  • @YaaaarrghAh prs custom 24 more than likely.

  • "all the way down and all the way up and all the way down the neck....." o.O ..I'm always dubious of people teaching who don't know the fundamentals!

  • He most likely does =/.... look at his other video's he teaches modes and all that

  • totally, i know what you mean, at least he's good though

  • At least you know what I mean. You are right though, he does seem quite good :)

  • Unfortunately , he does.

  • alllright! you have two fists! WE GET IT BY NOW!

  • i'm amazed!this simple lesson has improved my skill so much!!thanks a lot

  • Two fist McGeeee!

  • He has such an interesting way of picking! I don't think I could ever learn to pick like him.

  • Gracias desde España!

  • damn this exercise looks like it's gonna help good. gonna start with it. thanks will billy.

  • Yessir!

  • 5 stars for will billy! Awesome job!

  • The best exercise and stretch for cramping and really, just the foundation for a warm up is literally taking your right hand and stretching your left hands fingers about a dozen different ways.

  • Nice , I agree, this training (all ROGP) is very nice. I have to try it too. Try this, too. Start with your index on the first fret of E string. Your fingers are on 1 2 3 4 frets. But after you played your fourth, then you will start on E as before with index (1) but you ll move your other fingers to string below (A and so on). I figured it very nice, too. Maybe it also help to others.:-)

  • Well I think any form of playing is going to help you with certain structures and techniques but lets be realistic, nothing is truly going to stretch out your hands like grabbing your fingers and spreading them as far apart as possible lol.

Another nice trick is some over the counter cortisone cream and rubbing alcohol mixed together.

Put that on your hands each night and I GUARENTEE when you wake up the next morning, your hands are looser, more accurate, faster etc.etc. than ever.

  • Thank you so much ;)
